22.01.2022 Yesterday was international day of Portuguese as a heritage language The Language of Inheritance concept is the result of the close relationship between language, identity and culture, since the inheritance that is being passed on from one generation to the next does not correspond only to linguistic skills, but also to the culture, customs of the parent's country of origin and family values

22.01.2022 The biggest challenge of growing up outside your country of origin, is to know how to represent your country of origin .... And that is exactly why I want to educate my son Luca, to be Franco-Brazilian-Australian. He does not need to choose a culture, a heritage ... he is the junction and adoption of these 3 countries that are his origin Here is Matthieu and his father, Matthieu must have been a little less than a year old
21.01.2022 Australia has one of the best healthcare systems in the world. It is widely accessible to all people living in Australia. All permanent Australian residents pay a Medicare levy (an additional tax) to fund the public healthcare system, which is like a medical insurance. This entitles them to free or subsidised services by medical practitioners and public hospital care. There is also an extensive private health system. Those wishing to pay an additional fee to join a health insurance fund can receive extra benefits for optical, physiotherapy, dental treatment and other medical services.
21.01.2022 Happy Mother’s Day, to all of us, Including me and my mamãe
20.01.2022 Father's Day is the first Sunday in September in Australia, but that's not true elsewhere in the world. Why is Father's Day on different days in different countries? Australia is one of four countries where Father's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday in September (6 September 2020 this year). The others are New Zealand, Fiji and Papua New Guinea. The most common choice worldwide is the third Sunday in June, a tradition deriving from the US and now followed in more than 70 ...countries. So why do Pacific countries choose a different date? The broad tradition appears to date back to the mid-1930s, as a newspaper report from Newcastle in 1936 treats it as an entirely new event: A new day for the Calendar is 'Fathers' Day,' September 6. Mothers' Day has become very popular, and maybe 'Fathers' Day' will. The likely explanation? Having encountered news reports about Father's Day from the US, Australians decided to adopt it. However, rather than waiting a year to celebrate, it was placed later in the calendar, and in a similar season.
19.01.2022 Recently more and more parents goes rollerblading with their baby in a stroller. In Australia, this is great - the walkways are safe and flat - I LOVE IT ! Whether you’re a beginner or advanced rider there are few things that you need to keep in mind if you want to use a baby stroller for rollerblading. It may be a fun activity not only for parents but also for the baby. And it may help you to lose weight after pregnancy. But safety first!... There is one basic rule that you should remember: the best stroller for rollerblading is a jogging stroller. I know that some parents use standard or even lightweight strollers for it and say that jogger is a waste of money. But in my opinion it’s not safe to use standard or lightweight stroller for rollerblading and I don’t recommend it. These types of strollers don’t have necessary features to keep you and your baby safe during the ride
18.01.2022 Pregnancy is a wonderful, beautiful time in our life and of course the biggest blessing is having a child of our own. There’s nothing that can compare to the sweet baby that’s yours to raise and share a life with I feel blessed that I was able to conceive. And also blessed to have given birth here in Australia! I cannot think of any other country being so open and so easy going about breastfeeding in public ... The Australian culture and their easy way of living life, definitely made me the mother I am today - easy going ;) So thank you Australia matey Breastfeeding hurts the sh#t out of you to start with and it did take me a little while to adapt and connect with Luca on that matter. But once we finally understood each other, we were like rock and rollers breastfeeding everywhere
17.01.2022 Many people wonder what exactly is traditional Australian food? And it’s a good question. Australian cuisine has developed from a mix of many different cultures over the course of several centuries. As a result, many unique Australian dishes simply can’t be found anywhere else. I’ve also found there are many international dishes Australians have adopted and made their own.... Locals are crazy for avocados in fact, their popularity in the country has caused an avocado shortage, and prices have soared! In Australia, avocados aren’t reserved for Mexican dishes you can find avocados all over every Australian menu, specially for breakfast! Avo toast was a popular Australian breakfast dish long before it became a hipster food for the rest of the world.
17.01.2022 The Frenchie and the Brazilian. I am not gonna lie; there’s several moments on our relationship where the culture clash is just massive!!! Nearly 10 years together, many ups and downs - one thing we learned for sure: we're definitely best together !
This time of year, we miss our home country more than usual. Being expat is not always easy - it warms our hearts that every year we welcome expat families to celebrate christmas together.
17.01.2022 Relocation advice Australia The starting point is securing the right visa. Decide what you plan to do (short term working holiday or long term employment and residency) and research your visa options.... Permanent visas and some temporary visas require you to read or be familiar with the government-provided book Life in Australia before you sign the Australian Values Statement. By signing this statement you are saying that you will respect and abide by the customs and laws of Australia. All visa applicants must sign this statement if they are 18 years old or over. If you refuse to sign the Values Statement, your visa application may be delayed or even declined. Ensure you have travel and health insurance suitable for your time in Australia; it’s advisable to register with Medicare (the local health service). Once in Australia, apply for an Australian Tax File Number (TFN) as soon as you can; you require this in order to receive any form of income.
16.01.2022 Choosing a mobile phone in Australia: As in most countries, the range of mobile phone models and plans in Australia is huge, and it can be difficult to know where to start looking. The first thing to remember is to stay realistic about how much you can afford to pay. Many ‘hand sets’ (the phone itself) are free on contract plans. However, newer and more expensive phones attract a monthly fee on top of call charges. Do some research to work out whether you really need features on your phone such as email and internet connectivity. Don’t rely on sales people for all your information. If you only use your mobile phone for calls, you can save a lot of money by choosing a basic model.
15.01.2022 Australian kids love fairy bread or plain white bread covered in butter and topped with what locals call hundreds and thousands (sprinkles to the rest of us). This simple sweet dish can often be found at children’s parties, but high-end versions aimed at adults have begun popping up as well!

