25.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions have had little to do during Iso so they cleaned out their equipment shed. Pictured are a group of happy workers

25.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions are prepped and ready to support Umbilical Cord Blood transplantation, which is an exciting new development helping save the lives of children with leukaemia and other life threatening illnesses. BMDI Cord Blood Bank was Inspired by Robbie Lodder who lost his life to leukaemia because he could not find a perfectly matched donor within his family or on the Bone Marrow Donor Register. Had there been a Cord Blood Bank Robbie may have been given another... chance at life. Like the chance to win $500 worth of groceries from Whites Supa IGA Bli Bli? 25.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions would like to thank our Car Boot Stall holders for coming and supporting our fundraising efforts on behalf of the school. If you didn’t manage to join us for a browse, or to sell your unwanted treasures , it was a fun filled morning with bargains to be had and freshly cooked sausages to nibble on. We were able to raise just over $400 from the event. Our next Car Boot fundraiser will be held at Bli Bli State School on 23rd May, in case you’d like to book your spot now. More information to come, so please stay tuned. If you need more information feel free to contact us. 54505721 or 0402112023?

24.01.2022 Rod and Leanne, Twin Waters locals, were last night presented with their signed Storm Jersey and COA. President Trish along with Lion Evan and Lion Neil who organised the signed Jersey and the event, were proud to thank our guests and present it to them. Thanks to their support Maroochy North Shore Lions will put the money to good use in purchasing a defibrillator to be housed at The North Shore Community Centre for use by all groups using the grounds and centre. Thank you to everyone who participated and huge thanks to Rod and Lyn.

24.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions have happily organised the secure parking at the Fisherman's" Rd markets to assist Mooloolaba Lions for quite a few years but are having a short break during the Coronavirus. We hope to see all the stall holders and patrons when life gets back to normal. Here are some photos of our hard working members.

22.01.2022 Important message. Especially if you know someone who needs support.

22.01.2022 What a busy, busy weekend for Maroochy North Shore Lions club with Lap the Map Saturday morning and baking to provide a simply delicious afternoon tea to serve a Musical Group at the North Shore Community Centre Sunday afternoon. Our Club certainly lived by the Lions Motto of We Serve over the weekend.

19.01.2022 Another big Day at Convention today with some fantastic results for our Leo’s and Peace Writing For Vision Impaired as well as learning more about Lions Hearing... Dogs. Five amazing young people contested for the role of Leo of the Year, each participant was eloquent in their presentation and passionate about their commitment to community Service. Kai Spence from Qld was however the overall winner. Out going Leo, Ruth Spence, gave Lions a number of insights into Leo’s, and how fostering more young people between the ages of 18 to 30 into Omega Clubs will be the shot in the arm Lions need to ensure the amazing projects we do are continued into the future. Inspirational! Young Josh, who’s speech is attached, was extremely thankful for the opportunities he’s been given through Lions. This remarkable young man who is vision impaired, spoke eloquently and there were many Lions reaching for tissues. For the first time, since this contest started, Josh not only won the Australian Award but also International. So proud to see the look of pride upon his face and the massive grin when his achievement was announced. Hearing dogs is something close to the hearts of Maroochy North Shore Lion’s especially as our club has a hands on approach with a dog now placed in Bli Bli. Day 3 tomorrow and another early start tomorrow.

18.01.2022 Lions Clubs are the perfect opportunity to change your life and that of others.

18.01.2022 The remembrance ceremony at Multiple District is a time to remember and pay respect to the many Lions who have passed on to higher service. Today Maroochy North Shore Lions pay tribute to one of our own, Fred Manthei, who served his community and clubs for over 40 years. Across Australia, over the past 2 years, over 700 Lions, and partners, have passed onto higher service. They may be gone, but they now walk in the company of other Lions who’ve paved the way for them.

