I’ve been in a state of anticipation trying to get overseas this year and I’m failing, along with the rest of us. But the next best thing is to send people who can get there. This is my childhood best friend sitting in my favourite taverna on Patmos, Greece. 23.01.2022 We have allowed the founding members of MBH to do what they do best. Maggie Joyce and Trevor Joyce have headed to the Clarence River in NSW with friends and regular travellers of MBH. They are claiming research but I’m not so sure. How’s the light on the river? it’s beautiful. How’s the shape of the vessel? Not quite a yacht but it floats.

22.01.2022 We have spent much of this year racing towards the launch of our 2020 season and then coming to a complete standstill, making every arrangement possible with our clients and suppliers to manage COVID-19. May would normally be the launch of our first event and our cashflow would start again after a few quieter months between last season and this season. That was not to be in 2020. We are putting the final touches on postponing our 2020 season until 2021, and it has been wonder...ful to receive emails and phone calls of concern for our business and family and also clients looking forward to their future trips with us. With such a large repeat client business, many of you who travel with us have fond memories of sailing with Mariner Boating Holidays. Our business founder, and my dad, was almost in tears when a client called and told him he was precious. We try not to tell him that too often but in reality, it always means so much more when it comes from unexpected places. It has been a difficult time for a great many people so we are thrilled that many people are optimistically planning adventures next year using their credit transfers from airlines, hotels and Mariner Boating Holidays. Having survived Gulf Wars, 9/11, the GFC, SARS, Bird Flu, regional conflicts and upheavals in our specialist areas, we thought we had seen it all but Covid-19 has certainly tested us and the travel industry in general in a way not seen before. While we have had no income since February we have been grateful for the government stimulus packages and have managed to keep our small staff team afloat. While the Job Keeper payment has covered most of our salaries, I for one, have been lucky enough to pick up some additinal hours with my previous employer for six months. We are now looking forward to 2021 and will be ready as soon as the world settles into some form of new normality. - Sarah Joyce, General Manager
