15.01.2022 Beginning Teacher Retreat Marsden’s first year teachers had a great end to the term by participating in our annual Beginning Teacher Retreat. Over the two days, staff were provided the opportunity to learn, collaborate and reflect in a range of workshops. Staff utilised mindfulness and visualisation as a strategy for effective goal setting, and competition was fierce as groups participated in a range of academic games.... Executive Principal, Andrew Peach, explored leadership in the classroom as well as wellbeing and work-life balance. Third year teacher, Kate Kennedy, shared her teaching journey as well as tips on how to survive and thrive in the teaching profession. The Retreat ended with a team building session at Escape Hunt where staff were challenged to work together to solve puzzles in order to escape a range of rooms. Kiara, Paige and Josephine have been outstanding contributors to our program since their junior years. Alongside their contributions as players, these young ladies have really given back to our program, even as it transitioned from touch to rugby league. 12.01.2022 Kai from Year 10 was invited to play in the 2020 National Schools Championships in Brisbane for a QLD City Team. Due to COVID boarder restrictions the Nationals couldn’t go ahead so QLD Invitational Futsal Championships was formed. QLD National teams, schools and academy teams were invited to participate. What a great tournament it turned into. Kai was placed in the U15 QLD City Maroon Team. His team was made up of students from many different Brisbane schools. These boys ca...me together and played with #pride, #passion and #persistence in all games. Kai and his team won QLD City Maroon team are the Champions for 2020. Kai has been selected for the Queensland Elite Futsal Team and will travel and compete in either New Zealand or Fiji in August 2021.