16.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions held their inaugural Lions Lap the Map on the 14th of November, which is World Wide Diabetes Day, this day is to draw awareness of Diabetes. For some a curable disease if they take care of their bodies with good nutrition and exercise, for type 1 diabetics life isn’t that simple and a cure is needed. Lions World Wide are pleased to walk for this important cause. The event Co-ordinator, was pleased the club recorded 43 Kms on the morning. They hope 2021 will see the event draw others from the community to walk alongside them.

16.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions Grocery Grab will be drawn at 3pm this Saturday, 10th October at Whites Bli Bli IGA. If you purchased a ticket, we’d love to see you come along for the draw, and who knows it may be your name pulled out of the hat. Huge thank you to our generous community for supporting vital research into Leukaemia and other blood cancers. To learn more about Lions and how you can join us drop us a PM.

15.01.2022 Mark, from Maroochydore Neighbourhood Centre, enlightened Club members about homelessness here on the coast. He shared his passion to ensure their plight isn’t forgotten on the Sunshine Coast, where our statistics show the coast has the third highest rental stress in Australia, which exacerbates problems for our homeless, not one we would really like to boast about. Our club members were extremely interested in the sleepbus Mark has been working towards to gain funds to bring... one to the coast so our vulnerable community have a safe place to sleep, as sleep deprivation is a huge problem for this section of our community. We were surprised to hear many tradies and professionals actually make up a number of our homeless community. If you can help with supporting this incredible project, or The Neighbourhood Centre, feel free to reach out and we can put you in touch with Mark. Remarkable man doing a remarkable job. See more

15.01.2022 Q4 Lions Zoom Convention, held in Maryborough 2020. What a year for Lions around the world this year. Like many other districts, Q4 clubs have embraced technology to ensure clubs from around our very large district and cabinet were able to connect today and be part of convention. Lion Rod Somerville, from Maroochy North Shore Lions, was one of a small number of cabinet members who met in Maryborough to connect with other Lions, to celebrate DG David Watts, share knowledge, discuss business the district needs to know and be voted on and to remember Lions past and present who have passed away and gone on to serve a higher cause. Convention is a celebration of all things Lions, a time to reflect, to learn, to connect and reconnect.

15.01.2022 It’s drawing close to that time of year when the sleigh bells are jingling and Santa is preparing for his journey down under. Lions know Santa loves nothing better than a slice of delicious Christmas Cake to see him on his way to his next stop, so to be prepared this Christmas preorder your tasty Lions cakes or puddings to eat just the way you like them. Have a friend and not sure what to give them for a gift? Why not gift them a cake and share a cuppa and chin wag this Christmas . Pre orders or locations to purchase can be made to Robyn 54506659. https://www.facebook.com/MaroochyNorthShoreLions/

15.01.2022 Something Lions around the globe have in common, a passion and commitment to make a difference to and for others.

15.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions invite you, your family and friends to ‘Lap the Map’ this Saturday, 14th November 2020, from 9am to 11am. Lions across the country are hosting family friendly walks to promote healthy lifestyle and raise awareness of the Diabetes epidemic in Australia. Remember to share and invite your friends. Clubs will be reporting the length of their ‘Lap the Map’ walks and we are aiming to move a combined distance that exceeds Australia’s circumference (25,760... kms). You will enjoy a great morning out and participate in a wonderful opportunity to benefit your community and raise awareness around how we can help stop the spread of diabetes nationally. We also encourage attendees to post photos or videos participating in Lap the Map walks and use the hashtag #Lionslapthemap to help spread the message to as many people as possible. ‘Lap the Map’ is one important part of our overall mission to reduce the prevalence of diabetes in Australia this year. Type 2 Diabetes represents 90% of all cases of diabetes, and can be prevented or delayed in more than half of these cases through making healthy lifestyle choices: Regular physical activity Maintaining a healthy weight Making healthy food choices Managing blood pressure Managing cholesterol levels Not smoking. It doesn’t matter how far you walk or run, it’s about being involved, getting active and moving together on this critical national project. Fast facts: Diabetes is recognised as the world’s fastest growing chronic condition. One in 11 adults has diabetes (415 million) 12 per cent of global health expenditure is spent on diabetes (USD$673 billion) Every six seconds a person dies from diabetes (5.0 million deaths).

