28.01.2022 Happy New Year All! Hope you are enjoying this holiday period with family and friends. The start of a new year is a great chance to reflect, recalibrate and re-direct where you would like to spend your energy.... One of the hardest things to do is change, there’s a part of our psyche that wants us to stay the same even though it may not be contributing to being our best self. ‘SMART’ goals are a widely used excellent system BUT I also think accountability can really help. Did you know that according to research out of University of Scranton only 8% of people achieve their New Years goals? However, committing to someone actually increases the chances of completing that goal to 65%! I’ve had many accountability partners and still do. They can be one of the hardest things to have. There have been many times where I have projected my hate and anger all over them as I work through my own self defeating behaviours in achieving a goal. If you would like any assistance in achieving any type of health goal, please let me know. I’m here to help. Alternatively, I hope you find a method of achieving your goals that works for you. Wishing you a happy, healthy, prosperous 2022! https://www.forbes.com//just-8-of-people-achieve-their-n/ https://www.afcpe.org//the-standard/2018-3/the-power-of-a/

21.01.2022 It was an absolute pleasure to deliver 'A Holistic Approach to Weight Loss' to a little gathering at Wray Organic Mount Gravatt on Wednesday night. There were some excellent questions ranging from the influence of mental/emotional aspects on the body to the effects of caffeine on the hormonal system. If you have any questions about health or body shape change, feel free to drop them in the comments below or send me a message. Keep well .

18.01.2022 What is a Holistic Approach to Weight Loss? It is assessing the whole person, taking into account mental and lifestyle factors rather treating symptoms (such as calorie counting). What is the benefit of this approach?... Understand the root cause of imbalances Growth and development as a person when being challenged with changing behaviour and assessing any mental/emotional challenges that may be causing stress on the body Long term permanent results with a new understanding of how to manage oneself If you'd like any further information, feel free to attend a seminar that I'm hosting on 24 Feb (Wednesday night) at Wray Organic in Mount Gravatt. A few more details have been provided in the vid attached. Keep well MV

21.12.2021 Ever wondered whether you have a fungal overgrowth in your body? The answer may well be . . . No, I actually have a life and don’t read health books all day Mark. Well that’s understandable but did you know it can lead to some of the following symptoms:... Tiredness and fatigue Digestive Issues such as constipation, diarrhea, nausea, gas, cramps and bloating Recurring Urinary Tract Infections Sinus infections Skin and nail fungal infections Joint pain Bad breathe Weight Gain Weight Loss (less common) Candida is thought to be the most common cause of fungal infections in humans. When it’s at proper levels in the body, it is a fungus that aids with nutrient absorption and digestion, but when candida overproduces, it can then become a serious concern that causes a wide variety of negative and serious health problems. If you are ever interested in having levels of Candida checked within your body, feel free to shoot through a message #guthealth #holistichealth #holisticapproach #holistichealthbrisbane #holistichealthpractitioner

17.12.2021 SOCIAL LIFE GUT HEALTH Are they correlated in anyway? An interesting study was published earlier this year which found that:... Individuals with low gut microbiome diversity had higher levels of loneliness and lower levels of other pro-social factors. The increase in loneliness was also linked to a decrease in feelings of wisdom, compassion, and social support. Loneliness and social isolation are linked to worse physical health, functional decline and even premature death (this was actually another study cited within the one provided in this post) https://www.frontiersin.org//10.3389/fpsyt.2021.648475/full Are you socialising enough to meet your individual needs? Are you engaging with people that enrich your life in some way and are supportive of your journey? A couple of questions for you to think about #guthealth #holistichealth #brisbaneholistichealth #mentalhealth #mindset #holisticapproach

02.12.2021 What is behind ANXIETY? We all get it from time-to-time, some people have it chronically. It can be as a result of something physical that may rev up the nervous system such as:... Processed sugar Heavy metals Excess electronic exposure Nutritional imbalances Or, it can be as a result of some parts of the psyche that need to be addressed such as: Inherited / genetic anxiety Buried past trauma / abuse Fear of moving into a certain direction Within this video, have shared some tips on how to best work with anxiety because if communicated with well, it can hold a lot of wisdom and point us in to the direction we need to go. 18.11.2021 What can I actually EAT!? This can be a very confusing topic. There is a lot of information out there which are often influenced by confirmation biases and profiteering. In this video, I hope to provide some practical, easy-to-implement tips on what nutrition may work for you individually. I personally think that there are a number of factors at play such as ancestral background, levels of stress, the weather / season and levels of physical activity just to name a few.... Please let me know if you have any questions about any of the content provided. 14.11.2021 Changing Ourselves . . . Why is it so HARD? Many of us have goals and wonder why we are not able to achieve them. Sure sometimes it can be circumstantial but often it is our inability to change. So why is it so hard to change? Well we all have an Ego, which is essentially an ideas construct developed over time (especially in our formative years) and part of its function is to help us feel safe, irrespective of how dysfunctional it may be to having good health or reaching any... particular goal you may have. An unhealthy Ego is incredibly rigid and may struggle to adapt, while a healthy Ego is open to change, new belief systems and can adapt in a changing environment to thrive. Within this video, I have provided some tips on how to have a healthy Ego. Hope you enjoy #mindset #selfsabotage #holistichealth #brisbaneholistichealth

21.10.2021 ZINC This essential nutrient Zinc has long been known to provide exceptional support to the immune system as well as playing other important functions such as hormone production and nutrient absorption. Interestingly, some studies are showing that Zinc may provide some support in the body’s response to SARS CoV-2. There is still a lot more research to be done on this particular topic but given there are some estimates that 25% of the world’s population is at risk of Zinc ...deficiency, thought to provide a timely reminder to ensure that we are consuming enough. Here are some foods high in Zinc: Shellfish (especially oysters) Grassfed lamb and beef Chickpeas Cashews and pumpkin seeds Hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions on this topic which is not controversial at all STUDIES https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/articles/PMC7923946/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/labs/pmc/articles/PMC8349606/ https://www.biorxiv.org/co/10.1101/2021.06.15.448551v1.full #naturalimmunity #holistichealthbrisbane
