25.01.2022 This is Marion, and yesterday was her birthday! We were having so much fun we forgot to celebrate with you guys!! Seventy years young and still moving rocks, trimming and picking grapes and looking after her land. You can meet Marion in her cellar door today - just pop on in and have her pour you a Cabernet Franc, Tempranillo or Syrah to warm your belly. Happy Birthday Marion!!

23.01.2022 Thanks @tascountry for the lovely write up in this weeks newspaper! It’s great to share our story of two generations of grape farming and winemaking over 40 years, and the new path forward to regenerating our land and giving back to Mother Nature. Thanks also to mum and dad who worked so hard moving all those bloody rocks! (Well...most of them)

22.01.2022 Will be a beautiful weekend!!

22.01.2022 We wanted to do a worm count today, or dig up our cow horns on this spring equinox, but the rain fell thick and hard. Instead we watched a movie called @kisstheground and was inspired by the hope that we can fix our planet. We don’t think that Mother Nature has sneezed on us to make us forget climate change, she has done it to make us realise what we can do to change. We are not sustainable farmers. How can we sustain a broken system? We are #regenerative farmers, fixing wha...t we have broken and bringing it back to life. We want to thanks those who have inspired our journey, those who have passionately and patiently educated our awareness to the #soil the reduction of chemical inputs, to the fact that many of our woes are self inflicted. Nature can feed us, nature can heal us and nature will survive us. Act now, choose regenerative practices, small farmers who care about the future and the soil. And you. Happy S P R I N G Q U I N O X Big giants hugs and to @mimicasteel @nicolemasters @bartarnst @stefanolubiano @organicwinegrowersnz @_gabebrown @charliearnott #woodieharrelson and all the other passionate people changing the world one microbe at a time and inspiring us to do so too. #carbonsequestration #soilhealthmatters #organic #wine #kissthegroundmovie #tasmania

20.01.2022 Thanks Wandering Cooks!! It’s definitely a great hair of the #sundaysessions

17.01.2022 Chapter 4 News from the Rona Vault ??? Who is Marion ??? THIS is Marion.... Each wrinkle on her face is a storyline. Far deeper than the last, and more interesting. Each has a beginning and some have had endings and some are still moving through the skin slowly. Marion has loved the responses from you, and we are patiently prodding her to get out of the olive trees or vineyard and spend time writing her story. She won’t put her feet up any time soon, but when you visit you will most likely have her pouring her wines and soul into your visit. If you look closely you’ll see her Bowie eye. While pruning one year a cane backfired and she was injured causing her retina to expand permanently. It’s pretty cool, and another story upon the stories. Another layer upon the layers. Her face is the face on our bottles. It came from an etching at a craft fair in 1969 in California, and was brought to Tasmania. Whether you like the label or not, it is unforgettable. It shows the face of the land. It is her vineyard now. She is writing the story.... Myrianthi. Marion. Mum. Yia Yia. Thanks for your story mum, you are a legend.

17.01.2022 Juicing grapes and checking sugars with the grandkids! They gotta learn some time!

17.01.2022 Thanks for the sparkling update on Cynthea Anna Semmens and our new Blanc de Blancs Vintage Tasmania! We love what you are doing for Tasmanian sparkling and great drinks in general!!

17.01.2022 . L O V E L I N E S S Did you know the collective noun for a group of ladybirds is a loveliness? This bottle is special. ... Earlier this year a group of northern Tasmanian winemaking friends got together in the haze of bushfires to consider how they could give back to their community. Collectively they could have a greater impact and a Pinot Noir was blended from their three estate vineyards. Little did they know that the months ahead would bring such turbulent times. Never have we seen a year when kindness and generosity was more important. Ladybirds are highly beneficial and represent natural resilience and a balanced ecosystem. Community is the foundation of our society, like ladybirds when we work together we can be a powerful force for good. All proceeds from this years wine will be donated to winemaker and viticulturalist Vaughn Dell’s family. Vaughn suddenly passed away in May this year, aged 39, and left behind wife Linda and daughters Esme and Clem. Please head to the @marionsvineyard website to purchase. Let’s end this year with some kindness and loveliness on your Christmas table. Launceston deliveries available. See more

