25.01.2022 Floor replacement completed and final photos for this well-used Haines Formula 733. The winch mounting plates had let go and the floor had some soft spots. We stripped out the floor to find water in and around the Fuel Tank. It proved to be loose and unserviceable. A new aluminium fuel tank was built by Everingham Boats, it was then painted it in 2pac epoxy prior to install. The floor rot went all the way to the cuddy so we stripped it out as well. The stringers were in... good order so only minor repairs were required. We manufactured a gutter system for the deck hatch and connected that to a pump overboard so as to keep the underfloor dry. The floor was replaced using Thermolite Board, secured down with epoxy and glassed over. We also made the fuel filler up-stand to seal around the hose entry below the floor. After applying flowcoat the vessel is watertight from any ingress and should stay dry and mould free for years to come. With a new winch install including making a Hawsehole to let the winch wind the rope on correctly and not wear the decking, the project was completed. #thermoliteboard #boatrepair #boatmaintenance #everinghamboats #ccacompositeboards #marineteamaustralia

10.01.2022 Just a snippet of last months Repairs and Refurb on this Custom Cruiser. Majority of works included the design, refit and cover of panels in both forward cabins, using Fabtex Vinyl and Warwick fabrics. New portlight trims were added to finish the rooms off. The new Tecmar toilet system took ‘pride of place’, new wet area panel, and who knew this room could look so good.... Other works included the repainting of ice boxes, saloon floors sanded and varnished, new cover sourced and fitted for the TrackSat, no more yellow and the engine room was ‘wow’ with the fitting of new carpet. It is amazing what a difference a few repairs and updates make to your vessel. #customrefit #shipwright #boatrepair #warwick.fabrics #fabtex #marineteamaustralia

08.01.2022 The owner was very happy with the Swim Platform upgrade and extension and so were we! The existing cradle for the Tender on the swim platform was dangerous when coming alongside the vessel in the tender. A trip hazard and not aesthetically pleasing. We came up with a new cradle design that could be easily removed and stowed once the tender is deployed, leaving the swim platform hazard free! We also extended the teak platform, allowing for more room and better access betwee...n the tender and the transom. Another project on the Grand Banks 'to do list' was New Teak to the Cockpit, those images are coming. Add a full boat detail whilst we were at it and it was looking a real picture on the water. #swimplatform #teakplatform #hydraulicswimplatform #marineteamaustralia

07.01.2022 Gifted to Bay Islands Community Services Inc. a few years ago it was time for a revamp for the Hood 23. Many volunteer hours later 'Nereides' looked the picture with new Antifoul and Paintworks. A real team effort by Graham, Don, Kerry & Rob and it was Marine Team Australia absolute pleasure to offer our support with their project. BICSI provide a range of services to the islands of Russell, Macleay, Lamb and Karragarra. They have two community centres, one on Russell Isl...and and the other on Macleay Island. Their maritime division is run by volunteers and they have two vessels, one of them being this one called 'Nereides'. They offer sailing lessons and sailing activities for the communities use. 06.01.2022 Stern Thruster Install - No Stress! Our client wanted more peace of mind when berthing his 50' Kingfisher in close quarters in the Marina. The big girl carries a fair bit of windage with her enclosed flybridge. We installed a Side Power 100kg 24volt Thruster. Combined it with the existing Wireless Remote and added a Dual Joystick to the Helm. ... Antifouled as well and back in the water, 15 knots of breeze off the Stern Quarter and the Skipper Docked it with ease next to another 50 footer. The clients were suitably impressed. No stress! #sidepower #amisales #marineteamaustralia #bowthruster #sternthruster

04.01.2022 Over the moon with the Remote Control and how the Thrusters and boat are performing Our client was finding it challenging to manoeuvre his Runaway 36’ in and around the marina particularly when there was a significant breeze. Due for an Antifoul, we were asked if we could assess the vessel and suggest the contributing factors and possible remedies for this issue. Due to the owners commitments our window period to make any improvements was 10 days.... Our Skipper tested the vessel and identified the following issues: * The existing Stern Thruster was not producing any measurable push. * The Rudder response was negligible. * On lifting the vessel, we could see the Rudder was very small in area for the size of the vessel. The Steering Ram was too small along with the hydraulic hoses. The Tiller Arm on the Rudder Shaft was too short. A colleague Engineer confirmed this along with some improvements that could be made: * The Stern Thruster Prop and Prop were in need of Cleanup and New Antifoul * The Stern Thruster when installed had a long cable run and the Gauge Cable was too small. The Thruster was operating on low voltage and therefore not operating to its optimal capacity. In consultation with the owner we came up with the following sequence of improvements, taking into account their budget, time frame and biggest request being manoeuvrability.. We Antifouled the Vessel, Installed a New 95kg Bow Thruster and performed an Electrical Upgrade on the Stern Thruster. At a later date should the client request, we will plan an upgrade of the rudder and steering. Now back in water, sea trailed and a weekend away the clients are very happy with the improvements. #stellasytemsaustralia #craftsman #bowthruster #marineteamaustralia

03.01.2022 October 1st 2019 - changes to Boat Registration Labels From next Tuesday 1st October Registration Labels will no longer be required to be displayed on Queensland registered Boats and Personal Watercraft. You still need to make sure your boat is registered and you can leave the label on your vessel if you want.... Where there is no label displayed you will still be able to check boat registration expiry dates any time online simply by using the rego check facility - www.qld.gov.au/checkrego Further information in relation to these changes can be found on Maritime Safety Queensland http://tiny.cc/p9v9cz #qldrego #qldregistration #boatregistration