11.01.2022 Congratulations Lorraine Bain who was the winner of the $500 Grocery Grab.

11.01.2022 Thank you to everyone who purchased a ticket in the $500 Grocery Grab at Whites Bli Bli IGA and supported the Lions Cord Blood Foundation. All tickets have now been SOLD OUT thanks to your amazing support. Your support, whether you purchased tickets or made a donation, will certainly make a huge difference for so many lives as advances are made in fighting Leukaemia and other blood disorders. Remember the big draw is at 3pm October 10, hope to see you there. If you’d like to learn more about Lions and this project, or about many of the other incredible projects Lions around Australia and the world are involved with then simply leave a message or email us [email protected] Again a huge thank you.

10.01.2022 Maroochy North Lions were busy on Lions Awareness Day on Saturday 7th at Bli Bli shopping centre. Shoppers were interested in the many activities we undertake in their community and entered their names into a competition for a fuel voucher . Some generous donations were also received. Pictured are members with our display and members with the lucky winner of one of the fuel vouchers.

10.01.2022 If you love art then keep an eye out for more details on how you could join in this international Youth Initiative. Children aged 11, 12 or 13 years of age are eligible. More details to come.

10.01.2022 So proud our Lions take time every year to remember those Lions who have moved on to a higher service and calling. Zone 1 and 2 Lions will be remembered for their dedication to serving their community to make life a little easier. Thank you for your service to our community.

09.01.2022 Lions Members Clive, Muriel & Patricia met with Handler Marcello, from Lions Hearing Dogs based in Adelaide, at Erica Heron’s home to be trained on how to monitor & assess Thumpers response to sounds of a door knock/ bell, oven timer & smoke alarm. Maroochy North Shore Lions will be responsible for this three times a week for a number of weeks. One in six Australians suffer from some form of hearing loss and this number continues to rise. Of these people, approximately 400,0...00 are dealing daily with the isolating challenges of severe or profound deafness. This means, the services we deliver through producing professionally trained Hearing Assistance Dogs are needed now more than ever. Our dogs are provided to Australians in need, free of charge. You can help us train and place loving Hearing Assistance Dogs with people in need all around Australia, making a real difference in their lives. IT COSTS APPROXIMATELY $37,000 TO TRAIN AND DELIVER EACH HEARING ASSISTANCE DOG.

06.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions like to have fun as well as work very hard. Here we are at a TAFE breakfast yesterday. An early morning but worth it.

06.01.2022 Such a great cause.

04.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions would like to congratulate Lorraine Bain who held the winning ticket and will now be able to spend $500 on groceries. Lorraine was joined by her faithful Story Dog Oliver, who I’m sure will share in a few special treats. IGA Bli Bli owner, Michael White, was on hand to present the $500 voucher to Lorraine. Lions Trish Parkinson and Joyce Peters were on hand to assist and congratulate Lorraine. Again thank you everyone for your support. Story Dogs a...re another incredible project supported by Lions! When children read to a dog, the outcomes are amazing! It is a non-judgemental setting, the children's focus improves, their literacy skills increase and their confidence soars. The accepting, loving nature of dogs gives this program its magic and helps children relax, open up, try harder and have fun while reading to a friendly, calm dog. Woof! https://www.storydogs.org.au/lions See more

03.01.2022 Lions are always tirelessly working to improve the lives of those around them. Our club enjoyed a night of laughs as we gathered around the kitchen table to pack our hygiene packs for Maroochydore Neighbourhoid Centre who do an amazing job providing support for our vulnerable, homeless community. If you have any hygiene products you’d like to donate we’re always happy to accept them. If this is a project you’d like to get involved with we’d love to hear from you.

03.01.2022 Adopted Sunshine Coast Melbourne Storm donated a signed team Jersey to the Maroochy North Shore Lions and we are auctioning it off to the highest bidder. 01.01.2022 Maroochy North Shore Lions Club are proud to support Maroochydore Neighbourhoid Centre with our monthly Hygiene packs.
