Last year while visiting Darling Harbour International Boat-show with my husband Wayne Dickenson, a good friend and I noticed the lack of certain life saving equipment. 16.01.2022 A few people have told me that they would be "scared" to use a defibrillator. Yes! Being in a situation such as a cardiac arrest would definately be scary. EVERY MINUTE OF DELAY OF DEFIBRILLATION, THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL DIMINISH BY 10%, AND AFTER 10 MINUTES, THE CHANCES OF SURVIVAL ARE ALMOST ZERO.

09.01.2022 AEDs Required By Law On Queensland Reef Vessels With 10 tourist fatalities in 6 months around the Great Barrier Reef, the Queensland State Government has put into law a stronger Code of Practice for Recreational Snorkelling and will shortly announce revised Diving Safety guidelines. Industrial Relations Minister Grace Grace announced the long-awaited changes to make the Great Barrier Reef and Queenslands other waterways safer for snorkellers.... Automatic External Defibrillators now required on all reef tourist vessels to improve emergency response capabilities.

08.01.2022 Can anyone use a Defibrillator? Yes. In fact, these things are super easy to use. This is how they work: You attach the pads to the machine and person. The pads have diagrams showing you where to to put them. You turn the machine on and it looks for a heart rhythm, however small it is... If it detects a rythm, it will tell you to stand back and either it administers the shock or tells you to push the button that sends the shock After the shock the machine tells you to keep doing CPR (shock didnt work) or stop doing the CPR (shock did work) If the Defib doesnt work the first time, it will keep checking for a rhythm and tell you what to do. These little lifesavers increase survival rate from a cardiac arrest by up to 70%!! Every minute that passes without defibrillation reduces survival by 10%.
