25.01.2022 SWANS SENIORS THIS WEEKEND! This year in the A-grade competition Noosa hosts Maroochydore at 4:00pm in the annual John Currey Shield. For those who are new to the club, the game that your playing for holds a lot of significance. John Currey A life member, played over 200 games for the Swans, played 11 A Grade grand finals against Noosa, won 5 A Grade premierships, played for the Sunshine Coast for many years. He was part of the winning team that won the 1999 Queensland champi...onship against Townsville. The battles against Noosa especially in that period were relentless Playing in the second row he commanded respect and got it. Not only from his own teammates but from Noosa as well. He could be the worst enemy on the field towards Noosa, but he would be the first one in the Noosa shed after the game to crack a beer. Unfortunately, John passed away too early from cancer. So once a year we play for the John Currey Shield and we honor the legend that he was. Please come and celebrate the day, and wear your black and blue and support a full day of Rugby 12:45pm Senior Womens 2:15pm Reserve Grade 4:00pm A-grade - John Currey Shield

11.01.2022 SWANS UPDATE! Thank you to our state member Fiona Simpson MP and Joe Natoli - Councillor Division 4 for coming down last Saturday to witness the Commencement of the 2020 rugby season on the Sunshine Coast. We greatly appreciate the support that you have shown to the Maroochydore Rugby Union Club.

11.01.2022 Exciting News.. The long awaited new female friendly Change Rooms are underway. The club is grateful to have received funding from Sports Australia, Queensland Sport and Recreation and Sunshine Coast Regional Council. A huge thank you to Cr Natoli for his last minute and very generous contribution to see the project fully funded. The Federal Government through Sports Australia provided $192,000, Queensland Government provided $157,000 through the Get Playing Places and Spa...ces Program to enable Queenslanders to participate in sport and recreation activities and Council provided $100,500. If youd like to see whats being built, check out the plans on show down at the club. Project planning started back in 2017 with extensive work on the State Governments Get Playing Places and Spaces grant by Nikki Wood, former President Scott Toms and every single club member and supporter that helped the club get the first application in. Wed like to take this opportunity to recognise the hard work, long hours and personal contribution Nikki made in getting this project started. It took another 3 years before the Club could secure full funding to construct two new change rooms and external amenities to support female participation in rugby union at Maroochydore Rugby Union Club. In addition to this we have been fortunate to incorporate a dedicated referees change room as part of the project. Graham Kirk and Troy Derwin have been working tirelessly liaising with council to get the project ready so a big thank you to these guys as well. Our aim has always been to provide appropriate facilities for our women and girls teams and amenities for our spectators and suitable space for the Refs. Were hoping the project will be done and dusted (COVID-19 and weather permitting) by early November 2020.
