21.01.2022 The town of Palmanova, Italy is recognized by its concentric layout known as a star fort and as seen in the attached aerial photograph. The rationale for this layout was that an attack on any individual wall could be defended from the two adjacent star points by shooting the enemy from behind. The three rings that surround Palmanova were completed in 1593, 1690, and 1813. I like the fact that a long-term approach was taken to managing this risk, something we can remind ourselves of today.... risk management can be staged, it doesn't have to be done overnight.

A Darwin crane hire and rigging company director has been caught on camera twice in two days climbing on a tower crane without the appropriate fall protection measures in place. He was subsequently convicted and fined $11,800 in the Darwin Local Court after pleading guilty to two breaches of Section 32 of the Work Health and Safety (National Uniform... Legislation) Act for failing to comply with a health and safety duty. On 2 February 2016, the director of Top Development (NT) Pty Ltd, trading as High Rise Crane & Rigging Services, was photographed by nearby office workers climbing outside the tower crane without a safety harness at a worksite in Darwin’s CBD. Despite WorkSafe Inspectors attending the worksite and receiving assurances the activity would not occur again, he was filmed the following day walking along the boom of the crane without the appropriate safety measures in place. On both occasions, the director was working at a height of approximately 18 to 21 meters without appropriate fall protection, said NT WorkSafe Executive Director Stephen Gelding, who expressed disappointment at the company director’s actions and blasé attitude towards safety.