15.01.2022 Of course, no conversation about Australian cuisine is complete without mentioning Vegemite. The stuff is an inseparable part of the country’s culture and one of Australia’s most iconic foods. For those who haven’t yet tried it, Vegemite is a savory paste made of many different vegetables and spices. It’s usually eaten with sandwiches. Tourists sometimes find it to be an acquired taste, but nonetheless it’s a must try when visiting Australia. Listen to the locals when they tell you a little goes a long way!
14.01.2022 Australian local dress styles are different from Australia’s fashions. Dress has been influenced by the experience of living in rugged country as well as modern leisure activities such as swimming, surfing and beach culture. This is reflected in different fabrics, such as moleskin and drill cotton, developed for more practical wear. Today, even lifesavers wear long-sleeved tops or wetsuits and sun hats, as do children, as protection from the sun. In response to the beach expe...rience, surf board shorts, singlets, colourful shirts and thongs have been adopted as part of a national dress code by both males and females. Females have also adopted the loose-flowing sarong from Indonesia, the sulu from the Fiji Islands and Punjabi shirts from India as a preferred choice of cut and garment style as beachwear, providing both sun protection and also as transition garments from the beaches to town. 11.01.2022 Australia is a diverse, multicultural society comprised of people from many backgrounds. With a population of more than 21 million, an estimated 22% of our population are born overseas. Migrants have made and will continue to make a significant contribution to the Australian way of life. These influences are evident in the food we eat, languages we speak and faiths we practise. Today, Australia is considered to have one of the most resilient, high growth economies in the world. Consequently, the standard of living in Australia is considered to be high in comparison to many other countries. Australians have a love affair with the arts, sports and the outdoors. With a temperate climate, beautiful landscape and political and economic stability, Australians really have a quality of life to be envied.
10.01.2022 WHY DO WE LOVE PICNIC SO MUCH ? Simply because picnicking in Australia is the BEST ! Picnics get us out in the fresh air, break our routine, bring us back to basics. It’s camping, for those of us who like eating way more than we like camping.... Why is picnicking so therapeutic? It’s because it encourages you to let go. It takes away the restrictions of a table, of sitting up straight, using cutlery, making conversation, of worrying about crumbs and stains and spills. Picnicking means drifting off to birdsong and to the cry of children on the swings or in the surf. In its own way, it is practising mindfulness, being in the moment while letting your mind drift like a cloud.
10.01.2022 it's the hottest thing in milk since the nipple: Let me introduce you to the babycino Like most things, the babycino’s origin is a source of debate between Australians and New Zealanders. As is the way in this part of the world, anything good is claimed by Australia first and then counterclaimed by New Zealand as actually originating there. ... Similar conflicts have occurred over the origin of the Pavlova, Russell Crowe, and the music of Crowded House. The flat white is claimed by both countries; the music of Russell Crowe is claimed by neither

Parenthood taught me to celebrate every victory, however small it may seem. The first sound, the first smile, the first word spoken, the first steps. Witnessing moments like these reminds me that not everything in life is sales volume, contract, goal or audience. Real life is simple and beautiful and being a father made me rescue this concept, perhaps lost in time, in my time, but which I now apply in my organizational routine.
