20.01.2022 Paws for thought... SUMMER is here... Is the pavement/sand too hot to walk on? Place your palm on the pavement/sand for 5 seconds, if it’s too hot for your hand then it’s also too hot for your fur-baby to be walking on it... Early morning or evening walks are best as our Sunshine Coast temps start to rise #burntpawshurt #summertime ... @thebigkahuna_bmd

18.01.2022 Brachycephalic Dogs... With summer fast approaching remember to do all you can to stop your ‘brachy’ baby from overheating. Whilst all breeds can suffer from heat stroke, the brachy’s are at a higher risk, due to their narrow wind pipe less oxygen is taken in with each breath - given dogs regulate their temperature largely through panting - these breeds are prone to overheating, fast!... I’ve sadly heard of 3 bulldogs passing in the last week due to heatstroke... Brachy breeds (most common) Bulldogs Pugs Lhasa Aphso Bull Mastiff Cavaliers Boxers Boston Terrier
17.01.2022 Dear PAWsome Clients With 90% of you booked through until Jan 2022 I have decided to turn off access to the online booking system for the next few months (from Thurs 27th May). If you haven’t already done so may I suggest you jump on and secure your desired days/times (remember to select a service, so the correct time can be allocated).... If you’re unable to book ahead due to a fluctuating work schedule simply text or PM and I can book your appointments for you. Thank you so so much for choosing me to groom your fur-babies, I am very grateful for your continued support. Mel
15.01.2022 BAXTER... this boys mum has been doing an awesome job with combing. Today he was able to leave with a fluffier body. She has also been working on desensitising Baxter’s paws. She has taught him paw means to present his paw for touching, combing etc, allowing him to feel more comfortable during the grooming process.... #aussiedoodle #happydogshappylife
15.01.2022 How lucky are we to live in paradise aka the Sunny Coast... have a wonderful weekend with your four-legged babies #happyweekend
14.01.2022 Q) What are anal glands (AG)? A) AG’s are found on either side of your dogs anus, just below the surface of the skin. Usually the AG’s empty on their own when your dog does a poop, but sometimes not... Q) Why does my dog have a nasty fishy odour, even after washing? Why is my dog scooting? Why is my dog trying to bite/lick it’s bottom area?... A) Chances are their anal glands are full/blocked/impacted, which can be very annoying & or painful if they are infected. Q) Who should express (empty) my dogs AG’s? A) A vet. Many groomers offer an AG service, however if it’s carried out too frequently (every groom) or done incorrectly it can cause a build up of scar tissue that will prevent the glands from being able to empty themselves. If your dog has symptoms of anal gland irritation talk to your vet, as there are many reasons and solutions to the issue. One of my own pooches has major AG issues, to the point where they may be removed... so please, I encourage you to seek veterinarian advice when it comes to these potentially pesky glands.
14.01.2022 ...and that’s a wrap for 2020!! What an incredible year it has been... from the bottom of my heart I thank all my wonderful clients for choosing me to groom your fur-baby. I consider it an absolute privilege and your love and support has blown me away ... thank you.... Have a very Merry Christmas with those you hold dear and I can’t wait to see you all in 2021. Big hugs Mel
13.01.2022 Dear Clients, Unfortunately I’ve injured my dodgy old back on my first dog of the year! This week’s appointments are postponed for the time being whilst I seek medical advice and try to work out how to get your gorgeous fur-babies groomed... please bear with me, if you have an appointment this week I’ll be in touch.... Many thanks Mel
13.01.2022 I’m taking two weeks off to kick back with my little fam-bam, recharge the batteries and come back fresh in 2021 to your gorgeous fur-babies. Huge thank you to all who’ve already booked throughout 2021, so grateful for your continued support. If you haven’t already done so, may I suggest you secure your desired days/times for 2021.... If your work schedule doesn’t allow you to book in advance let me know, I always run a cancellation/rescheduling list as life happens and understandably changes often need to be made. {At capacity and currently not taking on new clients}

11.01.2022 Comb! Comb! Comb! A comb will get right to the skin, where the knots start, a slicker brush can give you a false sense of ‘brushing’... the only way to remove matting is with a blade... it’s dangerous and it’s not enjoyable for your fur-baby or myself... a comb a day will keep the blade away #doggroomerslife #happydogshappylife
11.01.2022 SMARTIE... this girl #groodlelove {At capacity and currently not taking on new clients}

08.01.2022 Please be careful when walking your fur-baby in and around the shallow rocky waters of our Sunshine Coast beaches & rivers. Stonefish seem to be multiplying, with numerous reports of humans stepping on them in the last few weeks. Please seek immediate vet treatment if you suspect your fur-baby has stepped on one.
07.01.2022 If your fur-baby needs a groom & this availability suits you then send me a text, PM or DM. Existing Clients Only
05.01.2022 Bath time for Barney! This ‘lil chap has a ‘luxury wash & blow dry’ every fortnight to help keep his coat in tip-top condition between his six weekly grooms ... many of my clients do this as it includes a full coat brush out - which helps to keep the knots away! If you’re struggling with your pooches coat let me know, I can work out a length and grooming schedule to suit your budget and lifestyle.... {At capacity and currently not taking on new clients}
