25.01.2022 A huge congratulations to the Deloraine Kangaroos Football Club for their great win over Rocherlea in the NTFA Grand Final over the weekend. It was a wonderful match to watch and it was great to see so much support from the locals at the ground. This year has been tough with COVID restrictions in place, but I congratulate all clubs for coming through these unprecedented times with smiles on their faces.... Hoping for a great season in 2021. I look forward to it!

23.01.2022 It was a pleasure to receive an invitation to visit Manager Ian Herbert, Senior Technical Officer Brett Davey and their team at Southern Farming Systems Tasmania at "Glenroy", a cropping test property in Cressy recently. It was fabulous to visit the site and see the cropping research that the team are doing to better educate and assist agricultural services within Tasmania.

18.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government has placed a strong focus on supporting and creating jobs as we recover from the impacts of COVID-19, with connecting people to jobs and reskilling a key component of our recovery plan. Our plan to increase Tasmania’s skilled workforce is working, with apprentice and Trainee figures in July 2020 recording 366 brand new apprentice and trainee commencements. Through our $6.3 million Rapid Response Skills Initiative, eligible job seekers are able to imme...diately access up to $3000 towards the cost of training and up to $500 for employment advice. ‘Skill Up’ is providing a range of low or no cost online short courses through TasTAFE to help boost people’s skills to enhance their employability.

18.01.2022 Sunday sports are a great chance to keep fit, get the kids active and get out of the house. Keep up the great work to keep Tasmanians safe and enjoying the things we love.

18.01.2022 Let's keep up the great work Tasmania.

17.01.2022 What a great effort from these young lads from the Longford Junior Football Club under 14 team, who raised $6500 in support of one of their team mates and his family. Will, Josh, Mitch and Koby decided to shave their heads in support of their team mate Tommy. Their goal was $2500. With the support of the community, family, friends and local businesses, they blew their total out of the water!... How amazing are these boys - well done to everyone who supported and donated. It's fabulous how communities rally together in times of need to help out their mates.

16.01.2022 Biosecurity staff at our airports and seaports have played a critical role in the Tasmanian Government’s COVID-19 response, including the screening of all passenger arrivals in Tasmania to uphold travel restrictions and quarantine requirements. We are taking action to ensure this continues and the Budget locks in $6 million for the delivery of traveller assessment and border control across the State can continue, along with the continued operation of the G2G PASS app and Tas ...e-Travel systems. With our borders now reopened to safe States and Victoria likely to follow soon, this will be more important than ever, and this funding will ensure our borders remain strong and flexible to continue protecting Tasmanians from the threat of COVID-19. 11.01.2022 R U OK? Today is National R U OK day. 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. ... It’s not always easy to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK, but it could change a life. For more information visit www.https://www.ruok.org.au

10.01.2022 The Tasmanian Government remains committed to reducing the cost of living for all Tasmanians. As part of that commitment, we have been closely examining other jurisdiction’s fuel price reporting schemes and developing measures to prevent Tasmanians from paying too much for fuel, resulting in our decision to introduce a mandatory real-time fuel price reporting scheme, announced in May. Today, Elise Archer MP announced that the Scheme is now fully operational through a free app... and website. As part of the scheme, fuel retailers will now be required to update fuel prices in real time, providing a vastly enhanced level of transparency for consumers. This type of scheme has proved a big success in other states, particularly New South Wales. To provide access to real-time prices, a website (www.fuelcheck.tas.gov.au) and free app (FuelCheck TAS) have been developed to help motorists easily search for fuel by locations, price and fuel type or brand. More than 230 fuel retailers have now registered for the scheme and have already begun reporting fuel prices. Obviously, registrations and testing of the app needed to occur prior to the Scheme going live to the public.

10.01.2022 This week is Road Safety Week, and a timely and important reminder to drive so others survive. The Tasmanian Government and Road Safety Advisory Council are continuing to work to make our roads safer, in line with our Towards Zero Action Plan 2020-2024. As part of Road Safety Week, a number of buildings and bridges will be lit in yellow from today, May 16, until next Sunday, May 23.... I encourage all Tasmanian drivers to take the pledge to drive so others survive, by visiting www.roadsafetyweek.com.au, or show their support by wearing a yellow ribbon, which are available at Service Tasmania outlets statewide.

08.01.2022 Declaration of the polls for Lyons, Clark and Franklin was held this morning in the South and I was pleased to be attending with my Liberal colleagues John Tucker MP, Elise Archer MP, Jacquie Petrusma MP and Madeleine Ogilvie MP. Congratulations to all my colleagues on their election/re-election in a Gutwein Majority Liberal Government and I look forward to the next 4 years of serving the Tasmanian people. To everyone who voted for my return and for the party, for another 4 year term, a huge thank you.

08.01.2022 A pleasure to open the season as Patron of Sorell Bowls Club Inc and I enjoyed a tasty BBQ afterwards!

07.01.2022 This is great news for Tasmania

06.01.2022 A huge congratulations to all Tasmanians who were nominated and received awards from Volunteering Tasmania in the recent Tasmanian Volunteering Awards. Special mention to Lyons constituents Bob Thomas from Tasmanian Men's Shed Association for his recognition in the category of "Community Care and Health" and to Wayne Doran from Volunteer Ambulance Officers Association of Tasmania (VAOAT) for recognition in the category of "Emergency Services". Volunteers are often the life blood of local and regional communities and we thank them for their service.

06.01.2022 Great news in today's media announcement

05.01.2022 Today, September 29, is National Police Remembrance Day. Nationwide, we remember fallen police officers and offer our thanks for their service. Please take a minute or two today to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.... #neverforgotten

05.01.2022 Tasmanians showed their overwhelming support for our 'Make Yourself at Home' travel vouchers when they first launched, and now more Tasmanians have an opportuni...ty register for one when the second round opens on Wednesday 30 September. Today we have committed another $5 million to the initiative, bringing our total investment in encouraging Tasmanians to explore their own state to $12.5 million. See more

03.01.2022 The 2020-21 State Budget locks in over $80 million in funding across the Forward Estimates on projects across Tasmania to ensure our natural assets are protected for generations to come while providing world-class experiences for visitors and locals alike. We are taking action to address wastewater and critical infrastructure issues at Freycinet National Park, with $8.4 million to fund the Sewerage Treatment Plant upgrade and a pipeline from the Wineglass Bay Trailhead to the... treatment plant. We are also protecting our natural areas from the threat of uncontrolled bushfires, with $2.1 million over four years to establish a ‘winch capable’ PWS fire crew ready to be deployed by helicopter to combat fires in remote areas before they become a threat to vulnerable natural areas, communities and infrastructure. For more information please visit http://www.premier.tas.gov.au/budget_2020/budget_releases

02.01.2022 Suggestions were made today of 'rumours' being circulated that some rural fire brigades will be forced to close. There will be no forced closures of rural fire brigades in Tasmania now or into the future. Our rural fire brigades play a critical role in our overall response to responding to bushfire risk and volunteerism in our fire brigades and the SES is strong. ... It's disappointing to see Labor continuing to misrepresent this fact.
