24.01.2022 Jeeps A grades last home game for the season is on this Saturday, 27 July, from 3. Get along for a couple.

22.01.2022 It was a great catch-up at the Regatta today with Damian Rentoule and Gilbert Chee. Not too bad for a week when most of us are on a beach (or in the snow) somewhere. The beer was cold and the breeze off the river was nicely cool, and as usual, the chat was great. How lucky are we all to have each other? Happy 2018 to you all.

20.01.2022 Id dropped the ball on this, for a few good reasons, but whos up for a Saturday gathering at a yet to be determined Paddington pub on 9 June 2018, kicking off at 2 pm? Those who are keen and have tickets can then kick on to the Wallabies v Irish at Suncorp. Charlie

19.01.2022 This is an abridged version of an email I just sent. 1986 Old Boys, This is to advise of a gathering of old boys (from all years) at the school on Sunday afternoon, 8 September 2019 at 12.30 pm lunch...(Sunday week).... Organised by the Old Boys Committee, its an afternoon about: life balance, life challenges at the age of 50, community, perhaps the meaning of life and a bit more. It's not a get-together for a drink, but a gathering of Ashgrove Old Boys who have much in common, not the least of which is our shared education, which we (mostly) survived in tact and ready for the world. The theme of the day is 'Recapturing the Dream'. Its an opportunity to reflect what is truly important in life, and to re-calibrate goals and aspirations, as we might have when we were all together as youngsters, but with the benefit of having now lived a fair chunk of life. It might also be about our old boys' community and the sense of welcome and belonging those involved in our reunions have tried to cultivate and perpetuate throughout the years. Br Robert OConnor, an educated and wise man to be sure, will run the afternoon in a workshop formatit'll be pretty laid back. There will be guest speakers to finish off the day...see the attached flyer for details. Perhaps it's not for everyone, but it's an opportunity to catch up, to reflect, and to set, or continue on, a happy and productive path...and its free. If interested, please reply by email by Monday 2 September, to Tony Haling ([email protected]) or Anthony Collins ([email protected]). Hope to see you there. Regards, Charlie

18.01.2022 It was remiss of me not to share this earlier, but in case you didnt see this, 1986 old boy Ken Robinson sadly farewelled his beloved father recently, and shared this wonderful image and words in his honour. Our deepest sympathies, Ken, to you and all your family. May he Rest In Peace.

17.01.2022 Another great day with these great guys. Thanks to everyone for coming along and thanks especially to those who came from far away.

17.01.2022 Top day. 32 year reunion.

15.01.2022 Jeeps are premiers for 2018.

15.01.2022 Two years since Terry Bourke left us. Heres a little something in his memory. He loved his music https://www.facebook.com/charlie.moore.//10153945112019284

14.01.2022 Gents, Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there, and to all your dads, whether here or elsewhere. Sometimes it can be a tough and thankless job. Hope youre getting to have an orange whip and a nice lie around. Cheers

14.01.2022 Gents, its with a very heavy heart that I convey the sad news of the sudden passing of Louis Majer from the class of 1982, at the tender age of 54. Lou was a boarder from Cairns. Some of you mightve also known him through swimming. (His younger sister, Julie, was a Commonwealth Games medalist). Some might also have known him from his career as a police detective. I knew him from Cairns, where his dad, Louis Snr, started Majer Tiles. My mum was in business with them throug...h her tile and home decorating shop in Mareeba. He was a gentle giant, a great and proud dad, and a quick-witted, loyal and lovely bloke. He will be greatly missed. I still cant actually believe it, to be honest. Ill be among many raising a glass to Lou tonight and attending his funeral on Friday. (Funeral details are attached.)

13.01.2022 Were very sad to report that Tom Cranitchs dear Mum passed away recently after a long battle with illness. Her funeral is at St Finbarrs Catholic Church today (Tuesday 18 September) at 11:00 am. Sorry for the late notice (although many of you will have heard from Tom himself). ... Im sure youll join me in offering Tom our utmost sympathy, and keep him and his family in our thoughts at this, the most difficult of times.

12.01.2022 Just a friendly reminder in case you missed it. Theres another Jeeps (GPS) Rugby home game at 3:20 pm this Saturday at Yoku Road Ashgrove, and a few 1986 old b...oys are gathering there. Heres a shot of the last one a few weeks ago. Message Dave OConnor if youre keen, or just rock up. (I wont be there...its my brothers 50th...but dont let that stop ya.)

10.01.2022 Next stop: Champagnat Trust Sports Lunch...or just the afters? Friday 16 March 2018

09.01.2022 Just flagging early that our usual, annual gathering is on again, being that it is usual, and annual. Where: Breakfast Creek Hotel When: 12 noon, Saturday, 26 October 2019 (Cox Plate Day)... Put it in your diaries.

09.01.2022 BROTHER WILLIAM WADE pleaded guilty last week to concealing child sex offences. The former school principal lacked the moral strength to report paedophile teach...ers to the police. WADE was afraid his own secret would be leaked to his bosses. So he chose to do nothing. WADE will be the first senior Catholic in Australia to be jailed for covering up sex offences. https://kelsolawyers.com/au/brother-william-wade-guilty See more

08.01.2022 Gents, In case you missed the email, or hadnt seen recent exchanges here, here's another reminder of our gathering at the Breakfast Creek Hotel on Saturday 27 October 2018. Space is booked outside the public (private) bar under the sails, to the left of the main building as you look at it from the creek. Kickoff is around 12:30 pm. ... As I said in the email, don't worry if you're not a punter. The racing is a side note. The chatter is what matters. Pootsy had asked about sharing accommodation a couple of days ago, while Andy Tipping has very kindly offered a nearby hotel room that hes paid for, but cant use. Pootsy and anyone else, let me know if you still need help sorting lodgings. So there you go. It should be another cracker. Hopefully we'll see you there. Cheers Charlie

08.01.2022 Great news today. Many of you wouldve seen it, but some of you wouldnt have, so its a privilege to share that Stephen Williams has gotten the all-clear from the docs that hes officially cancer free. After months of treatment and a ton of pain and discomfort, hes come out the other side. Good on you, mate. Its a happy day for all of us, knowing you got through it. Onward and upward. Charlie

08.01.2022 Some of us are thinking of having a gathering somewhere in Paddington or Caxton Street on 9 June, starting at 2 pm. A few beverages, a few bets if youre that way inclined, and a chat with old mates. The Wallabies play the Irish at Suncorp that night, so you can kick on to the game if you have tickets. If not we can watch the game on a big screen somewhere. Thoughts?

07.01.2022 Merry Xmas all yall. Have a great day. Heres a bit of the memorabilia Stephen Williams gave to me share.

01.01.2022 1986 old boys, its with great sadness that I relay the news that Lachlan McLeod from the 1985 year passed away recently. Lachlan would be known to many of you, partly because he was born in 1969 and played in many of our years sporting teams over the years at school. His funeral is this Friday the 22nd of June at 10am at K M Smith at Bowen Hills.... Vale Lachlan. May he Rest In Peace.
