12.01.2022 An SAS veteran has returned to the Sunshine Coast on a mission to give struggling soldiers a new lease on life. It’s been four years since Grant Monaghan founded Maritime Warrior on the Gold Coast but he and wife Deb have since come home to Buderim. The former Special Air Service Regiment soldier and navy diver said Maritime Warrior was open to men and women from all serving backgrounds to help them settle back into society. Mr Monaghan took about 10 serving soldiers on-board... his yacht, Run Amuk, on a wellness and skills course around Mooloolaba on Thursday. He teamed up with fellow organisation Mates 4 Mates, Legacy, Soldier On just to name a few to hit the ocean. The soldiers learnt how to sail, navigate and tackle potentially rough seas under the watchful eye of Mr Monaghan. He said the course was for former or current soldiers who were going through injury rehabilitation, post traumatic stress disorder or other issues. Some of these guys have been medically separated from the military and are going through uncertain times, Mr Monaghan said. But just by being near the water, their spirits lift up. It’s a calming influence, it gives them time to breathe. They realise they’re going through ups and downs but the water improves them medically and mentally. By the end of it, it might inspire them to go out on the kayak with their families. Having something to do in a positive environment might keep the family together. Mr Monaghan said if he helped just one veteran than his job was worth it. Matty Holdsworth - Sunshine Coast Daily

06.01.2022 Soldier On's making the most of it between our Queensland rainy days. Great to have Lloyd Harris leading the charge as the new Soldier On Social Connections Officer for the region. In typical form we made sure he was the centre of anything that went wayward being burnt steaks, fishing line tangles, things blowing overboard and the list goes on.... In all seriousness, great feedback on how the participants felt more to encouraged to engage in future social activities, some felt less anxiety and all more relaxed. Best of all, heading towards being the best model of themselves . Nice to have such a cool & diverse group aboard representing all three services......thanks for a nice day.

06.01.2022 Anyone looking for something to do tomorrow morning we have a few spots left on our morning cruise. All proceeds go to our Veteran Project Maritime Warrior www.runamukcruises.com.au
