02.01.2022 I know lots of brides have been freaking out about the unknown- but this morning I think our PM and the CMO did a great job of providing some clarity and assurance. Gatherings of 100 people or less INDOORS is totally fine (think inside reception area) Gatherings of 500 people or less OUTDOORS is totally fine (think wedding ceremony) No lock downs... Practice sensible hygiene Practice some social distancing (so ditch the kisses and hugs and opt for an air kiss instead when being congratulated) Stay home if youre not well CONSIDERATIONS FOR WEDDINGS Travel overseas: Australians told not to leave. Other countries are also taking similar precautions- so international guests may not be able to attend your wedding. No definite date when this will be lifted but expectation is 6 months. So if you have parents who cant get here- thats the difficult decision in deciding whether to postpone another 6 months and potentially wear some of the costs but have your parents there, or just go ahead and perhaps Skype them into the ceremony and celebrate in person later on down the track. Honeymoon- safe to say it will have to be within Australia, but thankfully no interstate travel bans The elderly, frail are still the ones most at risk. Some recent weddings Ive seen the grandparents come for the ceremony, and then head home so their exposure to others is pretty limited. If they are in an aged care facility then they wont be able to come out. I think on the whole- its good news. Sure it may mean some people may not be able to come- but no wedding day EVER goes off without a little bit of trouble. The most important thing to remember is this: its about YOU and YOUR PARTNER basically standing up and saying- babe I love you and want to spend the rest of my life with you. The small details dont really matter. What matters is love, health and finding moments that bring you joy. Happy wedding planning xx
