Those that came were able to forget about the rest of the world for two hours of respite and downtime. Check out how white those legs are! Also feel free to ring Melanie’s mobile and have a chat if you have any questions! Classes will be 45 minutes duration to allow for cleaning and sanitising between sessions. Students will dance solo and maintain at least 1.5m distance from others unless they are from the same household and permitted to dance together. There will always be a staff member designated as a Covid Marshal in attendance while the studio is open. It is essential to confirm your attendance in each class so we can offer places to others on the waiting list if you can’t make it. Masks must be worn to and from the studio unless you have an exemption, however they are optional while participating in a class. If you are ready to return to dancing, it would be great if you could pick up to 2 classes (either both on the same night or one class per night). Please bear in mind that for the moment we will have to stick to strict limits on numbers (10 people per class) and classes may fill up quickly. Pay As You Go rate for non-members is $12 per class. 20.01.2022 OK folks, we are back in business from next week! We are very excited to see everyone back at the studio doing classes. We can't social dance yet, but hopefully partner dancing will resume in mid July. Please see this timetable of classes and especially take note of the rules down the bottom. All classes are open to both adults and teenagers, with priority given to those who were enrolled in the same classes before we were forced to close. There's a maximum of 10 people per class and social distancing will be maintained. However, you can choose to do as many classes as you like, there's no limit per week! As much as we'd love to be able to incorporate social dancing after classes, we will wait and see how Melbourne recovers from the most recent Covid breakouts. 11.01.2022 Yes Achievement Awards are going ahead! Our latest timetable has been organised so that we have the least amount of people in the studio as possible at one time. We have left room for our teachers to wash their hands between partnering candidates. Please check what time you have been allotted (this is still a draft and will likely have changes) and make sure you check again on the Friday before Saturday 28th March to see if any changes have been made. We ask that you arrive 2...0 minutes before you are due to dance your award and check in to reception. Please wash your hands when you arrive, just before you enter the Ballroom and when you leave. Because the Cabaret Night has been cancelled, trophies and critiques will be given out on Wednesday and Friday nights. After you have danced we then ask if you can not hang around. You are more than welcome to bring someone with you to record your Award, or we can video it for you for a cost of $28.00. 10.01.2022 We are relieved to announce that the recent State Government announcement (3:35pm 30th June) declaring 10 postcodes move back into stage 3 lockdown from Wednesd...ay 1st July 11:59pm, does NOT affect any of our MarShere studios currently. As a group of dance studios MarShere has been working with health authorities to make sure we are being compliant to all requirements, so we can operate our dance studios as safely as possible. We do understand that some students may be affected by the new lockdown announcements. We hope you continue to enjoy our socially distanced dance classes at our 14 locations. Please help us keep each other safe. Refrain from visiting a MarShere studio if you are suffering any illness no matter how minor, or are from one of the 10 postcode areas identified by the State Government. We encourage everyone to get tested for COVID 19, so as a community, we can identify and isolate areas of concern. 09.01.2022 Great news! Since restrictions have eased last Sunday we are now allowed to take up hold while dancing! This means you will be able to dance with your teacher, and with other class members, if you and they are comfortable with that. If you'd prefer to keep dancing solo, that is completely fine as well.... We can also increase the sizes of our classes, with 20 permitted in the main ballroom at once. We will keep a limit of 10 in the smaller room. 07.01.2022 Hi MarShere Nunawading family, No doubt youve now heard the news of the shutdown of non-essential businesses in Victoria, with dance studios affected from 12 noon today. Consequently all Award Classes and Lessons at all MarShere Dance Studio venues must be put on hold until further notice. While we regret these measures, it is the burden which we must all bear together to help Australia defeat the Coronavirus.... This also means that we are unable to run our Achievement Award Day this weekend and will look at a new date to hold it, once we are given the all clear. There has never been a more important time to dance. Amidst the uncertainty and isolation we all face, we can stay connected and encouraged through our love and enjoyment of dance. We promise to be here to support you, teach you and make you laugh even while our doors are temporarily closed. We have created a new Facebook Group called MarShere Nunawading Community Group. It is a private group for our members and students and will be where we will be posting online content and lessons which we expect to start in a few days! Well expand our library with a mix of fun, informative and technical material aimed at keeping you up to speed in your homes or wherever you can find to do some dance practice. 07.01.2022 Hi everyone - UPDATE ON RESTRICTIONS - we are able to increase class sizes now, so the caps of 20 people in the main ballroom and 10 in Studio 2 no longer apply! Capacity is 64 people in the main ballroom (with a limit of 50 per group) and 27 people in Studio 2. Masks are no longer mandatory to wear inside the building unless you can't socially distance. Keep in mind that while dancing in contact, masks are not required while you are out of breath - so let's get exercising in those classes! Stay tuned for another post regarding this week's class content.

06.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE! To the Nunawading MarShere family, As you know, we are all facing significant disruption due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the attempts to monitor and contain the infection worldwide. At this time your health and welfare remains our highest concern.... We have been preparing response plans for how to deal with this developing situation, and have been closely following official Government advice. Notifications from the Department of Health and Human Services published late yesterday require some immediate changes to the way we operate. Clear guidelines around reducing transmission within the community and social distancing have been issued for all Victorians so the following temporary changes need to occur to social dancing. We will be running this weeks classes as normal (except NO partner dancing) with a modified social program from 8.00-9.30pm. To comply with Social Distancing guidelines; classes will be solo dancing only and have an emphasis on routines, technique, posture and movement. Our normal Social will instead consist of a workshop/practice class format, with our Principal Peter Hird instructing us on some of the finer details of techniques and then alternating with dancing our routines to music like a practice class - without partners! We will continue to keep you informed if there are any further significant updates. We apologise for these necessary disruptions, however these changes are only temporary and we will endeavour to have you back to your normal dancing schedule as soon as the situation allows. 03.01.2022 For those asking whether the new restrictions around social distancing will affect MarShere Nunawading tonight, the answer is that we are well within the guidelines for our current numbers. The Main Ballroom measures 15 meters wide x 19 meters long, that's a square meterage of 285 meters. That means that we can safely have 71.25 people in attendance. Judged using the numbers we had on Wednesday there will be plenty of social distance! Again we thank all for your continued support.
