23.01.2022 Homework is a common expectation for most primary and secondary aged children. The nature of the activities will vary between different schools and for different ages and so it is best to discuss expectations with your childs teacher. While requirements may vary, most educators agree that reading is the most valuable homework a child can do and should become a daily habit. Parents can help children develop sound study habits from a young age, which include a predictable routine, encouraging effective use of time and helping them get organised. http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com//doing-school-helpi/

18.01.2022 Most Dads want to be there for their children but at times other activities, such as work, can make that hard. Dads live in many different situations including as one of a two-parent family, as a step-parent, a single parent or within a part-time family. Some Dads are looking for work, some work full or part-time, and some care for the children all the time while their partner works full-time. These situations bring new pressures and possibilities for Dads. http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com/children-and-family//
16.01.2022 he child who swears Children swear for many reasons: to experiment with language, to attract attention, to make themselves appear bigger or older than they are, and even as a challenge or expression of personal power. Swearing is only a form of language, but a socially unacceptable one. Find out more http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com//the-child-who-swea/

15.01.2022 Age-appropriate Chores Many parents and carers wonder at what age children should be able to help out around the house. Sometimes expectations are too high, sometimes expectations are too low, sometimes it just isnt worth the fight and its quicker to do it yourself. http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com//age-appropriate-ch/
14.01.2022 Young people and smoking, alcohol and substances Young people start smoking for many reasons to act older, to be independent, to fit in, to relieve stress, to rebel against adults, and (sometimes) to be like their parents. Aside from the usual peer pressure and the incessant need to be cool or considered edgy and fun, many teenagers are simply curious about the buzz or high they can achieve from taking drugs. http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com//young-people-and-s/

07.01.2022 Though we are all familiar with the old saying Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me, we know that children can be harmed by adults speaking to and about them in negative ways. Children need to hear that the adults in their lives think they are OK. Parents can help children feel good about themselves by the way they speak and the things they say. Hearing positive things helps children feel more confident and helps them try even harder to gain our respect and approval. http://www.marsdenfamiliesprogram.com//using-words-that-h/
07.01.2022 Mothers day event today was a great turnout, with mums enjoying hand massages and a beautiful brunch, while the little ones got creative making mothers day cards!
