21.01.2022 #bookrecommendation If you are looking for a new book to read, you cant go past The Unforgiven. In the early 1980s, 20 West Indian cricketers were offered rich contracts to take part in rebel tours of apartheid South Africa. Accused of pocketing blood money to support a regime that systematically discriminated against people of their own colour, they were banned for life from playing the sport they loved. Journalist & Marrickville Cricket Club parent, Ashley Gray, travel...led to the Caribbean to find these forgotten men. The Unforgiven is their story. This is a fascinating read, congratulations Ashley! Get your copy at: https://www.dymocks.com.au//the-unforgiven-by-ashley-grey-

20.01.2022 Extreme Heat Warning - It is forecast to be a very hot day on Saturday, the first hot day of the season. Each individual participant will react differently to hot conditions and therefore each individual must consider their own capabilities. Below are some steps to take to prepare and manage when it is hot. - START EARLIER - your Coach/Manager will contact you if your start time is changing. - MORE DRINKS BREAKS - agree to have them every 10 overs. ... - FIELDING HATS - require all players with the broad brim hats to wear them whilst fielding - KEEP PLAY MOVING - encourage your players to get through the overs and have your batters ready - ROTATE - if you have an additional player rotate the kids regularly so all get a break off the field - KEEPERS - if possible share the duties between two kids to avoid one kid doing the whole innings - WATER SPRAYS - have some chilled water sprays on hand so you can squirt your players down. - UMPIRES with WATER BOTTLES - bowling end umpire can keep a water bottle discretely if needed - ICE - esky's with extra ice, ice water etc - COOL NECK TOWELS - use fancy or simple but chill in esky and give to players during innings breaks - SHADE - if you have parents with portable shade ask them to bring it - for players, parents & scorers. Good luck and stay cool.

13.01.2022 Proud dad & super coach Chris loves his cricket, especially because it's something he and his two daughters Ari & Elodie can really enjoy together. Mum, Ricarda is their biggest supporter and loves how much joy it brings to their family. So if you're looking for a reason to #playcricket here's why you should pick up a bat this summer too.. Ari: I love cricket because it’s a fun game I can play with my friends and I love all the different parts of it, including batting and bow...ling. Elodie: I love cricket because we have a wonderful team of girls which includes my friends and my sister. It’s also great because every game is different, which makes it a lot of fun. #lovecricket #theMarrickvilleway
