16.01.2022 #repost @paulasilbertartsconsultancy @downloader_ __ Every fish drawn by Marion Le Crayon (aka Marion Vanhaecke) is unique.... They look the same, but they’re all different Like humans. On family holidays in childhood, Marion was fascinated by caricaturists working in the French street markets. I wanted to do that. So, she started drawing her own caricatures to pay for her art studies at Ecole Pivaut Superieure Technique Privee d’arts appliques in the city of Nantes. She studied comic book drawing and became interested in animation. Her current exhibition ‘Lots of Fish’ is a new side to her practice; it showcases monochrome ink drawings about women and the environment. Originals ink on paper, prints and tote bags. ‘Bathtub’ is a recent work and speaks of the micro and macro environment - the indoor plants and fish in the bathtub - in the Kerfuffle exhibition/cafe space. It aligns with her new passion, skin diving. ‘Kiss’ talks of wider emotions. In French, the words 'embrace' and 'kiss' (embrasser) are kinda the same. So, this piece is playful. The fish are coming at me and can be whatever emotion is relevant. ‘Confused’ talks of staying grounded during turmoil when emotions and circumstances are swirling around you. Sometimes you need to be fierce in love. Firm. Standing up for the ones you love, especially children. It’s not necessarily all soft and fairy like. Thus, the presence of a warrior woman in ‘Fierce Love’. Marion often works with circular and mandala shapes. Afro just evolved. I didn’t even notice her growing when I was drawing her. Caricatures - like former Prime Minister Tony Abbot - remain a playful way to deal with serious situations. It’s a good and beautiful tool to raise topics that are unfair or violent. Yet, she often draws them for celebratory occasions; weddings and family parties. I’m not sure I want to have a political view or convince people through caricature. The exhibition previews 7th to 13th May with an official launch on 14th May at Kerfuffle Cafe, 244 South Terrace, South Fremantle. A children’s drawing event is planned at cafe.

14.01.2022 Did you know this printing technique? I am using the disperse dies...! In a collage kind of way. . I have been learning a few different printing techniques these days This one is pretty easy to do at home, all you need is some paper (preferably litho paper), some disperse dies, an iron, and some synthetic fabric of your choice to print on! ... . As you can see it can get a bit tricky, the colours on the litho paper print in a much brighter tone on the fabric, once heated with the iron. But it gives a lovely watercoloury effect! I suppose it is just a matter of learning how to deal with the colours!! Thank you @angela_ferolla for this super cool workshop! . . . #textileprinting #dispersedyes #transferdyes #transferprinting #printingworkshop #colourscheme #artisfun #fremantleartcentre See more

08.01.2022 I just happen to listen to some of Maya Angelou's talks in the morning... What a woman! I like a LOT of her quotes, but this one seemed to stay stuck in my head at one point. Being successful is what you make of it, it is a very personal feeling and my success is not your success if you don't know her so much you can listen to her on YouTube or get one of her books from the library highly motivational and uplifting . . . #mayaangelouquotes #mayaangelou #blueart #bluewoman #successquotes #traditionalpainting #blueink #sketchoftheday #motivationalquotes #upliftingpeople #upliftingquotes
