25.01.2022 One Nation will be preferenced by the LNP at this election once again - what a disgrace! Electing One Nation extremists on LNP preferences would be a disaster for our values of fairness, equal opportunity and a fair go. It would also be a disaster for our Queensland economy and jobs - giving Pauline Hanson the whip hand over economic decisions if Deb Frecklington became Premier.... Given they both wanted the borders opened while the second wave surged in Victoria - Queensland just can’t risk a reckless Frecklington-Hanson Government - it would be a shambles.
25.01.2022 COVID Update: Queensland borders will open to Victoria and Greater Sydney from 1am tomorrow.
24.01.2022 BREAKING: 40 people will be able to dance at weddings! Today we've released Queensland's Roadmap for October, November and December. This is only possible because of Queensland's strong health response lead by the Palaszczuk Government.... As part of our road to recovery, from the 1st of November, 40 people will be able to dance at weddings. Weddings will still require a COVID Safe Plan. You can read more here: https://bit.ly/36o73fK

22.01.2022 The murals along the Veloway at Tarragindi look an absolute treat. I have been receiving plenty of positive feedback from the local community. This section of the Veloway has not just been a boost for road safety but is now also adding some colour and life to the old motorway. ... Check out the so far completed artworks.
22.01.2022 I strongly support this Palaszczuk Labor Government/City Council funded 12 month trial of a CBD Cycle Grid for Brisbane. I’ve advocated for this for many years as have many cycling groups as the last mile in the CBD for commuter cyclists is perilous currently. It’s a positive step forward to see it confirmed today by the Brisbane City Council after working with our government and cycling groups. ... I have little doubt it will be well used and will be a permanent CBD feature making it safer for bike riders in the CBD
22.01.2022 Congratulations Georgia Thomas on being awarded her Queen’s Scout at a ceremony at Clifton Hill Scouts Group this afternoon. It couldn’t have been a tougher year to achieve that and complete year twelve in the middle of a global pandemic. Well done and thanks to all her supported her over thirteen years - her parents Derek and Mary, many scout leaders and members. ... Well done Georgia!
22.01.2022 A big shout out to Bruno and his fabulous Bruno’s Cafe staff at Tarragindi... always friendly, swift and high quality coffee and food. It’s only been four years but they are a much loved part of our community! Gotta love the glasses!!
22.01.2022 Don't forget the Sherwood State Primary School Family Fun Day is on tomorrow from 10am. In between the rides and entertainment, why don't you drop by my stall and try and guess how many jelly beans are in the jar for your chance to not only win the jelly beans, but also a $100 gift voucher! For more details check out the Family Fun Day Page: ... Sherwood State School FETE See more
22.01.2022 It’s the last straw for single-use plastics in Queensland. When we asked Queenslanders about the future of single-use plastics such as straws and stirrers, 94% told us it was time for a change. We’re listening to Queenslanders - this week in Parliament we’ll reintroduce laws to ban single-use plastics.... These laws include important exemptions that recognise the needs of people with a disability, those in aged care and health sector. #recycling
22.01.2022 BREAKING: A huge milestone for renewables For the first time in history, 20% of Queensland's energy generation is sourced from renewables such as solar and wind energy. Renewable energy helps protect our environment and supports household budgets Queensland now has the lowest power prices on the east coast of Australia. The Palaszczuk Government will keep investing in renewables and partnering with the private sector to put downward pressure on power prices and achieve o...ur target of 50% renewables by 2030. #renewables
21.01.2022 Great to have an early ride this morning with Chris Cox from Space for Cycling through seat of Miller! Some good cycling infrastructure in place with recently opened veloway at Tarragindi from Gaza Rd over Marshall Rd, the River Loop, the long established bike bridge at Walter Taylor built when I was a City Councillor but much more to be done. Sherwood Rd between Rocklea and Sherwood needs some planning and then upgrades in the road reserve and across the rail line as it’s qu...ite unsafe for cyclists, as does Fairfield Rd now that the new Ipswich Rd Motorway cycleway was opened from Granard Rd to Oxley Rd a few weeks ago by the Palaszczuk Government. It’s an obvious desire line north into the CBD and a better corridor for bikes than the intense Ipswich Rd. We’re working with BCC to widen underneath the rail line on Oxley Rd at Corones/Sherwood which will include active travel design as it’s a bit squeazy there. Great to see the 2m path being widened to a 3m shared path in Tarragindi beside the freeway by the state government from Sunshine Ave to Greenslopes Busway station. (Pic below of it underway) Potential in a few other Council intersections as well which we discussed along the way which need some simple attention which I’ll raise with Cr Nicole and see what can be done there talking to Council whose roads they are. Thanks to Chris for the ride and especially at such an early hour!
21.01.2022 A big congratulations to the Yeronga South Brisbane Football Club Women's team for being crowned the QAFLW Premiers for 2020. This team has not only been kicking plenty of goals on the field but have been kicking as many goals off the field with their commitment and dedication to training and commitment to inclusiveness in their team and club.
21.01.2022 Breaking Zero new cases of coronavirus overnight. Latest update with Annastacia Palaszczuk MP and Mark Ryan MP 28/09/20
20.01.2022 A couple of close guesses Sherwood State School FETE. You still have time to guess how many jelly beans there are in the jar.

