25.01.2022 Congratulations and thankyou to the vast majority of West Ward residents and ratepayers who have already cast their votes. If you haven't yet voted; today - FRIDAY - is the LAST DAY to VOTE. Please - DONT FORGET TO VOTE TODAY .

21.01.2022 Had to share this post from fellow candidate Lenka Thompson - West Ward Candidate, Macedon Ranges. It was a great evening of live music last night - performed over ZOOM by local group, The Cartwheels, and organised by Kyneton Community House and Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House. Congratulations and well done to all involved. It was also terrific to see fellow candidates for the council elections from across the shire attend. This was a very fitting way to wind out the election period. Congratulations and thankyou to the vast majority of West Ward residents and ratepayers who have already cast their votes. If you haven't yet voted; today - FRIDAY - is the LAST DAY to VOTE. Please - DONT FORGET TO VOTE TODAY .

18.01.2022 This is wonderful news ...

17.01.2022 Hi everyone - Here is the outcome of the first count for West Ward. About 80% of first preferences counted. Have to wait till at least next week for the remaining votes and preference distribution. At least five of us are well and truly still in the hunt for the three positions - and this will most likely be decided by the preferences. Good luck to my fellow candidates and thankyou to my scrutineers and everyone involved.

17.01.2022 On Friday afternoon, the new exercise equipment in St Agnes Place in Kyneton was formally opened by our local state member of parliament - Mary-Anne Thomas, Mayor - Jennifer Anderson, President of the Campaspe River Comittee - Brendan Smith, and myself - wearing my president of Kyneton Rotary hat. Exercise equipment has been installed in several key locations right around the shire as part of this program. The Kyneton equipment was partially funded by the Campapse River Committee and the Kyneton Rotary Club as well through State Government grants and the Macedon Ranges Council. A number of free introductory programs have been established to help people get started on the equipment and it has been great to see the number of regular users the equipment already has. Congratulations to all involved.

17.01.2022 MAYOR AND DEPUTY Councillor Jennifer Anderson has tonight been appointed mayor of Macedon Ranges for the next 12 months and Cr Mark Ridgeway appointed deputy mayor for the same period. Congratulations to them both.

16.01.2022 Also opened on Friday afternoon were the new light towers for Barkly Square in Kyneton. These towers will be a great benefit to the Kyneton Soccer Club which has been looking forward to having proper lighting for nightime training and games for many years. I well remember my days as a coach at the club (many years ago!), training on half a pitch in the dim light of what was basically a home made lighting set up. The lights were made possible through significant funds raised locally by the club along with grants from state government and assistance by the Macedon Ranges Shire Council. The lights were formally opened by local state member - Mary-Anne Thomas, Mayor - Jennifer Anderson and Kyneton Soccer Club President - Ron Cole.

13.01.2022 The Macedon Ranges Resident's Association (MRRA) have released their candidates assessments for the upcoming council elections. If you are interested in a comprehensive assessment of most candidates (not all particpated) and an overview of their responses to the questions posed, please visit the following link. I am happy to say that the MRRA have included me in their list of candidates that they would vote for and assessed me as: 'this long-time Kyneton local presents well as a candidate who brings a professional attitude with community connections and involvement'. Congratulations and many thanks to Christine and the MRRA for putting in their time and effort to develop these assessments. In my case the interview lasted for over an hour and was very thorough.

