02.01.2022 So, what is the significance of this gi? As I was unstitching the 2017 competitor number yesterday morning, it dawned on me that this gi is 23 years old! I boug...ht this in Japan in 1997 and stitched the 1997 All Japan competitor badge on the right sleeve, my first international event. The 2017 Jakarta number closes 20years exactly between the first and last international event as a competitor. I have worn this gi in every tournament I competed since 1997, my 50 man kumite, my gradings and only on a few other special occasions. Now looking very worn and tired, the sweat, blood and tears this gi has seen, it holds a very special place in my heart and treasured every time I wear it. If only it can tell a story. See more
