23.01.2022 A proud moment for our group alongside Coral Bay. Congratulations to all of you.

23.01.2022 Congratulations to David Skene aka Skeney for being this month’s member of the month. It’s only fair because your birthday is in April. . Q1: What inspires you to be a volunteer? SKENE: I love boats! By now most will know my work role also involves Marine Safety and I love to use both to promote boating safety. .... Q2: What is something that has made an impact/can you share a memorable moment - while volunteering with marine rescue? SKENE: Simply seeing the relief on peoples faces when you arrive to assist. The search and rescue effort of the two boys missing from Lefroy Bay will stay with me. They drifted back and forth across Ningaloo reef over night and were eventually picked up by helicopter the next day and returned to their family. It was such a wonderful positive result when as searchers we were really fearing the worst.... Q3: How long have you been volunteering? SKENE: I started volunteering for Fremantle Sea Rescue back in the mid 1990s and completed a Diploma of Marine Studies as well as working for the Swan River Trust. I then transfered to the Pilbara and then down to Carnarvon. I volunteered with them for 3 years and then transferred to Exmouth and have been with the group since June 2008!

03.01.2022 TC Seroja is long gone, but it will be some time before the communities impacted are back to some kind of normality. These numbers give you an insight into the ...mammoth scale of the response in our Midwest. Our State and Regional Operations Centres continue to manage resources across WA so that we are prepared for anything. Thank you to all our partner agencies who have supported us on the ground and behind the scenes. Though our Metro and Peel areas are going into lockdown, rest assured that your emergency services remain ready to respond when you need us.
