10.01.2022 One of today's calls: Boat owner reported that a domestic refrigeration mechanic had been and tested his #danfoss #secop #dcrefrigeration unit and determined the compressor needed replacing because the sensor was bad. A) the Secop DC compressor doesn't have a sensor B) if the compressor had in fact failed, it would only be the 4th one in 32 years that I've come across. C) don't EVER have a domestic refrigeration mechanic (or anyone else who isn't trained and qualified to work... on DC marine refrigeration systems) try and repair your #marinerefrigeration equipment. Turns out he had not only blown the main fuse, but failed to identify the actual problem. The compressor was fine and is purring like a kitten now. Drinks are Some diagnostic tests of manufacturer specifications and the unit is back up and running with no fuss and saved the owner $1500 #lakemacquarie #lakemac

Actuator arm inside the unit worn from age causing the motor to stall. Less than a mm of wear is enough to cause headaches. Get your equipment serviced regularly to avoid these annoying failures.
