13.01.2022 Happiness is a choice. While you may not be able to choose everything that happens to you in your life, you can choose how you respond to each event. One of my favourite anecdotes/analogies is from when I worked in hospitality. There were days when I wasn't in the greatest, perkiest of moods, but in a service role, you are expected to be cheerful. So, I would pin on my "hospitality smile" and get to work, telling myself I had to at least come across as being in a good mood re...gardless of how I really felt. It amazed me, the impact doing so had on my mood and psyche. By simply acting like I was happy, it actually made me feel happy. Even if the issue affecting my mood hadn't changed, by thinking and acting positively, I was able to overcome the negativity I felt at the beginning of my shift. What you tell yourself has an enormous impact on how you feel. If you wallow in self-pity for too long, or tell yourself that you are worthless, you will begin to feel these things until everything that happens in your life simply confirms these negative thoughts. However, if you tell yourself that you are worthy, that you are content, that you are grateful, then this positivity will flow into every aspect of your life. Are you happy? If not, that's your choice. Do you agree? #happiness

11.01.2022 Have you ever written yourself a letter? Writing to yourself allows your past self to help guide your future decisions and keep you on track to achieving your life and business/career goals. This is a little different to keeping a journal, as it should be sealed, opened and read at a future time - normally at least 2 years later; 5 years later is better.... 1. Time-frame - when are you going to read this letter? In 2 years, 5 years, 10 years? 2. Purpose - why are you writing to yourself? What are you hoping to achieve? 3. Current Mindset - what are you feeling right now? Hope, optimism, scepticism, defeat? 4. SWOT - what do you see as your current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats? 5. Goals - what do you want to achieve in the time-frame and how will you know if you have achieved them? You should ensure that you goals are S.M.A.R.T. (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time bound). Then, set the reminder to open and read the letter. You can use https://www.futureme.org/, or (favourite) open a term deposit for the predetermined period. The bank reminds you when your term is ending prompting you to open your letter - now that's investing in your future! https://www.marthatravis.com/resources-ti/objective-setting #business #goals #timecapsule #selftalk

10.01.2022 1440. That's how many minutes we each have in a day. Once they're gone, we can't get them back; so using each one deliberately and effectively is the key to achieving our life and business goals while living a happy and stress-free existence. You probably get that feeling of overwhelm when you don't have your priorities right, or at least clear. It's the fear of not knowing if you can do everything in the time-frames you have available, that you might miss something, or that ...you will have to give up your life in order to meet business/work requirements. Here are three tips to getting under control: 1) Set your goals. If you don't know what you're working towards, it's hard to know what you should be working on to achieve them. 2) Get clear on expectations. Maybe the expected delivery time is longer than you thought. Manage the expectations of others and don't overcommit. 3) Use technology. There are many apps and platforms that can assist you to manage your time and priorities. The important thing is to track ALL your tasks (work and life). By doing so, you can better manage your time and decide how you're going to best use it. Technology can also be a time-waster, so turn off notification pop-ups and dings to limit distractions. #priorities #goals #timemanagement #stressfree

08.01.2022 As another ANZAC Day dawns, we have the opportunity to pause and be grateful. Here, in Australia, we are safe. The people who have risked their lives and/or given the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our nation will be remembered and respected.... We have the advantage of isolation to afford us some protection from invasion by other nations (and infections), but it is the core traits of being Australian - mateship, compassion, generosity and service to others, that has protected our way of life. And while we still have work to do until every Australian has the privilege of having a home, access to equal pay, to live a life without discrimination, or the threat of harassment or violence, largely we are a lucky country. What are you grateful for today? #lestweforget #anzacday2021 #grateful

05.01.2022 My people tell me great things about my business and the services we offer: "You really know your stuff" "Every business needs your help" "You have such a refreshing perspective"... "It's great how you are able to get to the heart of problems and you seem to enjoy fixing them!" "Wow, I have never thought of it that way..." If you are or have been a client, you are or have been a part of my team, read my posts, attended a networking event I've lead or spoken at, or if you just think my business is making a difference in the industry; it would be fantastic to receive your vote for the Local Business Awards. https://thebusinessawards.com.au//Martha-Travis--People-In