15.01.2022 Chapter 1 News from the Rona Vault ??? Who is Marion ???... Marion wasn’t always Marion, nor was Marion’s Vineyard always Marion’s Vineyard, (but that’s another story). Marion, as we know her now, has just celebrated her 72nd birthday this week. She was born in Cyprus in a teeny tiny village close to Aphrodites birth place, where their family grew grapes for Commandaria and mother Anna was a distiller and tender of the vines. She migrated to Australia on a ship in 1960 with her family as the new country was recruiting Europeans to help build a thriving nation. The eldest of four children, Marion grew up in the Melbourne suburbs in a strict patriarchal environment which meant that she was rarely allowed off the beaten track. By 17, after having stayed behind in school to learn English, she left home - ran away in fact - and was helped by her employer, the State Bank of Victoria to find a new life. Afraid her dad would find her she dyed her hair blonde, and changed her name. Christened Myrianthi Anthoula Papastavrou, she changed her name to Marion Stevens and became an Aussie citizen. Marion’s new found freedom led her to a life of new beginnings, new adventures and new photos, like the ones here pictured in the mini dress she sewed herself and wearing a kangaroo skin coat, living with an elderly lady in a share house on the esplanade in St Kilda. It was here that in the mid 60’s in suburban Australia she fell in love with Little Joe from Bonanza and saved money to take a trip to America in search of her own cowboy. Stay tuned for chapter 2 : A true Ruby Princess adventure.... Post script.... Myrianthi is not a common Greek name and means a myriad of flowers. Pronounced Mee-ree-anth-ee Picture 1 Myrianthi in Cyprus Picture 2 Myrianthi aged 12 Picture 3 Myrianthi aged 14 Picture 4,5 the new Marion!!!!!

13.01.2022 L O V E It’s what will save this world. We are not big on commercialisation of crappy Hallmark holidays, and we’ve only just gotten our merde together with food, but we are opening our Aesop’s Tables at Marion's Vineyard on Valentines Day this year for 16 lucky couples to share a big fat Greek platter. Marion cooks with her whole being, and the food is a combination of her Cypriot homeland with Tasmanian freshness. A meze platter of dolmathes, spanakopita, Westhaven Hal...oumi, our own cured olives and crunchy Greek salads with marionated quails, lamb and pork Keftethes, olive bread and more. Sit in our vine covered Kaffaneo with music, your lover and the best view ever. Service from 6pm, $45 per head with a glass of Rosè or Pinot Noir included. For bookings please call Cynthea on 0418379548 Beautiful photos by Renee Marshall xx See more

11.01.2022 Chapter three - News from the Rona Vault - !!!Who is Marion!!! It certainly didn’t end in chapter two, but it took a few red pressings and a bit of wine to bottle this week to open the next chapter...Marion’s 38th vintage is done. Marion married Mark in California on September 15th 1970, in a town called Rough and Ready by a one armed justice of the peace. They lived the perfect 1970’s life, trading Twilight Fantasy candles (a method they developed) at craft fairs and were... on the cover of American Candle Maker. Between them they have seen the musical greats: the Doors, Joplin, Hendrix, Canned Heat, the Who, Jefferson Airplane, Country Joe and the Fish and more. They bought an abandoned triplex on 4 acres just outside of the bay bridge and renovated it to a thriving, eclectic apartment complex with a large garden, wading pool and a huge lawn, where Boney M played and they danced. It was the feature home on the cover of Sunset Magazine just a few years later. Then came Cynthea and later Nick and Woofle Duster the pet donkey. Backyard winemaking made them chat about a farming life out of the city and they dreamed of Oregon or Washington to make a new start. During a trip to Melbourne to see the Grandparents, they took a childless side hustle to Tassie and fell in love with a piece of land on the west Tamar and in six months the San Franciscan home was sold and the family packed up and back on the SS Canberra for their journey to an exotic South Pacific Island called Tasmania. They planted rootlings just months after arriving and their first vintage was in 1983. And that is the end of the beginning. Thanks for staying tuned, we have so much more to share over a glass of wine or three.

