21.01.2022 Thank you Mick for sharing

18.01.2022 Have you seen this crab? A photo was recently taken of what looks like the exotic Asian shore crab at Mount Martha and Rickett’s Point beaches. The species is... not known to be established in Australia and could spread rapidly and consume and outcompete our native species including commercially important scallops, mussels and oysters. Please report any sightings by emailing [email protected], phoning 136 186 or via the Snap, Send Solve app. www.vic.gov.au/marine-pests See more

18.01.2022 Thank you to Gayle for organising the MCRP Great Victorian Fish Count snorkel on Saturday, Mick and Jinty for leading the snorkel and all our 28 snorkelers who braved the choppy conditions. Many fish were counted and five PJ sharks were seen.

03.01.2022 Formal Objection to Application No. 49/2020 (152 Tulip Street Cheltenham) A number of you have expressed interest in lodging an objection to the above Application, based on information I sent around from FONW. Time restraints preventing the MCRP committee from sending a formal objection. My personal objection is in the email below, based on FONW advice and some plagiarism of Greg Mier’s objection, in case you want to use any of it - feel free. ... Remember, to lodge an objection, sent it to the Bayside City Council Planning Department referring to Application No. 49/2020 at 152 Tulip Street Cheltenham. Make sure to include your contact name, address and phone number and send by email to: [email protected]. Also, I copied my objection to the new Councillors-elect. In the email say you object to the development as proposed. Say what sort of relationship you have to the place, and then list your reasons for objecting. Your relationship to the place might be that you are a Bayside resident who believes frog breeding areas are an important part of Bayside that require protection. If you've been to one of FONW events there, perhaps planting or surveying the waterbugs, you could say you've worked within the park as a volunteer, planting or weeding or surveying the native wildlife. Reasons for objecting might be 1. the wildlife corridor to the golf course will be removed 2. the development threatens the health of the pond, and hence the frogs and other native wildlife 3. the new plantings are insufficient to replace the functions of the existing vegetation Please feel free to send this on to others. I hope this helps get plenty of objections in, so FONW can have the opportunity to negotiate some different outcomes. Please visit the FONW website to view their objection if you need more help. Kind regards Beth Elizabeth Jensen President, Marine Care Ricketts Point

02.01.2022 Here you go members, fyi. The reporting of fishing activities at Ricketts Point is being taken on board. Despite the frustration initially things are changing.
