29.01.2022 I love exploring new places for potential excursions with my gorgeous girls. Found this beauty today. Will definately be preparing a risk assessment for this one.
25.01.2022 We have some Casual positions available at the moment. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Great if you have some errands, need some time to yourself or have casual work/study. Marshall Munchkins is a family-friendly environment with a very large backyard and purpose-built playroom/cabin and fort. I have a holistic approach to childcare and like to include all kinds of play. We celebrate multiculturalism and our community on a daily basis and focus on the individual needs of e...very child. We love nature-based play and our veggie garden. I am fully qualified and registered with 24/7 Family daycare and have a current First Aid Certificate including asthma and anaphylaxis (which I have first-hand experience in). Full Childcare subsidy available.
25.01.2022 Happy mothers day to all of the amazing mothers. We have some incredible mothers here at munchkinland. I hope you all have amazing days with your treasures.
24.01.2022 Some great places to visit this beautfiul spring (nearly) weekend. https://www.facebook.com//lake/permalink/2543118799332851/
24.01.2022 Our morning routine has quickly evolved into being in the garden. Weve been busy peeling avocados to grow little trees (having had some great success), picking grubs (and feeding to the chickens) off our cauliflowers allowing some beautiful produce to form and tending to our greenhouse, planting corn, carrots, and capsicum to name a few. What a wonderful way to start the day.
22.01.2022 This week Marshall Munchkins celebrate 6 wonderful years. What a fantastic decision for myself and my family to become an Early childhood educator. A great life decision and one I will be continuing for as long as I can Thankyou to all my munckins both past and present for being incredible. And everyone who has supported us along the way. Xxx Edit: I Should have also said cake is welcome. Lol.
21.01.2022 Who needs plastic seed planters when we have everything we need in nature already. Leftover orange halves made the perfect vessel for planting our new seeds. Look at those vibrant colours of the orange and oregano.
21.01.2022 A beautiful lake visit this morning. Lots of amazing finds, some natural obstacle courses and climbing equipment and the serenity of a gorgeous landscape. Does life get any better.
20.01.2022 Back to the bush today to climb, paddle, explore, grow and thrive.
20.01.2022 As much as we love our adventures out we still have a whole heap of fun at home too.
19.01.2022 So much fun in the sun this week...
19.01.2022 Yay our kinderboard is here. Only problem, I need more than one. They have already had so much fun on it. Kinderboards were created to help children develop a sense of balance, stimulate their vestibular system, and gain a deep sense of awareness of their body and body parts. Im have no doubt this will be a huge part of our program.
19.01.2022 Why we are all here as educators for these amazing little creatures... This one couldnt wait.
19.01.2022 We acknowledge Aboriginal people as the first peoples of this nation and respectfully acknowledge the Awabakal peoples of the land on which we meet today. I pay tribute to Elders past and present and it is a great privilege to be standing on Country.
19.01.2022 Science week and some experimentation with colour. Why does the colour stay in blobs in milk? How come it mixes when you add detergent? This evolved into some great mud kitchen play this morning.
18.01.2022 A very busy spring potion making table this morning.
18.01.2022 Covid 19 update.
17.01.2022 Our bush kindy day is now full for next year. I am still taking names for our waitlist or casual days throughout the year. If youd like to be added please let me know.
17.01.2022 Our playgroup friends at Littleheroes Fdc have a new addition to their family. Little Diego had a fan in one of my munchkins who showed her beautiful, gentle nature when meeting him. What a wonderful connection she has with our animal world.
16.01.2022 We've just had a fantatstic bush morning at a local Awabakal reserve. It was beautiful casual stroll to our spot where we set up for a couple of hours. My favourite comment 'but there's nothing to do here' when we arrived. I love kids like that because they are the ones you can show the true value of a bush setting. I took some pastels and they drew what they found, explored burnt trees and climbed a beautiful big old tree in the middle of our opening. One munchkin stood behind it and jumped out at walkers and joggers saying 'stick em up'. Another walker told us she called it the knowledge tree. I love that. Such an amazing morning. I loved it and on the way out my little boy who said there's nothing to do told me he had a great morning. Success!!!
16.01.2022 A new little mud kitchen area I started on the weekend. It has been a very busy space this morning. A small change igniting their imaginations.
15.01.2022 This week is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Childrens Day. A day dedicated to celebrating children from our oldest living culture. "We are the elders`of tomorrow, hear our voice"
14.01.2022 We have some avid readers in our group which warms my heart incredibly.
12.01.2022 Some kinetic sand to stimulate the senses today. A few shells thrown in and I can almost envision a summers day at the beach...
12.01.2022 Do you ever wonder how shells get their beautiful shape. MOON SNAILS Did you know that the crescent-shaped jelly-like things washed up at the beaches in Melbourne & other parts of Australia are the egg sacs of MOON SNAILS!! ... These snails are also responsible for drilling the perfect hole in shells often found on the beach too! The Moon Snails eat the creatures Iiving in the shells by drilling a hole through the shell! Jelly sacks are not jellyfish. Instead they are an egg mass laid by moon snails. The eggs are encased in the clear, moon-shaped, jelly-like substance. When you're squishing them between your toes (or throwing them at each other!) you are actually squishing tiny baby moon snails!! According to the CSIRO, don’t throw them at your family and friends, but rather gently place them back into the water! Here's lots more very interesting information: https://www.dolphinresearch.org.au/weekly-creature-feature/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlSxrcobO40 https://blog.csiro.au/beach-biodiversity-summer-listicle/ https://collections.museumsvictoria.com.au/species/8732 https://www.google.com//Photographer-warns-beachgoers-not-
11.01.2022 Some fine motor and letter recognition work today.
10.01.2022 I went exploring on my day off this week in search of some great places we could visit. Found this beauty literally 15 minutes from our house. Did Newcastle folk know about Belmont lagoon? Turns out it's not the easiest to access. How stunning are these trees though... Belmont Lagoon has particular cultural significance to the Aboriginal community. The Lagoon is a 'Dreaming-site' that was formed when the Moon wept out of loneliness. Creation of the Lagoon was cause for celebration and became known by Aboriginal people as 'a place of joyous dancing'.