11.01.2022 Council recently approved our new Community Engagement Policy. Many thanks go to residents and ratepayers who contributed to the development of the policy. A key aspect of the new policy is the inclusion of a deliberative engagement process, which will be used to help ensure community participation in the development of our upcoming council plan and as part of our budget process over the next few months. I encourage everyone to give some thought to being involved in the proce...ss. After some teething issues, the link is now available from the shire website: https://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au/Home - simply select the 'Find out More' link from the green section at the top of the page labelled 'Help Shape the Future of the Macedon Ranges' to register your interest. A group of around 25 people will be randomly selected from the regsistrations to form the community vision assembly. See more

09.01.2022 Hello everyone. By the end of today (Thursday) the VEC will have posted out all of the ballots for the upcoming council elections. You should expect to receive the ballot by the end of this week or early next week. If you don’t receive a ballot by Friday 16th, contact 1300 116 415 for a replacement. Your completed vote needs to be mailed back by the following Friday (23rd) or hand delivered to the electoral office at the Mechanics Institute in Kyneton. Make sure you number al...l the boxes on the ballot from 1 to 8. If you are supporting me, then please mark me as number 1. I am not issuing a preference list, so please carefully consider the order that you give the other candidates. Remember that three councillors will be chosen from your votes. Good luck to all my fellow candidates and congratulations on nominating. It is important that people have a good range of nominees, representing a broad range of ideas and priorities, to choose from. I believe that we have given people that choice.

06.01.2022 Janet Pearce, Jennifer Anderson and myself met with local residents in the Green Hill area yesterday to discuss waste discharge into the Campaspe River and associated creeks and streams. We are looking forward to working together on local issues as your West Ward team. Our first formal Council meeting is not until the 25th November, but we will be sworn in this coming Monday (16th) and have two days of training on the 19th and 20th November.

06.01.2022 It was a great day for the Kyneton Farmer's Market on Saturday. It was lovely to catch up with former mayor, current councillor and fellow candidate, Jennifer Anderson for West Ward.

05.01.2022 The beginning of 2021 is proving to be a very busy time for the Macedon Ranges Shire Council with a number of major proposals, policy decisions and a range of c...ouncil business to consider. Many of these important items have direct impact for the towns and communities in the West Ward. In particular, I encourage residents of and visitors to Kyneton to take part in updating our Kyneton Urban Design framework. The framework looks at the future development of the Kyneton town centre, in particular High, Mollison and Piper streets. The framework can be accessed at https://www.mrsc.vic.gov.au//Kyneton-Urban-Design-Framework and contributors have until Feb 26 to respond. The following masterplans are (or soon will be ) available from the shire website for community feedback. Watch out for these it is very important for us to receive your feedback: 1. Woodend Community Centre. 2. Malmsbury Botanic Gardens. I also remind everyone that there are some key development proposals (particularly in Kyneton) open for feedback at the moment proposals along Edgecombe Rd and Harpers Lane spring immediately to mind and I urge all interested parties, whether in favour or in opposition to the proposals, to submit your thoughts, ideas and position to the shire and to your councillors.

05.01.2022 Important news - Council passed a motion to declare a Climate Emergency for the Macedon Ranges Shire at our meeting last Wednesday (24th March) night. This enab...les council to put all of our climate change mitigation projects, programs and strategies under the one policy umbrella. Council will also include climate change mitigation in our upcoming and future budget processes. Council has a clear role to play in addressing climate change - both through our own operational practices in reducing emmissions as well as an advocacy and educational role across our commmunity with both residents and business. Macedon Ranges Shire has already put in place a number of successful programs and strategies to reduce our emissions over the last few years. Wednesday night's motion helps move this forward.

04.01.2022 Beautiful ... Gorgeous photo of the Campaspe River in Kyneton published by the ABC

02.01.2022 The final results are in for the Macedon Ranges Shire election. Thankyou to all my fellow candidates who stood for the West Ward. Congratulations to Janet Pearce and Jennifer Anderson on being re-elected to council and I am very pleased and rather humbled to announce that I have also been elected. I am looking forward to my term as a councillor and hope that over the next four years I can represent our community well.

01.01.2022 Macedon Ranges Shire Council had its mayoral election this evening. We started with a Welcome to Country smoking ceremony by Wurundjeri elder, Uncle Bill Nichol...son and followed with the vote for Mayor and the Deputy. Congratulations to Cr Jennifer Anderson on being elected to Mayor. I was then honoured to be elected to the Deputy Mayor position. See more
