25.01.2022 The Australasian College of Road Safety recently came to Parliament to discuss their ongoing work to reduce road trauma. The Australian Government is committing $2 billion over the next 18 months under a new Road Safety program to deliver lifesaving road improvements. In regional areas the funding will go towards:... - road shoulder sealing - installation of audio tactile line marking - physical barriers to prevent run-off road crashes and - median treatments to prevent head-on vehicle collisions. In urban areas, the program will fund: - raised pedestrian intersections and - tactile line marking and treatments to separate bike riders from vehicles and pedestrians. @ACRSRoadsafety

21.01.2022 With our farming community in the thick of harvest and summer fast approaching, I'm encouraging rural Australians to get a skin check. Today, former Australian test cricketer and now farmer, Peter Taylor and I caught up to highlight how important it is to have yearly skin checks - as we both do! Sadly, skin cancer is often referred to the country's ‘National Cancer’, with Australia’s rates estimated to be the highest in the world.... If you've never had a skin check, your local GP is the best place to start. For more tips, visit https://bit.ly/2I2dcEH

18.01.2022 Last week I was pleased to announce that shovels will be hitting the ground across the Parkes electorate as more than $9 million worth of projects have been approved under Phase Two of the Government’s $1.5 billion Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. It's great to see councils in the Parkes electorate are getting on with spending this money, which will not only improve local roads and provide for new and upgraded amenities across the region, it will also suppor...t job creation, construction businesses and economic growth. A total of 53 projects across the Parkes electorate are due to be completed by the end of the year, creating 330 full time equivalent jobs. 16.01.2022 Regional Australians face challenges and the Australian Government stands firm with them. Through the 2020-21 Budget, we are investing $1.2 billion in measures improving regional, rural, and remote health, including: $125 million Regional Clinical Trials - Delivering infrastrcuture required to run clinical trials in regional areas. Allowing regional Australians to access cutting-edge treatments and encouraging highly-skilled health professionals into the regions.... $3.3 million Innovative Models - Funding a series of projects where local solutions are tested to address local challenges to deliver better local health outcomes. These trials have been developed via ground-breaking collaboration between Western NSW PHN, Western NSW Local Health District, and NSW Rural Doctors Network. Expanding Rural Training Opportunities - $50.3 million to build on the Rural Health Multi-disciplinary Training (RHMT) program. This will deliver a new University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) in a rural location and expand offerings in existing locations. Continuing and expanding the office of the National Rural Health Commissioner. Prof Ruth Stewart has begun her tenure and will soon be joined by two Deputy Commissioners. These Deputies will provide important advice on Allied health, Nursing, and Indigenous Health matters, broadening the Commissioner’s scope. 16.01.2022 DonateLife #ThankYouDay is the perfect opportunity for each of us to give thanks and acknowledge the generosity of donors and their families for giving the gift of life. I want to personally thank donors and their families for saying ‘yes’ to donation, giving someone else a second chance. It only takes a minute to register to become a donor, so please go to www.donatelife.gov.au and start a conversation with your family and friends about organ and tissue donation. #donatelife
16.01.2022 Terrific to officially open the brand new canteen at Larkin Oval in #Nyngan today, which provides yet another drawcard for Nyngan to attract sporting games and other community functions. 15.01.2022 Pleased to inspect this healthy hemp crop on Ross Munro's property near Moree earlier this week, and hear about the great potential for this emerging industry to deliver medicinal benefits.
15.01.2022 I took the opportunity in Parliament today to share some local examples of how regional Australia is an engine room that will help to drive our national recovery from COVID-19. I highlighted stories of regional business and enterprise success in the Parkes electorate, including those of leading ag exporter Roger Fletcher, car dealer principal David Hayes and local businesswoman Kerrieanne Nichols, who all illustrate how hard work and vision pay dividends to entire communities.
14.01.2022 Well done to Trangie United Services Memorial Club and Sunset Strip Progress Association, both in the Parkes electorate, which have received grants for projects that will preserve our local wartime heritage. 11.01.2022 With just two weeks left to apply for the latest round of grants for remote airstrips, I urge all owners or operators of aerodromes in remote or very remote areas of the electorate to throw their hat in the ring for funds.

11.01.2022 What a fantastic 2021 Warialda Show. Congratulations to the hard working committee of volunteers as well as all the exhibitors, competitors, spectators and the Warialda and wider community.
09.01.2022 Family-owned #Gunnedah business HE SILOS is experiencing well-earned success off the back of a bumper harvest season, supported by practical government policy. Terrific to hear firsthand from owners Darryl and Cherylee Morrison how key Federal Government initiatives are translating to business profitability in the region. This business is seeing the benefits of a full tax write-off for eligible depreciable assets for its customers - this tax incentive is helping farmers... to invest in key farm inputs such as silos. Additionally, HE Silos will be utilising a 50 per cent wage subsidy being offered by the Government as they take on new apprentices. 08.01.2022 Coolabah Hall is looking very impressive indeed, following renovations made possible with $170,957 under the Drought Communities Programme! Thanks to Bogan Shire Council and the hall committee for your warm welcome today as we officially opened the new facilities.
07.01.2022 So much of what we now do can be done online, so it makes sense that heavy vehicle drivers can now record their work and rest hours in an electronic work diary (EWD). An EWD is an electronic recording system, approved by the heavy vehicle regulator, to record the work and rest times of a driver as a voluntary alternative to the written work diary. More than 200,000 written work diaries are used by heavy vehicle drivers each year.... This announcement cuts red tape and means drivers can record their work and rest hours by simply pressing a button, rather than spending time ruling lines and counting multiple time periods on multiple pieces of paper. 07.01.2022 We are incredibly close to ending #polio for good! Today on World Polio Day, I want to remind Australians that polio eradication deserves our attention and support to overcome the last hurdle of ridding the world of polio. It is possible as of this year, Africa is officially polio-free after decades of hard work. ... However, as the global polio program continues to stamp out polio in the last few places where it exists, they’re up against COVID-19 too, which had made the fight even harder. The Australian Government has invested more than $100 million over the past three decades toward the eradication of polio, and we recognises these additional challenges and remain committed to a world without polio. @Steve Georganas MP and I are co-chairs of the Parliamentary Friends Of Polio Survivors and caught up this week to remind our colleagues about the challenges polio survivors face in day to day life. This #WorldPolioDay marks 20 years since Australia was declared polio free. Polio Australia Post-Polio Health International (PHI)
06.01.2022 Remembrance Day is one of the most significant dates on our national calendar. Each year at the 11th hour, on the 11th day, of the 11th month, our nation pauses for a minute’s silence to remember those who have died in wars, conflicts and peace operations; a fitting and solemn tribute to our fallen. I encourage all residents of the Parkes electorate to take a moment today to reflect on the sacrifice of those who have given their lives so that we can live ours.... And I urge you to reach out to and thank our Second World War veterans, of which around 12,000 are still with us today. Lest We Forget.
