15.01.2022 #Classroom_Insights featuring some reflections for NAIDOC week which highlights meaningful child-led learning. In mid October the students were inspired to make some PVC pipes into didgeridoos which were then painted. Their creativity then extended to painting flags and other aboriginal art as interpreted by the children. Rocks and clay were brought into school which led to experiments with crushing and mixing different concoctions into "paint". Books on indigenous artwork were read and the children spoke about their own cultural understandings. The students remained curious and led their discoveries about the first nations people for two days. Please enjoy some of their artwork!

14.01.2022 Students at Maridahdi create and display artworks to communicate ideas to their peers, parents and staff. They have been exploring new mediums including water colours, charcoal, paint and oil pastels. Experimenting with different mediums often allows students to express their ideas and opinions in a visual format. Their artworks are inspired by what they know and discover in the environment and the world around them.

09.01.2022 #Classroom_Insights featuring child led play processing real world "worries". Every day the Maridahdi Brisbane students organise and arrange play in their morning meeting with consideration to who's participating in group play or individual ideas, what equipment they will incorporate and the space they need. Recently there was a 2 day long hospital set up within the school with beds medication X-rays a brain and a computer set up. Children were enjoying playing the roles of COVID-19 patients, Doctors, Security and Catering staff.... All the while processing thoughts and feelings about the pandemic supported by the teaching staff.

08.01.2022 For all that you do and for all the love that you give each day (even today)... we see you!! We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day Whether you are a Mum, Step-Mum, Grandma, Nanna or carer - you are so important to our little people We also want to acknowledge those who found this day challenging or those who are remembering Mothers who are no longer with us

06.01.2022 What a beautiful way to end the school year last week A play at our little local beach, a swim in the wading pool followed by some fish & chips. The kids planned their day & definitely enjoyed every minute of their celebrations! We wanted to thank you for all your support this year We hope you enjoy the summer holidays & best wishes for 2021!!! Maridahdi Brisbane
