25.01.2022 It’s time... is it? I think... look, it’s time enough that I introduce you to this guy. Looks a bit like Grug but for copyright reasons we’ve nicknamed him the love bandit. @stasierolfe accidentally created him when tinkering around with the logo she was mid-making for me. Can you spot where he came from? We both kinda fell in love with him so he and I are pals now.
25.01.2022 My registration email arrived on 27 March 2019. Today I have been a registered civil marriage celebrant for one whole year. Who knew this is where we’d be a year later? 12 weddings in 12 months was my goal. I don’t expect to equal it in year two, which breaks my heart. You expect, if you are doing something you love and doing it well, that your business will grow to reflect that success. What you don’t expect is a pandemic in your lifetime.... To the beautiful couples I have married in my first year of being a celebrantthank you for your belief in me and for letting me look after your ceremonies. They have each been an absolute joy and a thrill. I’ve loved telling your stories, and getting to know you and your love. To the couples who have booked me for the futurethank you! The coming months will be a challenge for all of us to navigate, but we’ll take it a day at a time and stay positive. I‘m looking forward to getting to know you better and telling your stories. We’ve just gotta get to the other side with calm and with love. Here’s to the future. See more
25.01.2022 Now everything is quiet, let’s enjoy some reflecting on recent times through some killer photographs. (This also gets me an entry in Fred and Hannah’s current smile-inducing competition, but hey, I’ve been wanting to share some of these anyway.) Because LOOK, how freaking cute is this? Me, Dylan and Caitlin just going about our wedding business while a couple of fairies flit around the creekbed... pursued slowly but enthusiastically by a pixie. The way that Fred & Hann...ah darted around that creekbed while we did our ceremony thing was distracting because they were SO GOOD AT IT! Ping ping! Pew pew! Actual magic. #tasmanianwedding #twamleyfarm #tassiewedding #weddingphotography #fredandhannahphotography #fredandhannah #destinationtasmania #elopetotasmania See more
24.01.2022 ETA: listen to Bec tell her story on the radio the following afternoon, woo! https://www.abc.net.au//p/drive/makeshift-wedding/12097208 25.03.2020: All the love in the world for these two legends who pulled off an incredible effort in order to be married in front of friends and family yesterday. Bec & Rob had a beautiful dream wedding planned for Ireland in June... and then COVID19 came creeping up. Bec called it early and at the start of March switched plans for a s...mall legal ceremony at home in Tassie in April, with fingers crossed they could still head off for the overseas adventure they had been waiting for. And COVID19 kept creeping. On Tuesday night at 6pm she called me and said, Are you free tomorrow? And I was. And so was everyone else she needed to make it happen. On Tuesday night at 10pm the PM announced changes to come into effect on Wednesday at midnight. This wedding was Meant To Happen. (And Peter the harpist was the icing on the cake. Called at 2pm. Can you come play at our wedding in three hours? I’d be honoured. MEANT TO HAPPEN!) From Randalls Bay Beach live-streamed to loved ones on couches near and far, these two lovers made things legal with Bec’s precious daughters by their side. Rachel crocheted emergency wedding bands from golden thread (you can see Rob’s in this photo). A small group of friends and family found their own space on the beach, and brought hearts on sticks to wave around instead of the hugging we so desperately wanted to be doing. We hand-sanitised for signings and we waved and we sighed and we grinned and now Bec and Rob are married. Perfect. See more
23.01.2022 Rhys embodying that feeling when the petal toss instructions translate according to plan! I love this killer shot of Heidi and Rhys by Heart and Colour at my last big wedding back in March, when trying not to shake hands was still kind of funny and interstate travel was no drama. Ah, the old normal. What memories. @artaudandco Ratho Farm #tassiewedding #tasmaniancelebrant #marriedintassie
23.01.2022 My favourite Canberrans. What a beautiful afternoon we five had together!
22.01.2022 I love grabbing a selfie with my couples at the end of their ceremony. For me, it’s our little shared we did it! moment. I’ve yet to learn how to contain my post-ceremony endorphins and not look like a grinning buffoon, but somehow if the photographer captures the moment, it looks a million times better. So this is yet another vote for prioritising picking a good wedding photographer for your day. We all deserve to look as good as Rosie Hastie Photography made me and Dan and Sarah look at Ettie’s back in March.