09.01.2022 Today is #earthday2021 but we know that every day needs to be #earthday. What would we be without her? Now, more than ever, our commitment to bettering the earth we live on is paramount. We are working from the ground up, literally returning what we have taken, back to the ground and replenishing the soil with all the microbial love. ... We have a long way to go, but judging by the bird life, and all the insects crawling around us, something is working. #theresnoplanetb #natureheals #regenerativeagriculture #itsnowornever #cleangreen #somuchmoretodo #tasmania

05.01.2022 Chapter 2 news from the Rona Vault ??? Who is Marion ??? It’s amazing what you retain from your childhood to drive you in directions you can’t explain. In Cyprus Marion grew a variety of Apple called ‘California’ and they were sweet and juicy and inviting. California was a place that beckoned and it was a stepping stone to little Joe (who had declined her invitation to marry on account he was already married while she was in transit.) In June 1968 Marion bought a return pas...sage to the US on the SS Canberra and set off - not knowing anyone - for the journey of a lifetime. California was creative, electric and inspiring, and plenty of fun for a twenty one year old. After three months of play Marion hopped aboard the ship to return. Meanwhile a handsome Californian was doing all he could to avoid conscription and bought a ticket out of SanFrancisco on the SS Canberra after swallowing 16 raw egg whites which turned his urine green during his final medical. It was destiny.... Mark was aboard the ship watching passengers walk the gang plank when he spotted a fox with long blonde hair reaching to her mini skirt. Hot Damn! This would be a good trip. He and his buddy then set out to woo the princess. Meanwhile Marion had boarded with her new fashionable accessories - blonde wigs. Having endless days to soak up sun and fun on the cruise liner, the butt length wig was tedious and put in its box for the remainder of the journey. Her natural shorter coif and her mid shoulder bob would suffice. She mingled and met as you do, and while dad was growing fond of this lovely Aussie Lady, he was waiting for the long blond temptress to return. His mate had to tell him he’d been hanging out with her many times with a different hair do. They courted in Melbourne before Mark returned to California and a long distance snail mail romance began. mark had been dining in a Greek restaurant in the San Francisco Bay Area when he asked a waiter to pen him a love letter in Greek. Unbeknownst to him, he slapped a stamp on a proposal and Marion was back in California only a few months later. 05.01.2022 Does spring growth give you a feeling of internal growth? Of possibilities and a new start? It does for us every year, and particularly this year where we have had to leave so much of the old behind. Nature forges on... always aiming to repair and replenish the systems. We can too! If there was ever a year to show us that our #regenerative #organic and #biodynamic farming changes are worthy, it’s #2020. Here’s cheers to #spring #newgrowth #innergrowth and #paradigmshift. Let’s do this!

03.01.2022 K A N A M A L U K A Our beautiful River Tamar Protects us from frost and provides humidity for flavour development. Reflects morning light to wake the vines up even earlier and start photosynthesis. Out front is a shallow breeding ground for baby flathead and her banks provide shelter for black swans and other sea birds. She is magnificent, calming, reflective and we are grateful every day to be near her.

02.01.2022 This guy... @farmernick will be in cellar door this weekend if you want to pop in for a taste and some great laughs. He is way funnier in real life than in reality life! #editingroomfloor #doeshehaveawife? Farmer Wants A Wife - Australia

01.01.2022 A little write up about a lovely project we are involved with. We have seen more ladybirds in the vineyard this year than ever, and this year more than ever is a year to be kind. If you would like to have a bottle of this wine for your Christmas table then head to our websites. It is for a great cause and we hope to be able to give back to our community for as long as possible.

01.01.2022 t h a n k y o u ! We want to thank all the special hearts who came to our Valentine dinner. It was a full house and love was in the air.
