19.01.2022 Welcoming news today about the opening of travel between New Zealand and the Northern Territory from mid-October. The CLP Opposition strongly encourages visitation from COVID-safe areas. Our tourism industry needs every dollar it can get right now. However, the Gunner Government needs to make sure the travel bubble is administered effectively with safety the paramount issue.... This collection will help support families in need. Around 1 in 5 babies go without enough nappies to be clean, healthy and happy, our collective community spirit is needed more than ever.... Drop yours off to our collection box at my office next to Target, Palmerston Shopping Centre.

11.01.2022 In a Covid19 world, our priority is safety of the community. Reach out at anytime on my personal mobile 0404 466 374. Who is Marie-Clare Boothby? Passionate when it comes to small businesses and the tremendous impact such enterprises have on the local economy and beyond, I am a Business & Digital Adviser working with small businesses. ... For 18 years I was in the leadership team of the Northern Territory’s most successful financial advisory firms. More recently I've been assisting organisations to succeed in the online world through digital marketing initiatives. I was also the Chair of Territory Proud for 3 years, a membership organisation of nearly 400 NT Businesses who use the brand to identify as locally owned and operated. Being well aware that community, sporting and support groups are instrumental in peoples lives, I find myself raising awareness and funds for these organisations actively and now educate them on how they can do the same online. Raising a young family in Palmerston, I am blessed to have children who love to try out new sports & activities, meaning I am able to get to know different families each year and form strong relationships with the same organisations. In September 2019, I was pre-selected by the Country Liberal Party of the Northern Territory as the candidate for Brennan, an electorate covering the suburbs of Farrar, Gunn, Bakewell and Rosebery in Palmerston. The NT election is set for August 2020. This for me is at the heart of my values of putting people at the centre and working out ways to move forward with my vision for the NT to return to prosperity and a place people want to visit and live.
11.01.2022 Leader of the Opposition, Lia Finocchiaro, says the Gunner Government has completely abandoned its ‘tougher than ever’ crackdown on youth crime instead further watering down its already inadequate bail amendments. After waiting until the eleventh hour to present these bail amendments, Labor has been inundated with criticism. That’s forced the Gunner Government to cave to pressure from lobby groups and propose an amendment to insert the term ‘exceptional circumstances’ to ...describe situations where repeat offenders can be bailed. This is a desperate political attempt to re-write the narrative and completely ignores broad community support for genuine consequences for repeat offenders. Labor has tried to tailor a political solution to the serious issue of law and order and they just don’t match. The Gunner Government should bring sensible reform, yet introduces these overly-complicated, ambiguous changes, which barely shuffles in the right direction. The CLP Opposition does not support this morning’s additional amendment, said Ms Finocchiaro. Deputy Leader of the Opposition, Gerard Maley, says Labor is deeply divided over this issue. In an extraordinary move, Federal Labor Senator Malarndirri McCarthy has broken ranks to call on the Chief Minister to hit the pause button on his rushed youth bail changes. Not even Labor’s own members can agree on how to move forward with this important law and order reform. This legislation was cobbled together in a knee-jerk reaction to the A Current Affair story aired in March, and the Opposition’s Bail Amendment Bill 2021. It’s convoluted, confusing and the Gunner Government is struggling to sell its own message, said Mr Maley.

08.01.2022 Leader of the Opposition, Lia Finocchiaro, says in typical Labor fashion there are more questions than answers from the Gunner Government’s puzzling bail amendments. The key issues we see with this legislation is it doesn’t return breach of bail conditions as an offence for youths, and bail remains neutral for the expanded prescribed offences list including sex offences, serious harm, and robbery. In certain circumstances, youths who have breached their bail, or committ...Continue reading

06.01.2022 More good news for the Territory from the Morrison-McCormack Government today Alex Hawke MP announced that international students can now work unlimited hour...s which is great news for our tourism and hospitality sector. I am also hopeful that Minister Hawke will soon have good news for us regarding the NT Designated Area Migration Agreement. Watch this space. Michael McCormack MP will spend more than $320 million upgrading Territory Roads especially for the Victorian, Barkly and Stuart Highways! Fantastic news for our gas, cattle, ag, tourism industries and people living in the bush. It’s great to have the Federal Government backing the Territory and investing in our future - it’s just so disappointing our own Labor government has no vision, plan or capability.
