23.01.2022 2 0 2 0 Well, I guess we weren’t expecting that. And I’m not even sure what that was - apart from the bleeding obvious. It probably feels like a year worth forgetting, but in reality it will be a year we will always remember. I have learnt a lot in the past year - some of which surprised the hell out of me. I learnt that I am far more resilient and adaptable and have more patience than I thought I ever did.... I learnt that I can work excessively long hours in an ED during a global pandemic and be ok. Tired, but ok. I learnt that I became more empathetic with every wedding postponement email I received. Which was a lot. I’m with you all the way, guys. We got this. I also want to remember it as a year of gratitude - for my health and for my loved ones health. But above all, I learnt that my family and my friends are the reason why I’m still smiling and semi-sane today and for this, I thank you. Here’s to a joyous and prosperous 2021. See more

07.01.2022 Please don’t think that you have to memorise your vows. In fact, don’t even attempt it because you’ll stuff it up for sure! ... I will have your vows printed on these cute af cards. I will also pop these into your ceremonial certificate envelope for you to keep at the end of your ceremony. This is so you can read them when you’re angry or annoyed at your partner and to refresh your memory about why you married them in the first place! See more

07.01.2022 This is a bit of a long one, so bear with me. This photo was taken 12 months ago, today. A day that I won't ever forget and a day that I will always remember how privileged I am to be a Marriage Celebrant. I have to be honest; I never thought that I would be the celebrant that would ever have to use a 'shortening of time'. (This is when under special circumstances we can request to waive the one month notice period from BDM. It sometimes is not granted). Im not sure why.... Perhaps just incredibly naive of me. However, I was so wrong and on the Thursday evening before the Saturday, I received this message from Amanda, Evan's fiance: Hi Jacki, sorry to message out of the blue. Evans health is rapidly declining. The Doctors have told me that he has a few days left. Are you around on Saturday at all to help us tie the knot privately? Shit. Evan was a work colleague. A nurse. A father to an 8 month old son, an incredibly selfless, 44 year old human, who was diagnosed with brain cancer just a few months earlier. On this day, 12 months ago, I gave them their wish. In a shitty hospital garden that somehow felt like we were at Noosa Northshore. There was so much love around them. They wanted the Princess Bride ceremony script at the beginning. So I did. Mawage... It was really funny and Evan laughed. Hard. Which was so lovely to see. I tried to be brave that day. I cried. We all did. Evan unfortunately lost his battle a few weeks later and he grew his wings. I was also again, incredibly privileged to conduct his funeral. Squeeze those loved ones hard. See more

01.01.2022 I still consider myself incredibly lucky to do what I do and actually call it a job. To create your ceremony for you and deliver it with nothing but warmth and authenticity is what I pride myself on. As Im sure you can imagine, next year is going to be a party for sure so if you think 2021 or even 2022 is when youre thinking of getting hitched, I wouldnt hesitate to start locking in your vendors.