18.01.2022 As promised: me and Brady and Djia and THE DRESS. Can you believe!? P.S. IT’S GOT POCKETS. (So does mine, we had a tulle-off. P.P.S. Djia won.)
17.01.2022 A powerful shot: taken by a talented woman, of two incredible women, being married by a joyful woman. #challengeaccepted, Cinta. Celebrate love. and Rachael Calvert #womensupportingwomen
17.01.2022 Throwback to six months ago, the last time I was at Ratho Farm, for Rhys and Heidi’s destination wedding. I adore ceremony photos where I can see people having a giggle, especially when I know it’s in response to something I’ve said. For me, that’s a win. That’s my #1 goal achieved. Swipe through for a couple of zoomed-in reaction faces from these two legends. Swipe a couple more to see who was responsible. () I loved telling their story!... : Heart and Colour : Ratho Farm : Artaud and Co : Abigail Giblin/Saffi Studio : Nick van Ommen-Brown See more
16.01.2022 I had such a blast marrying Jas and Alex today out at Ratho Farm! These two cuties hit me up back in May, in the depths of COVID darkness, with their fingers crossed for today’s date to be able to go ahead. Jasmin’s pop walked her down to Alex’s side, and Alexander’s best man Daniel took his role to heart and travelled from Wagga Wagga, spending 14 days in quarantine to be at Alex’s side. We had a lot of fun, and while their pups Hurley and Hazel were a bit too excited to b...e present for the ceremony, they raced back to mum and dad in time for some beautiful photos. Can’t wait to see how those turned out! It was also great to finally work alongside Sarah Ryan Photographer and RJ Visuals, two absolute legends. I can’t wait to see what magic they’ve made today for Jas and Alex. Thanks so much for inviting me along to be part of your day. Yes chefs! Congratulations again, Mr & Mrs. See more
15.01.2022 GUESS WHO’S BACK IN THE HOUSE (and I mean that quite literally because I’m in home quarantine for a fortnight now that I’m back from QLD)? Day 2/14 baby let’s do this! I am... truly elated with this photo of me snapped by Heart and Colour at Rhys and Heidi’s Ratho Farm ceremony in March. Honestly, it is everything. Firstly because I’m not nervously looking down at my book for the right words (that I WROTE ANYWAY? Look up you numpty), I am grinning to the sky, prob bc a good... joke just landed. One of my favourite things to do is bring a fresh ceremony script in for my couples to hear for the first time in the moment it becomes real. I love it when they put their trust into my hands and I reward them by making them snortlol (and sometimes ugly cry) for their guests (and photographers) to enjoy. Speaking of scripts, I’m so excited to write my next one during this home quarantine. My next wedding is the reason I came home from QLD when I did! Let’s go 8 August, let’s go! See more
15.01.2022 08.08.2020: Ellen and Matt just got married on an island!!! The penguin colony was invited but they were gone fishin’. An actual perfect afternoon, bit magic.
14.01.2022 30.03.2021: ZOË + LOGAN! Yes, you’re reading the date right! Now that they’re home again and all their friends and family members know the big news, I’m allowed to share our JUST MARRIED! selfie, featuring Logan’s eyebrow (to add to the holiday collection of Logan’s eyebrow’s adventures around Tasmania). Zoë and Logan came down from their home in central Queensland for a big adventure all over the south islandand tacked on a secret elopement in Freycinet while they wer...e here, just because they could. Just these two, their love, their celebrant (me!!!), their photographer (Kristy L Photography!!!), and a mate of mine roped in to be second witness. I love these intimate five person moments. Who am I kiddingI love every ceremony I get invited to be a part of, no matter how big or small. But finally standing on a rock with these two after months of emails, text messages and instagram stalking (no commenting! Couldn’t give up the game!) was honestly the best feeling ever. And hanging out in their Freycinet Lodge coastal pavilion for a celebratory post-wedding drink was a bonus. Here’s to doing things your way, Zoë and Logan! #freycinetlodge #freycinetelopement #freycinetwedding #freycinetlodgewedding #freycinetlodgeelopement #honeymoonbay #freycinetnationalpark #tasmanianelopement #taselopement #elopetotassie #elopetasmania #elopetotasmania #mycouplesarethebestcouples See more
14.01.2022 Jas + Alex's wedding at Ratho Farm in September was my first time working with a videographer! Rory's shared the full video now and I gotta tell you, I'm glad the squawk I did when I immediately heard my voice just now wasn't also recorded. Seeing this glorious day in action again is a whole 'nother thing, an immediate reliving of a beautiful afternoon with two honeys and their family and friends. An absolute treat.
