12.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK; How often to mow your lawn..? As a guide, you should mow once a week or at the very least, once a fortnight during Summer, and around once every three or four weeks in Winter. At other times, you'll probably vary between these extremes depending on how fast your own individual lawn is growing. Other seasons Infrequent mowing can cause a lawn to become "stalky" and less attractive. This is especially the case with popular grasses such as Couch and Kikuyu. So it is advisable to mow regularly, with sharp blades, to keep your lawn looking its best.

04.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK; Damp grass; You really shouldnt cut damp grass, but sometimes there is no alternative. So if you have to do it, then make sure that you slow down. This will result in less clogging of the blades and will result in a faster mow.

03.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK To Avoid Lawn Damage; Infrequent lawn mowing often leads to damage being caused to lawns, which can happen for several reasons. When too much leaf material has been removed in a single mowing, the lawn can go into shock, and give a damaged or scalped finish to the lawn which could take a long time to recover from.... Removing all the green leaf, leaving the thatch layer and crowns exposed to direct sunlight or heat, which can dry out and burn easily, oftentimes damaging the lawn in the affected area. Damaging or removing the lawn crowns, which raise up higher when lawn is left to grow higher, so that when the lawn is cut back to a low height, the raised crowns are damaged or removed, sometimes killing the lawn in the affected area. 03.01.2022 TIP OF THE WEEK; Keep your lawn mower blades sharp to keep your lawn looking nice. Make sure your mower blades are sharp in order to cut cleanly. Dull blades can shred grass and cause discoloration at the tips because frayed grass blades lose moisture easily. Sharpen/replace the blades of rotary mowers several times each growing season. Reel type mowers usually only require sharpening once a year, but adjust them to ensure they cut cleanly. Some grass species have tough blades, which causes blades to wear quickly.