18.01.2022 Queensland borders are now open to Greater Sydney and Victoria! Thanks to the hard work of Queenslanders and our interstate counterparts, we are able to once again welcome visitors into our state. Welcome Back! Queensland is #GoodtoGo
17.01.2022 Dropped into Sherwood State Primary School today to congratulate Archer on him winning my Christmas Card Design Competition. Archer was very excited, as were the rest of his Prep class, that his card will be going to every letterbox in the Miller Electorate. Once again a big thank you to all the local schools and parents and a special thank you to all the young artists who submitted a design this year.
16.01.2022 BREAKING: Restrictions eased in Qld thanks to fantastic health response. Queensland’s roadmap to easing restrictions for October, November and December - released!
15.01.2022 At the beginning of 2020, the last thing I expected was the emergence of potent and highly contagious virus that would kill more than one million people in painful, slow, lonely deaths across the globe. That’s roughly equivalent to the whole population of Brisbane. Fortunately, Queensland acted early and we’ve been hardline on stopping the virus and we’ve been world leading in saving lives and saving jobs as a result.... How? Because we listen and act on health advice, not political advice. That’s not always popular but it’s effective and it’s the right thing to do. As 1,000,000 shows... we are not out out of the woods yet with second waves common worldwide. But we’ll keep our successful health approach in place as we implement our economic plan for recovery to restore economic confidence and jobs across Queensland.
15.01.2022 Dr Young has been working tirelessly to make sure Queensland is able to recover from the pandemic. Let's give her a huge thank you!
10.01.2022 It's Happy Hour in Queensland from 4pm today! As part of the Roadmap to Easing Restrictions released today, Queenslanders will be able to stand and have a drink from 4pm today! Social distancing still needs to be remembered and practised of course but good to see more normalcy returning. ... This announcement is only possible because of the strong health decisions the Palaszczuk Government has made down at the border and the hard work Queenslanders have put in to sticking to the rules. Great job Queensland!
10.01.2022 Jobs = Labor = LNP That’s the choice...
09.01.2022 When you look at the fine print, the LNP’s ‘promise’ today to ‘boost’ health care is actually a cut to health staff across all categories Compare frontline staff the Palaszczuk Labor Government has restored post Newman below versus the LNP tricky and slippery policy and it’s clear the LNP have more cuts planned just like when Deb Frecklington was Campbell Newman’s Assistant Minister. A leopard doesn’t change its spots.
09.01.2022 $100 million of the $1 billion in Queensland road stimulus is going to sealing dirt roads just like the Cramsie-Muttaburra Rd. Fantastic to check out the progress underway now thanks to Longreach Regional Council workers like George & concreter Jake
08.01.2022 Huge shout out to Harry Melides Optometrist at Moorooka... he did my best ever glasses (indestructible!) with the latest high tech gear a few years ago and his customer service and support is 100% positive all the way. Well done Harry! Moorooka is so lucky to have had you for so long!
08.01.2022 "Why are you spending so long with your patients?" Louise is local nurse from Miller, who worked under QLD Health during Deb Frecklington's run as Newman's Assistant Treasurer. Hear her story below
07.01.2022 Another zero new cases day for Queensland on the virus front. Well done Queenslanders on social distancing and enhanced hand hygiene! Under Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk’s strong leadership, Queensland will continue to listen and act on health advice from our Chief Health Officer to protect Queenslanders’ lives and our economy from a second wave.
06.01.2022 Come on down to the official opening of the Tarragindi Community Garden on Sunday 11 October. There will be food trucks and community stalls from Midday through to 5pm with the official opening ceremony at 1.45pm. There is also an opportunity for locals to sponsor a tree or a sleeper for just $50 and help keep growing this wonderful addition to our local community.
06.01.2022 Christmas will be even more special this year with our borders reopening to Victoria from 1 December 2020. Despite everything 2020 has thrown at us, Queenslanders have stayed strong and supported each other. For those with loved ones down south, make sure they know that Queensland is good to go!
05.01.2022 The first government ever in Australia made up of 50% women in cabinet was the Palaszczuk Labor Government in 2015 after the defeat of Campbell Newman’s LNP. That could never have happened without trailblazer women who broke through into politics in the 1970s & 1980s like Susan Ryan who was a federal cabinet Minister under Bob Hawke who passed away recently. It’s always hardest being the first and Susan Ryan was amazing.

03.01.2022 BREAKING: No new cases of COVID-19 recorded in Queensland overnight with Annastacia Palaszczuk MP and Cameron Dick MP We’re investing $30 million to build two new wharves at the Cairns Marine Precinct, creating long-term job security in the region. The funding will deliver 150 new jobs during construction alone.... This is all part of our Cairns/Far North Queensland Regional Recovery Action Plan.
03.01.2022 Don’t worry girls and boys, Santa is good to go for Christmas! Santa and his reindeer have been given special permission to visit Queensland and deliver pressies this year. Children are encouraged to put out treats, but make sure you wash your hands beforehand!... #Christmas
02.01.2022 Local residents were telling my terrific volunteers this morning that Queensland's economic recovery has only been possible because of our world leading health response. There’s a lot of concern locally that given Deb Frecklington cut 14000 Queensland jobs when she was Campbell Newman’s Assistant Minister and on his razor gang, that she’ll cut more frontline health workers and services if she got the chance. Now is not the time to risk the LNP.
02.01.2022 The Cross River Rail project is making huge progress underground to build our first genuine underground line in Brisbane! I dropped by yesterday at the new Boggo Rd Station construction site that will integrate with the neighbouring Park Rd train station & Boggo Rd busway station to provide a direct line into the heart of the CBD for the first time
01.01.2022 The global pandemic placed an unprecedented burden on the health workforce - our midwives have shown incredible resolve and courage through it all. This pandemic has shown us that midwives and our entire health workforce will continue to play a pivotal role in shaping our future and meeting the healthcare needs of Queenslanders. Thank you, to all of our hard-working Queensland Midwives!
