25.01.2022 A beautiful day for the South Maroubra Rockpool walk today - with plenty of creatures to see. Stay tuned for a video of two Sydney octopus fighting!

24.01.2022 My young son Joseph and I at the Peoples Climate March Sydney marching for Nature and a Safe Future for ALL kids around the world who NEED an adequate climate solution at Paris next month for them to have a chance of a habitable planet. (cute pictures of kids is nice to Like but THIS is much more IMPORTANT - seriously we voting adults HAVE to demand our elected politicians support 100% Clean Energy NOW! - the alternative is simply too dangerous to allow). Please Like and share with this Hash Tag #peoplesclimate Thanks!

24.01.2022 Snorkelling in Sydney is magic! Two great groups on Woollahra Council & MDCs Summerama family program. Found this friendly octopus who climbed onto my shoulder - photo not quite as easy on this phone in a $20 wet bag but you get the idea! Fun, fun - what a wonderful city we live in

23.01.2022 MDCs 4th Annual Whale festival is on Sunday the 23rd of June this year. It our biggest festival of the year, come along!

23.01.2022 Sandcastle Builders Wanted! Sunday, 4th June from 8am to 12pm come along and help build the longest sand castle wall along Bondi Beach to help protect our oceans from plastic pollution - as part of the campaign to ban the use of single-use plastic bags #BanTheBag. We are going at 9am starting at the south end of the beach (you may well be thanked by some of the whales cruising past at the moment!)

23.01.2022 The Marine Discovery Centres 3 baby Port Jackson sharks and other fish were all delivered safely to Sydney Aquarium yesterday. They will be put in the Penguin exhibit once they have chilled out in quarantine for a little while. Im organising a special deal for MDC members to go see them in their new home once they are settled - keep in touch :-) Thanks to legend volunteer Muzz for helping get them there safely and to Hoppo from Bondi Rescue for providing the oxygen to keep ...them alive in transit. Thanks also to all MDC staff & volunteers who have helped remove all MDC fittings and equipment from the Centre (generously in their own time) - and hope we get some more volunteers to help move all this valuable stuff up to the new shelving I am building in the office (any help building this would be very welcome as Im no carpenter!). Please contact me to help:-) See more

23.01.2022 Amazing what can come of conversations with families you sit next to at environmental events! Watch ABC News 7pm tonight! (Sunday 21/05) Turns out the mum of the cute kids next to us was an ABC News producer, and it looks like I sparked her curiosity when I was talking about the biggest plastic pollution issue that nobody has ever heard of - the nasty synthetic fibres clogging up our marine sediments and marine life - (and maybe us!) in the developed world, which are coming... from our increasingly synthetic clothing, via our now woefully inadequate washing machines...... time for mandatory filters! Thanks to Tim Silverwood for putting on the anti-plastic fund-raiser for his group Take 3 for the Sea and to Dr Mark Browne for having the patience to put the Science of the problem forward again - Time for some serious media attention and finally proper ACTION to fix this enormous problem! 16.01.2022 Our Reef is precious and CO2 is killing it (fast) - we cannot afford to allow any more coal mines to go ahead, let alone corrupt and economically disastrous ones like Adani. Come along to Bondi Beach at 9am today to create a giant human sign to #StopAdani. For actions in other locations go to http://www.stopadani.com/actionday https://www.facebook.com/events/125071324806243/?ti=cl

15.01.2022 Dear All, March in March is on this Sunday 16th March - to send a strong Statement of No Confidence in the Abbott Government - Australians United for a Better Government! All this environmental vandalism going on has to STOP and the only way to achieve it is to stand up and be heard........ Hope to see you Sunday 16th at 1pm Belmore Park Sydney (and 30 other locations as well) https://www.facebook.com/pages/March-In-March-Sydney-2014/718749241476659

14.01.2022 Today wrapped up the 3 days at South Maroubra for Rockpool Tours with the MDC!!(as part of the Randwick Council school holiday program.) More amazing weather and creatures - what a beautiful and diverse place we live in!

14.01.2022 Fantastic news! Our two big supermarkets agree to phase out environmentally damaging (and totally unnecessary) micro-plastic beads from common body washes - yay! http://mobile.abc.net.au//coles-woolworths-support/7073674 Until all this voluntary goodwill eventually comes into effect, please dont buy the offending products - Download the App to Beat the Microbead here http://get.beatthemicrobead.org/... Really wish our government would act to ban them as President Obama has done in the USA..... http://edition.cnn.com//12/30/health/obama-bans-microbeads/

14.01.2022 Ehm.... I'm a little speechless here. Second day of the season and we are already seeing double breaches??? Quite the afternoon we had watching the same two whales from the morning, kindly waiting for us just outside the harbour entrance! :)

13.01.2022 Come on down to the centre and watch these growing shark pups during our next feeding session!

13.01.2022 Please make a submission before the now extended deadline of Mon 31st - lets make sure this government knows how much we all value Marine Parks - and not let the process become a Halloween Horror.......

12.01.2022 Surely the purposeful addition of tiny plastic beads to a soap-like product that by its very nature has to be washed down the drain and into our oceans, is knowingly polluting the environment - and as such surely MUST be obviously ILLEGAL?! The fact that scientists have only now clearly shown that corals are eating these plastics is also surely obvious - and by simple logical extension must surely be the same for all plankton feeders? Please sign the petition below to force these companies to STOP adding this completely unnecessary plastic pollution to their facial scrubs - SURELY this is something our governments can do with existing anti-pollution laws RIGHT NOW!

11.01.2022 Come whale watching with FantaseaCruising - truly a bit of Winter Magic! (special offer - kids only $15!) https://www.fantasea.com.au/whale-watching-cruises/

Beginning at 11am come wearing blue and white clothes , listen to some inspirational speakers and make a stand for the misinformed and irresponsible shark cull.

09.01.2022 Ehm.... Im a little speechless here. Second day of the season and we are already seeing double breaches??? Quite the afternoon we had watching the same two whales from the morning, kindly waiting for us just outside the harbour entrance! :)

04.01.2022 We need more protection for our disappearing biodiversity, not less!

02.01.2022 There are a lot of similarities between Sydney and San Fran, lets hope the banning of plastic bottles can be another!

02.01.2022 This is important folks - please come along tomorrow to demand action on the Murray Darling River - finally there is a groundswell against these multiple examples of government mismanagement of our precious environment. See you 10am Thursday!
