23.01.2022 What are you doing this Indigenous Business Month? Indigenous Business Month is celebrated during the month of October, and this year's theme 'Invigorate ~ Build ~ Maintain', couldn't be more relevant in light of the dramatic challenges and opportunities taking place due to COVID-19. Marrawah Law is a multi-award winning law firm that is proud to be 100% Indigenous and female-owned. We generate $4.41 of social impact for every dollar spent. We believe our most significant co...ntribution to Australia is our promotion of other Indigenous business and meaningfully contributing to their growth and sustainability for generations to come. This month is a call to action for all Australians and big and small businesses to reflect on inclusion within the sector. Procuring and supporting Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander businesses is one of the easiest and most effective ways of generating social value and can help break the cycle of disadvantage. It also strengthens regional and remote communities by creating employment opportunities and wealth creation. Be sure to be following Marrawah Law across social media for updates on the Bill coming soon. 18.01.2022 NAIDOC week this year is a little more special now that I am a mother. Being around so many strong Indigenous women in my life I have that strength and support to now guide my daughter and show her the culture of her great Grandmother and great Grandfather. I’m so lucky to be able to still work with Bub at my side and to me it’s a plus that she also gets to be around the strong women I work along side with at Marrawah Law. These ladies are the best role models for my litt...le girl as she grows up to be a strong Indigenous woman, Marrawah Law admistration assistant, Caitlyn. #NAIDOC #NAIDOC2020 #NAIDOCWeek #marrawahlaw #marrawahlaw

10.01.2022 If you're after a great read on how business owners are making an important social impact within the community then you'll love this interview with Jo Burston from Rare Birds - a social impact business which is designed to inspire, support, educate and empower women in business. In the interview Jo was asked to tell a story about a particular individual who was impacted or helped by your cause? Well it was none other than our very own Leah Cameron, who was one of the firs...t 100 women to receive a scholarship from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet’s Office for Women in order to take part in a 12-month mentoring program with Rare Birds. Leah had previously been reluctant to reach out to potential mentors, mostly because she didn’t think anyone would really understand her needs. But through their detailed matching system, Jo and her team were able to take Leah's key focus areas, her personality and communication style and matched her with a few mentors who had the exact experience and expertise she required. In the 12-month period in which Leah was mentored, she gained confidence in putting all the recommended ideas into practice, and because of this Marrawah Law has (no joke) doubled in size.
