Comments: The massive orange glow on the horizon was caused when lightning, from the approaching storm, took out the power to the massive Otway Gas Plant at Waare. The natural gas plant automatically goes into a process of de-pressurizing. Gas is vented into the air via a large chimney and is burnt off as it is being vented. The gas plant is 12 kms away (as the crow flies) from where the photo was taken.