13.01.2022 10.04.2021: DYLAN + HILARY = DYLARY This perfectly matching pair of socks got hitched today in front of a bunch of lovely friends and family at Narryna, with me and island 26 photography on the job. Hil came down the aisle to Josh Pyke’s The Summer, we giggled, we teared up, they exchanged vows and rings and everyone threw some incredible countdown fingers. Perfect afternoon. And this love story sees my last big party for the season! Which is fair because the current temp...erature feels like 1.9 and there’s snow on the mountain. Don’t know how Hil survived! Running on love and adrenaline, darling. Here’s to a future of running and love (and moments of adrenaline). #DylaryLovesYou #mycouplesarethebestcouples #absolutelovebangers #celebrantlife #thecelebrantsociety #marriedintassie #tasmanianwedding See more
13.01.2022 mfw looking through #DylaryLovesYou photos from island 26 photography (and also getting everyone to clap for Hilary’s brother escorting her in successfully ) Getting to wade through wedding photos is almost as exciting for me as it is for my couples. Seeing so many fun moments from our time together is the best! And trying to work out exactly what it was that made someone pull a face is a fun challenge Send me your photos! I wanna get excited with you! Thanks to Dyl an...d Hil for sharing their album, and to Tony for taking some absolute corkers at Narryna last month. #weddingcelebranttasmania #tassiecelebrant #celebranttasmania #tasmaniancelebrant #marryintasmania #weddingstasmania #weddingstas #getmarriedintassie #tassiewedding #marriedintassie #tasmanianwedding See more
10.01.2022 Folks, we have a new photo contender for the title of Marry Me, Memily: in a Nutshell. Sweet angel Sarah Ryan Photographer snapped this shot of me at Jasmin & Alex’s wedding last month, as we milled around the signing table after the ceremony. I honestly wish I could tell you what exactly caused this response from meI’ll chalk it up to those incredible post-ceremony endorphins smashing their way through my system. I’m not the only one who loves and rates this shot, eithe...r. I’ve finally joined my first wedding directoryAND my second! I’ve had my eye on Pure Bride for ages, and Isle Weddings slid into my DMs in time for me to be a part of their launch just last month. Both directories nominated this shot for my cover photo. What can I say? It makes an impression! If you’re planning your wedding, I reckon you’re gonna take one look at this face and say ABSOLUTELY NOT or ABSOLUTELY YES and I honestly support either of those responses! Team YES, come at me. I need more lovers in my life. See more
08.01.2022 It‘s always unbearably lovely to be asked to be in the group photo! Totally not an expectation, but a little nod to my involvement being important to my couples. Microweddings and elopements mean I get to actually exchange a few words with every guest, too, which is a real treat for this gasbag. Also I wanted to post this because remember how nice it is to hang out with a whole bunch of wonderful people? One day again. One day. by Fred and Hannah at Twamley Farm back in January for Dylan & Caitlin.
07.01.2022 I love it when somebody puts the information together for me. Larger weddings are permitted again, Tasmania! Safely, always safely. But I’m grinning from ear to ear.
07.01.2022 LOOK UPON DJIA’S DRESS YE MORTALS AND DESPAIR. Looking back fondly at this sunny summer day on a cold rainy Sunday. Djia + Brady got hitched in the Japanese Gardens at RTBG on 29 February 2020. It’s easy to remember your wedding anniversary when it only comes around once every four years and everyone kinda makes a big deal of it. Smart, you two. Smart.
