24.01.2022 Getting set up for online author visits and making a wish for all to #staysafe

23.01.2022 I can’t be at the Margaret River Readers and Writers Festival (because of you know what) but two lucky Margaret River moonwalkers can win books. #Repost @mrrwfestival IT'S COMPETITION TIME FOR KIDS Two lucky kids have the chance to WIN a copy of the book Moonwalkers by Mark Greenwood and Terry Denton! To enter, kids can:... 1) Draw a picture of themselves as a Moonwalker and label the things they would take to space with them OR 2) Create their own collage (out of paper or found objects) of a spacecraft they would like to visit the moon in. Email a picture of your child's entry to [email protected] with your child's first name and age. Entries close 24 April at 5pm and winners announced online and contacted by PM to arrange contact free drop-off of the book in the Margaret River area. Book suitable for years K-3. Get creative and get those entries rolling in! Please keep the original as we would love to display them in a collection called 'Stories from Home' as part of a community exhibition when we're able. #isolationcreation #kidscompetition #margaretriver #moonwalkers #kidsbooks #readingisfun #winbooks #mrrwf2020 See more

18.01.2022 Inviting y’all into my writing studio tomorrow for stones and lots of stories. 10.30am WA time on @paperbird_books live insta feed

17.01.2022 Yesterday, Frané Lessac - Books and Art and I had the honour of pre-recording an ANZAC special for Victorian schools, organised by the Young Australians Best Book Awards (YABBA) as well filming a resource for the State Library of WA special collections department, detailing our collaboration to create Simpson and his Donkey. Anzac Day is approaching and there are so many award-winning Australian children’s books with inspiring stories of courage and loyalty that teachers and librarians can use as resources to explain the core ideals that unite us. In the safety of a good book, young readers can imagine the past and develop an understanding of events, struggles and perspectives. Lest We Forget. Walker Books Australia

16.01.2022 Check out Jandamarra @storyboxlibrary He emerged from the cave of bats with the name given to him by his people. He was Jandamarra - a man of power who could appear and disappear like a ghost. The epic and tragic story of Jandamarra, Indigenous hero of the Kimberley. A story for all Australians, providing a unique insight into an extraordinary man and a powerful slice of history. Set in the Kimberley region in north-west Australia, this is the story of a young warrior b...orn to lead. To the settlers, he was an outlaw to be hunted. To the Bunuba, he was a courageous defender of his country. Mark Greenwood's text and Terry Denton's watercolour illustrations bring to life this story of conflict and divided loyalties - giving a unique insight into an extraordinary man and a tragic but important part of Australia's frontier history. Read by Trevor Jamieson. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body. @markgreenwoodauthor @terrydbooks @allenandunwin @jamiesontrevor See more

13.01.2022 I’m super excited to be the first presenter back in the fully restored @theliteraturecentre for the Term 2 Young Writers Collective. I’ve been involved in this exceptional program for a number of years and always look forward these days of excellence, sharing tips and secrets to imaginative storytelling and helping young writers to hone their creative skills, develop original ideas and gain confidence to put it in writing. Award-winning author Mark Greenwood is well known f...or his diverse range of picture books and novels. He's also a history hunter, immersing himself in settings and travelling to the places where historical events occurred. We know that Mark will inspire students with his stories of travel and writing, and offer unique insight on how he creates award-winning stories! Mark Greenwood presents 3 full-day workshops for our Year 6 Young Writers Collective next week in Fremantle - 21-23 April. We’ve still got a few spots left! $30 per student. 11.01.2022 It was a lovely surprise to find out 'The Happiness Box' has been shortlisted for a couple of international book awards. The Red Dot Book Awards are an initiative of the International School Libraries Network (ISLN) in Singapore. The Dulwich Information Book Award (DIBAS) was initiated by the Librarians of Dulwich Colleges to highlight good quality non-fiction books and to encourage a wider reading of non-fiction throughout International Colleges in Singapore, China and Korea. 10.01.2022 With Anzac Day approaching, Story Box Library have made the Happiness Box available. A book about a children's book created in the isolation of a POW camp is so relevant - with kindness, generosity and compassion at its core.

01.01.2022 Anzac Day is a day of reflection and commemoration. Children need books to understand and question history. I’m honored to have co-created three of these titles. Repost @walkerbooksaus Ahead of Anzac Day, here are our picks for picture books that help readers reflect on war, in gentle and informative ways.
