24.01.2022 This is a shout out to my mum friends. You know who you are. (certainly not all pictured) Being a first-time mum is not easy for most. The whirls of emotions that came with motherhood certainly felt like a tornado tearing through my life. Pregnancy started the process of toughening my skin, though I don't think anything could have truly prepared me for what I was about to embark on. But other mums... they understand. At our baby shower, we had a fairly open invitation and ...there were mum friends coming out from every corner of my life, putting up their hand and saying... 'we are here if you need anything'. At the time I was flattered but didn't truly understand how much I was going to need this support. This support has got me through so many hard days. Texts in the middle of the night just to know that your not the only person awake, group facetime through the Covid isolations, I remember walking to mums group in tears after a sleepless night and on my way back my mood had completely flipped. I was originally afraid of a competitive spirit though that has not been my experience at all in these circles. They have been nothing but open, honest, a voice of reason, space to air my feeling, space to cry, laugh, be understood and supported. 07.01.2022 I have been mentally planning this shoot since Alma was a few weeks old and I'm happy with how it has come out, it looks better than it did in my head. It took a full week of all nap times to create and its something that I get a lot of joy out of. Drawing, cutting, printing, pasting, taping, hanging, styling, lighting - I find it all quite satisfying. Then I get to edit photos of this guy looking super cute, my heart melts a little bit more every time I see his smile. It's... our family tradition that when a new member reaches sitting age, they get a picture framed at 8 x 10 and hung on Gigi and Grandpar's loungeroom wall. And well.. Alma's is overdue I am told. My generation sat on sheepskin rugs with a strong backlight haloing the baby, this youngest generation is a little more complex with themed styled photoshoots - Lily likes bananas, Effie's favourite book was about an astronaut, Alma is an old soul so he gets to hang with Dinosaurs and Matilda you are up next you little sunflower. 07.01.2022 This is the first time I've shot a " Day in the life" family shoot. Spinelli's, thank you for welcoming me into your home and letting me be apart of your family for the day. I have only made a slight dent in the edit though here are the first few shots I wanted to share with you. Ivy, your giggle has been in my head all day. You were only slightly shy for about 15 minutes before you made me feel completely welcomed.