06.01.2022 12.04.2021: DANIEL + TAYLA! These two cuties wanted nothing more than a simple legals-only ceremony in the comfort of their lounge room, surrounded by an adoring crowd of family of all ages. And yet, it was sweet and it was touching. There’s a lot of love in this pair, and it was my honour to legally recognise it for them. #legalsonlytasmania #registryweddingtasmania #legalsonlywedding #legalsonlycelebrant #registryofficeweddinghobart
05.01.2022 Oh hey fam. So what have your last three months looked like? Bit like this? Maybe not quite so fab up top? Yeah, fair, mine neither really, except for those three glorious days of The Celebrant Society conference at the start of June. This was my lewk for day one’s classy up top, covid down bottom #covidconference theme (I was a runner-up for the daily prize, too! ATHANKYIEW). Conference helped put my celebrant hat back on my head, as well as a couple of fresh bookings (!!! PARTY TIME). I’m excited to put some learnings into practice (looking at YOU, SEO) and holding my couples’ hands as we make our way together toward the unknown horizon that is the rest of 2020.
05.01.2022 Why, yes, you can expect me to gaze lovingly at you as you speak your vows to each other, because y’all so dang cute sometimes I get a little overwhelmed and forget you’re talking to your partner and not to me. Lol nah I’m just #1 fan of team you two!!! Here’s me helping Djia read her vows to Brady back in February. I think mostly I was waiting for her to cry, after being told she does so at the drop of a hat. (She did an incredible job, *I* was the one who came close to losing it at their cute af vows.)
04.01.2022 Doing my thing on the beach with Bec & Rob the day before the parties ended. Thanks to @tonihutchisonphotography for this great shot! I miss people and love parties a lot.
04.01.2022 One year ago today I married these bespectacled babes in a tiny little pocketed reserve in Sydney. My very first married children (this is how I feel about my couples, you are now my children of love and I am invested in you forever). Sam and Han had been engaged for five years by the time Han messaged me, mid-study, to let me know that me becoming a celebrant meant they could finally get married because they could have someone they knew standing up front with them and doin...g the thing. Their faith in me propelled me through my last months of study, and as I packed up my things after delivering their ceremony I couldn’t wipe the stupid grin off my face. It felt SO good. I finally felt confident in that moment that celebrancy and I were a good fit. Happy first anniversary, Sam and Han. I adore the heck out of you. (And thank you Bruria Hammer Photography for the adorbs photos.) See more
03.01.2022 A cute shot Fred and Hannah captured of Twamley Farm’s li’l signing table setup down the creek for Caitlin and Dylan in January. Some celebrants don’t like the Big Red Bookit’s not a requirement, we can just print our own certificate copies, but I got the BRB as part of the new starter pack from our legal stationery provider. I love the BRB. (Would I love it more if the colour was customisable? Sure. Still love it, though.) It feels official to me, and I love carrying around a history of my work, full of squiggles from all my married couples, who may or may not realise just how fondly and often I think of them! Also can’t go past an OTT signing pen. Mems gonna Mem; my couples know who they signed up with.
02.01.2022 Pondering my next move? Time to get the cape out, we’ve got some work to do this weekend. See you soon, lovers. : Nina Hamilton Photography
02.01.2022 Oh, I knew it when we met And time stood still A light in the dark of the world 23/06/2020: Exceptionally stoked grins all around. Special gifts from previous love parties! These two saw me in action at Sarah & Dan’s shindig in March and decided I was the right person to make their good thing a legal thing, too. Jump to a brunch-sized elopement moment in their beautiful home on Tuesday (a bit of a surprise for their witnesses, and the groom’s parents who lucked out with the...ir timing of a trip down south this week). Because when you know, you know, and the moment Dom & Mel locked eyes three years ago, they saw their future together stretch out in front of the both of them, and because once their rings existed earlier this month, it made perfect sense for their marriage to exist, too. Get stuffed, pandemic. 2020 has plenty of pockets of goodness to be found. Congratulations, lovers. See more
01.01.2022 Amy and Lizzie, my two favourite dorks from Laverton, looking absolutely gorgeous thanks to their genes, their love, and Nina Hamilton Photography. They eloped to Freycinet in early March and I just got back from my latest Freycinet adventure this weekend! This shot is everything.
