25.01.2022 MENTORING HOTSHOTS I benefited a lot from mentoring secondments when I was developing my career across project marketing, residential & commercial real estate. As a principal today, I have peer to peer IP swaps regularly. When you teach something, you take your own learning to a different level. If you develop a system or protocol that is completely unique, then it’s very important to test it and train it on the broadest cross section possible. This provides a massive win fo...r the mentee and leads towards mastery for the mentor. I love giving back to the industry I love so much, given my schedule is down to minutes most days, I use a rotation system throughout leaders in our business. Given the volume of requests we get, I also try to lean towards accepting mentoring engagements from those businesses who have supported our business, or that we may do business with in the future. 18.01.2022 THE SATISFACTION OF GREAT TEAM WORK I really love this case study that just unfolded of this week on this brand new apartment in Lume by @domagroup_ I have a great client & business peer that I have done business with over a 10 to 15 year period on and off. Through this mutual support and collaboration that we have had in our respective industries, we had developed a respect and appreciation for what each other’s businesses do and have therefore had the confidence to use ea...ch other’s services and refer each other’s services & refer each other. This harbour-side apartment was purchased off the plan in a very hot market at quite an attractive price. There are now a number of re-sales going on and there has been a bit of competition in this project and others nearby. I knew the pressure was on because I had the trust of a client that also works in an industry where the IP, strategy and execution are everything. There were a lot of other recent examples to compare to and whilst I knew that we had the plan, I had to depend on the team members to deliver the results. Well, that’s exactly what happened. This outcome is a perfect example of where having a full team that are aligned to the one cause collaborating together creates an upside in results that are far above the cost of our services. @alexbrooksprd did a fantastic job working with one of his repeat clients and went beyond the call of duty to deal with them personally on this listing which, was not even under his name or regular area of activity. @chasse_prd._newcastle_ was excellent in that he put the client first and even though he had a buyer offering as well, we presented the options for the client to make their decision on the merits of each buyer. @brooketaylor_prd was tireless in getting contracts, vendor communications and solicitors in order, @natalietonksprd was also available any time called upon. In a competitive negotiation that went over the space of around a week and dealing with solicitors after hours on Friday night and Saturday, we ended up with a precedent setting result for the product category in the development and a very happy buyer.
