21.01.2022 This week is Men's Health Week (15-21st Jun) - We would like to use this opportunity to celebrate the good things that men and boys contribute to our lives and to share a few tips on health and wellbeing. When it comes to prevention and early detection of health issues, men's health often take a back seat to women's health. However, do you know that men are more likely to suffer from heart problems at an earlier age? A large percentage (80%) of spinal cord injuries occur... in young male? And the majority (70%) of learning or developmental disabilities affect boys? When it comes to providing men with the best health outcome, prevention and early detection is absolutely crucial. Only 30% of a man’s overall health is determined by his genetics. Therefore, having a Y-chromosome is not an excuse for unhealthy lifestyle choices. There’re so many things we can do early on to prevent future issues. Visit our Google My Business Page( http://tiny.cc/njgwqz ) where we will be sharing some useful suggestions on how men can take good care of their health and overall wellbeing. 17.01.2022 When we think about sugar, we'll often associate these with the white granules we put in our coffee or tea But sugar can come in many different forms and most of them cause tooth decay when consumed frequently. There are over 50 common types of sugar and many of their chemical names are often unnoticed on food labels - these are the 'hidden sugar' that we should be aware of Look out for these names on the ingredient list on food labels. Even foods and drinks which claim to have 'no added sugars', may sometmes contain other forms of sugar. The closer to the top of the ingredient list, the more of it is present in the food or drink.

14.01.2022 If you wouldn’t add 16 teaspoons of sugar into your food, then why drink it? Yes, 16 teaspoons of sugar. That’s exactly how much sugar there is in a regular bottle of soft drink! Do you know?... -Clinical research shows that just by drinking one can of sugary drink increases your risk of developing Type II Diabetes by 22% when compared to drinking one can a month or less. -Young children and teenagers are especially prone to consume large amounts of sweetened foods and beverages. -Regardless of the amount of sugar present, soft drinks and carbonated beverages are acidic. Frequent drinking can lead to surface erosion and increased risk of tooth decay.

01.01.2022 How much sugar is hiding in your trolley? Have you checked that the healthy snacks you’ve got are exactly what they’ve claimed? Have you noticed any hidden sugar on the labels of the packaging? In this year’s Dental Health Week, we’re going to investigate these hidden sugars within the common foods, what we can do to improve our health and choosing the right diet. The average Australian consumes 14 teaspoons of sugar daily. This is more than twice the recommendation by th...e World Health Organization of the 6 teaspoons a day . High sugar and salt contents in our diet have a profound impact on one's general and dental health.
