25.01.2022 People I am getting excited about opening the Gym on 20th July starting time at 5.00 pm to 6.30pm with knowing what I know now you need to call myself on 045759...5294 to make a spot as we still need to abide by social Distancing rules. The gym can take up to 20 athletes at a time. You need to bring your own gloves, towel, water bottle, wraps cause we want to reduce as much as possible any Risk of infection. 21.01.2022 People Cairns n surrounding districts please give me a call if you are in need of relief from pain I have 40 years of experience in sport massage I have found a... lot of problems stem from the feet. I have the skills and resources to rectify the source of the problem n reduce the pain. I am based at Machans Beach call me for a pain relief session n I will find out if your feet are aligned with your body. Remember your feet do a lot of work for you it is like a motor car if the wheel goes out of alignment out of so many turns, like your feet you do most probably ten thousand steps a day and they will go out of alignment so many times then back to have a Massage, Chiropractic session but !!!! 18.01.2022 Justin Cowboy Rowsell may have hung up his professional gloves well over a decade ago, but he has continued in boxing by mentoring a squad of fighters at Sydney University. In his heyday, he travelled the world and won several championships as an amateur and a professional, but he says the most precious thing left from boxing is the human relationships he formed during his career, and some of his former opponents count among his best friends today. Justin Rowsell was in to...wn last week for the opening of Marlin Coast Boxing Club’s new gym in Machans Beach and to meet his cousin Tim Rowsell, Head Coach at Marlin Coast. The two coaches caught up over family and boxing in addition to officiating at the opening ceremony where Justin Rowsell delivered a speech as a guest of honour and Tim Rowsell unveiled the club’s commemoration plaque with MP Craig Crawford. Justin Rowsell also observed Zap De Jong’s fighters at practise and stepped in to offer valuable insights on technique to the young boxers. His advice to anyone who wants to succeed in boxing is simple: Train hard, eat right, stay out of trouble, and listen to your coach. And he reckons that sheer hard work can sometimes take you further than just pure talent without hard work. 13.01.2022 Marlin Coast Boxing Club’s Spit, Sparring and Sportmanship event on Saturday, 9th November, drew a crowd of community members, sponsors and boxers to sample the boxing action and the food at Lot 2 Marshall St, Machans Beach. Both were dished up in smoking servings as fighters from Do It Boxing and the Wanderers faced off against Marlin Coasters and each other to deliver over an hour’s worth of spirited sparring before breaking to enjoy the pig on the spit which was donated... by sponsor Vincent Bianchi From Multy Cut Meats, Yorkey’s Knob, and cooked to a sensational turn by grill maestro Ryder Bryant, proprietor of Bryant's Family Butchery, Woree. Marlin Coast Boxing’s head trainer Tim Rowsell officiated in the ring while club founder and boxing personality Kevin Mayo kept a keen eye on the fighting action as he mingled with guests and friends. Freshly crowned National Champion Leah Reuben of Do It Boxing joined in the sparring ahead of flying out to the Philippines for a 2-week international training camp that will conclude with a tournament where she will be pitted against world-class boxers. Marlin Cost Boxing Club wishes Leah all the best in her rising career. A sincere thanks all round to Zap de Jong and Do It Boxing and Jayd Jones-Bunce and the Wanderers for providing fine competition and grassroots club networking in this community event. 09.01.2022 Marlin Coast Boxing Club achieved a key milestone on Saturday, July 27, with the official opening of the Machans Beach gym. The event was attended by a crowd of sponsors, friends, supporters and locals, and guests of honour from the boxing world included former national and international champion boxers Justin Rowsell and Arama Tabuai. The crew from Do It Boxing - Zap De Jong’s boxing club in Edmonton - entertained the crowd with fast and furious bouts of exhibition sparring..., and Craig Crawford MP, Minister for Fire and Emergency Services and Cairns Division 8 Councillor Jessie Richardson represented state and local governments in the official segment of the day. Club Chaplain Lindsay Jones opened the proceedings with a prayer, and Minister Crawford and Marlin Coast Head Coach Tim Rowsell concluded by unveiling the official commemoration plaque. Among the day’s official speakers were local business figure Martin Anton, Club Secretary Morag Gane, Board President Stephen McCulloch, and Craig Crawford MP. In an emotional address, Marlin Coast Boxing Club founder and recently retired head coach Kevin Mayo thanked everyone for their efforts and support and praised the teamwork that has brought the club this far. With the club’s official launch and Coach Rowsell’s recent certification with Boxing Australia, the Marlin Coast Boxing Club is poised to grow and step up to meet new challenges as the team continue to work toward achieving the vision of a boxing-based, multi-purpose community health and fitness centre of the people, by the people and for the people. 07.01.2022 A crowd of 30 stalwarts braved the wet weather for the drawing of Marlin Coast Boxing Club’s Bonanza Raffle on Saturday, December 15. Owen’s approach played havoc with the planned festivities and several attractions had to be cancelled at short notice. Marlin Coast Boxing would like to thank all staff, sponsors, friends and members of the public who came along to support the event and help out in so many ways. In particular, a big Thank you! once again to all the local businesses who generously donated so many fantastic prizes. Here’s hoping for better weather for next year!