10.01.2022 Beautiful connections formed through unhurried intimate interactions in a small nurturing environment. How could you want more for your little one...
09.01.2022 This week educators around Australia celebrate National Family Day Care Week. I would like to thank all the amazing educators who have continued to inspire and challenge me since my opening. I look back on my time as an FDC educator and see so much change. My environment has grown immensely, both indoors and outdoors as I find what works best for the children. I've toned a lot of our environment down, decluttered, and found our happy place in this ever-changing childcare worl...d. I can feel and see my growth as an educator and I've finally found the scheme which aligns with my own personal ideas and philosophy. I love taking the children into nature, it calms them (and me) and they take away so much value and learning when we go out. I've seen many children come and go and can remember every one of them, their little quirks and personalities. All so different. We've done many amazing incisions and excursions. I'm so grateful to be able to be part of so many wonderful families and teach their little precious babies with their first educational journey. Happy National Family Day Care Week!!! See more
09.01.2022 As we create our aboriginal flags and discuss the meaning of the colours and the Awabakal people, Mr 4 asks "Can we go to their land?" I explained that their land is all around us, we use their land everyday. A long time ago they lived where we are standing. He looked a bit confused. So we talked about long before houses and cars and roads were built the Awabakal people built their homes from things they found in nature. They found their food in nature, danced in nature. A wonderful discussion which Im looking forward to extending through his journey here.
09.01.2022 This week is asthma awareness week. Having 3 kids with asthma, 1 quite severe and with a long family history of asthma, please take five to have a read. Very important to understand triggers, symptoms and treatments.
08.01.2022 Yesterday we collected bark to paint today with some gorgeous colours representing our nations oldest living people.
07.01.2022 An amazing camp experience for our little munchkins today. A fire pit, toasted marshmallows and some beautiful damper. Combining with our fdc friends at Littleheroes we spent all day outdoors around the fire. Topped off by rest time in the tents listening to the birds under the magnificent gum trees. I watched their little eyes drift off so peacefully today. What a dream day.
07.01.2022 Its so exciting waiting for the kids to come home from school. Squeals of excitement as they round the corner. Shows a beautiful bond which develops during family day care.
06.01.2022 Munchkins at work. Our new bubba has settled right in very quickly. What a gorgeous group I have...
06.01.2022 Our home made piklers have taken shape. A little project myself and Littleheroes Fdc have been working on. Tick of approval from my girls. Some gross motor work this week my little munchkins.
06.01.2022 Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair. A beautiful excursion today to explore a secret garden. Thanks Sams Fdc for inviting us to your special place.
05.01.2022 Early literacy skills as little Miss M is starting to recognise text. Running her fingers over the words as she reads this book. I think we have an avid little reader in the making.
04.01.2022 Our munchkins are showing so much confidence on our wobble board. They are building their gross motor skills and vestibular sense more and more...
03.01.2022 Some more messy play with science as we attempted to replicate rain through the clouds.
03.01.2022 Its been 3 years since Ive seen my amazing dad who now is a beautiful star (as one of my munchkins puts it). I struggle with this day every year now. But I love seeing the amazing dads who have come through our service. You are all incredible and I see your love shine through in them. Thinking of you all today and all of those who have lost as well. Xxx
03.01.2022 Im very excited to share that we will be changing to an amazing Family day scheme as of the 13th of July. Their support already has been phenomenal. Inspired EC has an incredible nature based philosophy and Im very excited to be able to immerse my munchkins in this. Have a look at their page below.
03.01.2022 Community involvement at a beautiful park. So nice to be out and about, tending to the community garden and exploring some wonderful park resources.
03.01.2022 Once upon a time beside the salad Apple tree two little friends cut oregano and mint from the vegetable patch. 'Mmm this smells beautiful' they commented as they carefully selected the pieces they wanted for their potions. Once they had enough they wandered over to their waiting friends where sand, stones and some nasturtium flowers had already made the pot. They set about all working together while our fine feathered friends watches on with envy. What a way to start the week.
02.01.2022 Winnie the Pooh is just the best...
02.01.2022 I had a great morning of clay play planned out today. We set up in a great sunny spot and then the conversation turned to Star Wars so off we went to collect craft supplies to make light sabers. Our yard turned into a Galaxy with Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker both trying to kidnap our youngest princess Lea (Miss 2-year-old) who was taken to the fort to be protected by the troops. You never can tell what the morning is going to bring. Our clay still sits in a sunny spot waiting to be played with some more...
02.01.2022 It was a feast for the chickens as they enjoyed the grubs which had been feasting on our Cauliflower plants.
01.01.2022 Welcome to Tuesday. Nice way to start the day with a double rainbow this morning. If only the sky was a bit bluer.
27.12.2021 So nice to be out exploring again. Today we found some charcoal which we collected to crush and turn into ink later on. For now though it was used to draw and whittle away with. Always nice creating in the bush environment.
13.12.2021 We jumped right into 2022 with all of our usual offerings today. Our harvest looked quite healthy. Lilly pilly berries a plenty and consumed with enthusiasm. A perfect immune booster in our current covid climate.
