01.01.2022 LABYRINTHS IN THE LOUNGE I’m thrilled today to announce the launch of a new initiative to put finger labyrinths in places where they may be appreciated by many ...people. Labyrinths in the Lounge is a campaign to place finger labyrinths in waiting spaces. As we know, walking a finger labyrinth is well known as a calming and settling practice, and a person’s first contact with one can be an important way to seed interest in the labyrinth in general, not to mention spreading its powerful energy wherever it is placed. The aim of the project is to offer initially 12 finger labyrinths for waiting rooms, hospital chapels, and other places where they may be found and used by many people who have time to spare, and who may be feeling anxious, grieving, or under stress in hospital waiting rooms and chapels, doctor's waiting rooms, blind people's homes and more. My initial targets are UK-based Macmillan Cancer Centres, hospital waiting rooms, and one or more homes for the blind. Of course, if funds allow, we can place more in time and let the campaign run well into the future. The spiral-style, non-denominational labyrinths will be produced by Rowan, a Cambridge-based charity involving people with learning difficulties in creative activities (http://www.rowanhumberstone.co.uk/artwork/finger-labyrinths/ Kay Barrett is closely involved with this wonderful charity). A simple text will be attached to each to introduce the labyrinth and suggest how to 'walk' it, potentially also in braille. Please click here if you’d like to donate to the campaign: gf.me/u/vt4rc6. Every little really can go a long way with this every penny goes toward the costs of making the labyrinths, and potentially many thousands of people may have their first contact with a labyrinth by encountering one that we place in the lounge.
