22.01.2022 Marry Christmas and happy New Year from all at AMC Search!

21.01.2022 Eight members of the Australian Mine Warfare Team 16 have just completed the AUV Basic Operators course at the Australian Maritime College in Tasmania. The training familiarises personnel with AUV technology, mission planning and practical equipment operations. The training was extremely effective with LCDR Simon Abley from the Royal Australian Navy stating "the AUV Basic Course has been very beneficial as AMC’s instructors have extensive experience and an in-depth knowledge ...of Autonomous Systems. The training method allows us to easily transfer our new knowledge and practical skills to the Navy‘s Mine Warfare AUV capability and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with AMC over the duration of my time in command of Australian Mine Warfare Team 16." AMC Search run several Autonomous Maritime Systems training courses, visit https://www.amcsearch.com.au/ams-training for more information. #Defence #AUV #Maritime See more

19.01.2022 Earlier this year, the IMO Maritime Safety Committee approved a modernisation plan for the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). The plan will require comprehensive amendments to Solas Chapters III and IV, together with related and consequential amendments to other existing IMO instruments. Although the final changes will not be fully implemented until 2024, keeping GMDSS qualifications up-to-date is potentially life saving. To try and make it as easy as possible to keep qualifications up-to-date, AMC Search is squeezing in one more GMDSS Renewal training course in Tasmania on December 14-17. Simply follow this link to book a place on the course: https://hubs.la/H0z87gc0

08.01.2022 A highly manoeuvrable and hydrodynamically efficient fast crew boat (FCB) that was scale model tested at the Australian Maritime College has been successfully handed over to its new owners at a ceremony in Singapore. The Generation 3 hull form vessel was developed by Strategic Marine in close collaboration with long-term design partner Southerly Designs in Western Australia and was extensively tested at the AMC towing tank in Launceston. Tests resulted in an optimised hull t...hat had better hydrodynamic efficiency (at the upper end of the tested speeds) than any monohull of similar size ever tested at the AMC (up to that date). The outcomes from this project have now successfully filtered through to numerous new designs for semi-planing vessels from Southerly Designs, including offshore service vessels, fishing boats and patrol vessels such as the Tasmania Police vessel Cape Wickham. 08.01.2022 AMC Search's very own AUV Engineers Reuben Kent (middle of picture) has just returned from the Mariana Trench where he took part in the latest Caladan Oceanic mission to the Challenger Deep, the deepest point on Earth. From his hotel quarantine room in Sydney, Reuben has penned this personal reflection of the mission and the role he played in the mission... I was invited to participate in the mission in a specialist communication and support role, joining AMC engineer James K...eane and AMC alumni Tim McDonald who also participated in the mission. We joined the DSSV Pressure Drop in Guam on the February 23. After several days of training and familiarisation we set off on an approximately 24hr steam to the dive site. The ocean was a surreal vibrant blue. It was clear to all onboard that we were in very deep water! Read the full story here: https://hubs.la/H0JYJzD0
