If you live in Brisbane chances are you have either met her or at least experienced the wonder that is the Camp Hill Antique Centre and Tart Cafe @camphillantiques What is your favourite thing about visiting? I would say the vintage clothes and hats! My kids would say the milkshakes and the Smartie dispensing machine. ... Here is my artist statement for The Teller of Tales so you can understand the story behind it and get to know Sj a bit better x Sarah-Jane Walsh co-owner of Camp Hill Antique Centre is a former Assistant Film & TV Director. She has worked in props, wardrobe, post-production visual effects and animation. Some of her projects have included Peter Pan, George of the Jungle II, Narnia, H2O Just Add Water and Sea Patrol. The Teller of Tales is a lover of story and theatrical producer of her own world within an antique centre and Tart Cafe. New shows feature daily. Dressed perfectly to theme, her iconic beehive hairstyle in place, she dreams big. big props, big colours, big hair, big production, and ultimately . big risk!! Sarah-Jane created a nostalgic escape for Brisbane at Camp Hill Antique Centre, saving the 1950’s Planet Theatre from developers, transforming it into a wonderland of antiques. The proudly solar powered business sets a great example of sustainability, recycling and repurposing. Make sure you get your free tickets to the @brisbaneportraitprize. Huge congratulations to @henri_vn for winning the award for his beautiful piece HIDING PLACE II. ‘WHEN A MEMORY BECOMES A STORY OR A STORY A MEMORY’ SERIES It’s really wonderful to be a part of the exhibition and share my work alongside a lot of very talented artists, especially this year when a lot of things have lost their sparkle and events have not been able to go ahead. ... 19.01.2022 We headed into the Brisbane Portrait Prize yesterday and it was so fabulous to see all the work together and in person! It was wonderful to share this with my family and to see our children taking time to read the artist statements of the pieces that connected with them. As soon as I saw this beautiful dress, stripey stockings and oh my goodness, the platform shoes I knew this was it!
