Of the 150 boats Logged On with Marine Rescue NSW units at 6.30am, all but two were south o...f Crowdy Harrington, with the majority making sure that Marine Rescue Port Kembla, Marine Rescue Shoalhaven and Marine Rescue Batemans Bay knew they were on the water. 15.01.2022 The Marine Rescue NSW Search and Rescue Exercise is continuing at Bermagui today. Volunteers from Marine Rescue Batemans Bay, Marine Rescue Tuross, Marine Rescu...e Bermagui, Marine Rescue Merimbula, Marine Rescue Eden, Marine Rescue Moama and Marine Rescue Narooma this morning held a debrief of yesterday's search exercise. This is an important component of a SAREX, identifying what participants learned about responding together with numerous search assets on the water and in the air, what worked well and what they might do differently next time. Director Operations Andrew Cribb thanked all participants for giving up their weekend. He congratulated everyone on their constructive approach, particularly applauding the efforts of rescue vessel crews during yesterday's search, who set a new search pattern for the last sweep of the day in just four minutes. Today's program also includes learning more about the operations and capability of our partners from Marine Area Command - NSW Police Force, Australian Maritime Safety Authority - AMSA, Surf Life Saving NSW and Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopters.

14.01.2022 ITS WEATHER WEDNESDAY! Did you know that the white boxes with louvres that are used to record temperature and humidity are called Stevenson Screens? Marine Res...cue Narooma unit volunteers such as Radio Officer Terry Delahunty have been taking measurements twice daily at a Stevenson Screen for the Bureau of Meteorology at 9am and 3pm for decades - providing vital weather data that goes into marine weather forecasts. Just another way our volunteers help save lives on the water.

10.01.2022 Marine Rescue Narooma wish everyone a safe a festive season.

08.01.2022 The busy summer holiday season is underway, and during December Marine Rescue NSW crews launched 435 rescue missions, returning 892 adults, 150 children and 12 ...animals to safety. Flat batteries accounted for 46 rescues, with groundings (28) and capsizes (18). Holiday season is family time, and if you are taking them out on the water, these rescues are a timely reminder of the importance of boating safely and carrying safety gear on board. Everyone on board should be wearing a life jacket, and you can even get one for your dog. Flares, a VHF marine radio, V-sheet and an EPIRB are other important safety items, especially if you are heading offshore. During December, the busiest MRNSW units on the water were Lake Macquarie (58 missions), Botany Port Hacking (40), Port Stephens (31), Port Jackson (24), and the MR Terrey Hills radio team who coordinated the response to 40 incidents. Thanks to all our volunteers saving lives on the water.
