13.01.2022 Hi everyone. In any other year we, as a club, would have played a season of rugby, been entertained at club functions, had a few drinks and something to eat at the clubrooms and met up with and exchanged some old tales with old and new friends. But, this season was different. We had two preseasons, but no rugby ball was picked up by any of our players competetively. This meant there was zero income to the club. To this end, the committee would like to express their thanks to ...those people who have signed up already to the club's $20 membership plan, it is most appreciated. This will give us the ability to start next year financially better equipped. This membership gives you voting rights at the club's AGM and counts towards our membership numbers growth for the local council. It is renewable every year. It is open to anyone, even players, and is still open for this year. Please text or call me on 0417 166 444 for further information. Thank you all Lance Dunn President See more

11.01.2022 To the supporters of Maroondah Rugby Club, 2020 is a difficult year for everyone and our rugby club is no different. The inability to access our facilities so far during 2020 and the lack of a season is having a significant impact on club revenues.... We rely heavily on the income from the bar, canteen, and events to meet the costs of putting our teams out on the park which fees alone do not cover. Additionally, without additional income, it is not possible to provide additional and upgraded kit for the team to use as required. As we look to our 50th birthday in season 2021, we would ask that supporters of Maroondah Rugby Club purchase a $20 club membership with the form attached. If you do not wish to purchase a membership or are already a life member, but still wish to support the club then you can use the form to provide a donation instead. Your support is greatly appreciated by our players and coaches. Yours sincerely, The Committee

08.01.2022 To All Players, Members and Supporters, Today, following a meeting of Rugby Australia, National Development Panel and all State and Territory Unions it was agreed to postpone all Community Rugby until the first week of May. This is effective immediately. This recommendation covers:... 1. All Competitive Rugby Matches 2. All Practice Rugby Matches 3. All Training Sessions 4. Face to Face Education Courses 5. This covers Masters, Seniors and Juniors This decision has not been made lightly, it has been made with the interests of the participants, families and the broader community. Because of the fluidity of the current situation, any updates will be posted on our Social Media pages. The importance of keeping the playing groups and club moving forward we are preparing a plan to continue the great camaraderie we currently have. 07.01.2022 Today, round 4, we paid a visit to our neighbours home ground, Eltham. This was a must win game for the Griffins. In an even, across the field performance for all of the 80 minutes the Griffins ran out winners 31-8. Tries to Pooki, Mace, Nick and Knox, all converted by Sam.G. who also added a penalty. There are still things to sort out, but we are back on the winning side of the ledger. Congratulations lads, job well done today, but we start again Tuesday.

03.01.2022 To All Maroondah Rugby Supporters, The following statement was issued by Rugby Victoria this week. Following the Premiers announcement on July 7th, Rugby Victoria acknowledges that metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire will return to Stage 3 stay at home restrictions, effective from Wednesday July 8th at 11.59pm. We understand the implications this will have on our Rugby Community. Effective immediately, Rugby Victoria will suspend all activities in affected areas.... RV will undertake further scoping work over the next two weeks and will present a number of models and scenarios to clubs for their consideration. RV is working closely with our Regional Clubs to facilitate a Regional Club competition which can go ahead for Juniors and Seniors and we will announce further information over the coming weeks. The season will look different and feel different, however, RV are committed to providing our community with the opportunity to play rugby in 2020. RV will continue to follow the advice of the State Government and Health Department. We will be sharing further updates over the coming weeks. The Maroondah Rugby Clubs position is as follows:- With the reinstatement of stage 3 restrictions, the Club will not be able to operate our training programs and our facilities. The Club is working closely with Rugby Victoria, in co-ordination with all clubs, to make what we can of the season, Government restrictions permitting. Whilst we have been delivering training programs over an extended period, delivering new equipment, playing kits and sustaining the additional costs caused by the restrictions, a reduced competition season will have a significant impact on club revenues. The Club relies heavily on the activation of our club facilities and the income from social events during competition to provide the member benefits which fees alone do not cover. To sustain the club through this time, we are asking all supporters and our playing community to support the club with a general membership (which will be announced this week) and our Facebook page clothing sales. All players should keep in contact with each other and their coach. We will provide an update when we get more information from Rugby Victoria on what the realistic options for a competition are. Thanks and Regards, Lance Dunn President

03.01.2022 To the Maroondah Rugby Club Community, A note to keep you up to date with the 2020 rugby season. All Presidents have been meeting weekly (via Zoom) with Rugby Victoria and Rugby Australia to keep up to date with the current Covid-19 crisis. Community Rugby remains postponed to a date not before 1st June, 2020. This includes all rugby activity including matches, training and face to face education courses.... Rugby Victoria has advanced its planning for a re-commencement in July. Rugby Victoria will seek further advice from the Federal and State Governments. The State Government is supposedly providing an update on restriction measures on 11th May, 2020. Draft competition planning has advanced to a forward stage with three proposed models put forward with different end dates. Understanding our access to facilities in October is a critical component of our planning and modelling. Option 1 Access to facilities in October, up to 14 rounds (variable start dates in July. Grand Final 31st October) Option 2 No access to facilities in October, except for clubs that have full year access, up to 12 rounds (variable start dates in July, Grand Final 10th October) Option 3 No access to facilities in October, up to 10 rounds (variable start dates in July, Grand Final 28th September) Option 1 is our preferred option, however, as a group, we supported implementing option 2, if we do not get access to all facilities in October. Rugby Victoria will undertake further planning on the Junior season. The return to play framework may be relaxed for Junior Rugby. Juniors may possibly start before seniors. They are planning to hold Junior Finals a week before the Senior Finals. There will be a Return to Play Framework that is being developed in consultation with the medical fraternity and Governments. This involves:- Week 1 - 1 on 1 contact Week 2 Small group contact, less than 10 per group Week 3 Normal training Week 4 Trial environment At the next meeting of the group, we will be discussing Hygiene (players, club and facilities) and systems to be in place whilst the season is being played. There are other meetings taking place on an ongoing basis covering coaching development, referee development, subsidisation of playing levies, equipment/apparel funding and extension to winter tenancies. It has to be noted, The Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports has requested the Federal Government allow Sporting Levies to be made tax deductible over the next couple of years. There is also now a dedicated Minister for Community Sport in the State Government, from whom Rugby Victoria is requesting a meeting with to advance our cause. There is a lot going on in the background, so hopefully we can get a season started. Thanks and Regards, Lance Dunn President

02.01.2022 Seniors training resumes on Tuesday 26th May @ 6.30 pm. We will be training at Griff Hunt Reserve. Please ensure you have paid your $20 insurance training levy through Rugby Explorer app. Please also ensure you notify the Senior Coach of your attendance.

02.01.2022 To the Maroondah Rugby Community, It has been published in the last few days about return to play guidelines being put in place by Sport and Recreation Victoria. This has meant Rugby Victoria outlining Rugby specific mandatory conditions for return to training. The actual return date to training will not be finalised until we get a permit from Maroondah Council. Unfortunately, training in groups at the club cannot start before this is provided. The Seniors coach has been p...rovided with all the guidelines in relation to non-contact training and is formulating plans accordingly. So, until we can provide you with more information, keep fit, maintain social distancing, personal hygiene and stay healthy. Thanks and Regards Lance Dunn President
