12.01.2022 Interesting read, nothing particularly new, but all the more reason for NGOs to be on the case and keep vigilant!!
10.01.2022 Shark nets kill thousands of innocent marine animals every year. But science shows they don’t even work to keep swimmers safe. There are plenty of non-lethal al...ternatives government should be using instead including eco-barriers, drones, and shark spotter programs. Please sign the petition to replace the nets: https://notothenets.com/ More than 15,000 animals have been caught in Queensland’s lethal shark control program including endangered species. Many died slow, agonising deaths. It’s time to get these out-dated and ineffective devices out of the water. Please add you name to the petition calling for humane alternatives: https://notothenets.com/

10.01.2022 What are you doing this Friday/Saturday afternoon? Operation Posidonia are asking 'citizen scientists' to collect any live shoots from their local beach and bring them to one of their collection spots. Operation Posidonia will then transplant these shoots into old mooring scars. Restoration trials using detached seagrass shoots have been very promising, with survival of 70% of planted shoots. DPI and UNSW scientists are inviting members of the public to join them for a stroll... along Salamander Bay. Learn all about seagrass, and collect some fragments for re-planting along the way. Walks will happen on Friday 1st November, 3:30pm, AND/OR Saturday 2nd November, 2pm. Bobs Cairns Reserve, Salamander Bay RSVP to [email protected] For more information visit: www.operationposidonia.com
