22.01.2022 With boaters taking advantage of favourable conditions to get out on the water, Marine Rescue NSW crews on the Northern Rivers are busy this morning. Three resc...ue operations have already been completed to help boaters safely back to shore. A crew from Marine Rescue Brunswick has returned a small runabout with three people on board to the Brunswick River after it experienced a mechanical failure at the Byron FAD (fish attracting device). Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba has escorted a vessel that was taking on water safely back to shore and a crew from Marine Rescue Ballina has rescued a boat with a flat battery at the Evans FAD.

18.01.2022 The Brunswick Heads boat ramp will be temporarily closed for approximately three weeks while Council seals the carpark and access road. The sealing will reduce... wear and tear on boats and trailers and improve parking while reducing sediment run-off into the river. Council will try to reopen the boat ramp on the weekends but this will depend on the weather and the progress of work during the week. The project is expected to be finished in late May.

16.01.2022 RWCO & trainees from Marine Rescue Brunswick & Point Danger completed their 6 monthly drills and worked through the trainees’ skills logs on the Brunswick River today.

16.01.2022 Thanks to the mild weather and generally good boating conditions, Marine Rescue volunteers were kept busy up and down the NSW coast over the weekend. A total of 39 rescues were performed, of which 9 were emergencies, with a total of 79 people rescued. A big thank you to our dedicated volunteers for this wonderful effort.... And remember that if you are planning on heading out this weekend, to carry all required safety gear, and to Log On and Log Off with Marine Rescue on VHF Channel 16 or via the free Marine Rescue app.

08.01.2022 A search and rescue A search and rescue exercise was held offshore between Brunswick Heads and Pottsville today will ensure Marine Rescue NSW volunteers are rescue-ready for the busy summer boating season.Volunteers from Marine Rescue Point Danger and Brunswick launch a simulated search and rescue mission eight nautical miles north of Brunswick Heads this morning in response to a report of a boat on fire with a severely injured crew.With assistance of NSW Water Police from Tw...eed Heads a target was dropped off Portsville coast and a simulated distress call was made.The call was received at the Marine Rescue radio base at Brunswick Heads which activated local rescue vessels to the last known position.Brunswick 30 arrived on scene and set up a search pattern and shortly after commencing their search Brunswick 30 found the target which was a rescue mannequin with multiple injuries. The mannequin was returned to Brunswick River ponton. Following the exercise the boat crews, radio operators and water police attended a debrief at Brunswick Boat Harbour. See more

03.01.2022 With the official start of boating season around the corner and plenty of warm spring weather, our units saw lots of people out during September enjoying the st...ate's waterways. And with more people dusting off their boat or kayak and hitting the water, our units also saw more boaters in need of a helping hand. Our statistics show that the most rescue missions were launched by Marine Rescue Lake Macquarie (42), Terrey Hills (19), Port Stephens (15), Botany Port Hacking (12), Central Coast (11) and Middle Harbour (10). A big thank you to all our wonderful volunteers for their contribution to saving lives on the water last month and every month.

01.01.2022 NSW Police are appealing for public assistance to find a woman missing from her Pottsville home on the NSW Far North Coast. Natalie Schipp, 42, failed to return... home from a beach walk at Hastings Point about 7.30pm yesterday (Sunday 27 December 2020). Her family found her car about 9.30pm and alerted officers from Tweed/Byron Police District a short time later. An immediate search of the surrounding area was conducted without success. The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter conducted a marine and land search again, unsuccessfully. Volunteers from Marine Rescue Brunswick are searching the coastline between Brunswick Heads and Cudgen Headland. The crew of rescue vessel Brunswick 30 - Dave Warren, Bill Spicer, Gabe Wuyts and Jonathon Wilcock - have searched north as far as Cudgen Creek and are now heading south again. Radio operator David Parkinson is providing communications support from the unit's radio base. Police and Natalie’s family hold serious concerns for her well-being. She is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, with a thin build, and short brown hair hair/eyes. At the time she was wearing a black short-sleeved wetsuit top and black shorts. Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen Natalie, or who has information about her whereabouts, to contact Tweed Heads Police or Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
