09.01.2022 YESSSS!!!!!! IT LIVES !!!!!!? Idles between 800 and 1800 RPM and runs a bit rough . . . . . . .... BUT REJOICE ! IT LIVES !! Now for the really fun part, getting it to DRIVE!

03.01.2022 So, after all of the excitement of yesterday, now comes the detailed description of WHY the beastie wouldn't run. Turns out that you actually need both fuel (loads of that squirting all over the place!) AND sparks !! And if the tiny weeny little carbon post widget inside the middle of the distributor cap decides to magically disappear, the sparks can't make the journey from the coil (functioning perfectly as I inadvertently found out painfully!!) to the sparkplugs. So hav...ing finally determined a possible explanation, the four hours spent removing all those pesky bits & pieces that are in the way, changing the dissy cap, and refitting same pesky bits & pieces turned out to be a worthwhile exercise in knuckle-skinning & expletive verbalisation! And just to confirm, any tool dropped whilst working on a car WILL most definitely, roll to the most inaccessible location possible! Now it's time to hopefully get my ageing brain around the computer side of things. See more
