17.01.2022 INMATE FUNDRAISER A DOGGONE SUCCESS Staff and inmates at a Long Bay prison have helped sponsor an assistance dog for a hearing-impaired woman after donating... $2,544 to the Maroubra Lions Club following a Christmas cake fundraising drive late last year. The Metropolitan Special Programs Centre staff-led fundraiser enabled inmates to order mini Christmas cakes during the festive season, with all proceeds going to the not-for-profit. This week the money went towards sponsoring an Australian Lions Hearing Dog for a Sydney woman. Freya - a Staffordshire Terrier and Chihuahua cross - is trained to alert her owner in different ways to various scenarios including when someone is at the door or calling on the phone, if an oven alarm sounds, or if a smoke alarm goes off. #CSNSW #Corrections #LongBay #WeApplaud

15.01.2022 Congratulations to our friends at Coogee Cares and Coogee Lions Club who distributed almost $30,000 worth of donations to local charities last Wednesday at their annual Gratitude Attitude Night. Maroubra Lions was very pleased to attend the event at Coogee Bay Hotel and enjoyed hearing from some inspirational local residents and charities making a big difference in the community!

Let's face it, with these colder nights they can never have enough. A further 67 blankets were handed to Lifeline's Derek Tuffield yesterday by President Nerida, VP Fred, Grant application guru Merv, and Tiesch from Bendigo Bank. See more

We’re also pleased to be selling our famous Lions Christmas cakes but you’ll have to get in quick as they are selling very quickly this year!

07.01.2022 Maroubra Lions were very pleased to host a BBQ with Coogee Cares and Coogee Lions Club over the weekend at the Quicksand Australia 2019 soft sand beach run on Maroubra Beach. The event was organised by renowned Australian ultra-marathon runner and multiple world record holder, Pat Farmer AM. Funds raised from Quicksand 2019 will be donated to Love Mercy Foundation, supporting communities in Northern Uganda.
